Insects, I hate insects, As I run from the seething mass of bugs I slam into tree's not watching were I run just trying to get away from all the hissing and clacking. They're catching me and I don't know what to do, the poison from when I was bit by the centipede still flows through my veins feeling it draining my stamina while running, blood pumping faster.
I could always run to the village and have them help me fight these things or at least buy me some time. But the part of me that's still human doesn't want to do something like that, fighting with my instinct for survival and my emotions about leading a mass of death to the village making my move turning toward the village.
As I get closer the villagers see me and start arming themselves, I'm only about a hundred feet away when i turn around and let loose a heart stopping shriek. It does the job the mass of bugs falls apart as i jump on the closest centipede, claws tearing through it's head easily ripping it apart.
My eyes scan the rest, beetles, crickets, centipedes, ticks, cockroachs and a really strange insect with what looks like the body of a beetle but it has a long straw like mouth that comes to a tip. Focusing all my eyes on finding the centipedes that are around me and go to work ripping the heads off them or simply tearing them in half. As I'm doing that the other bugs turn their attention on me and start to bite, pinch, stab and kick against my body.
The beetles use their mandibles grabbing hold of my arms or legs as they try to crush and pull me apart, skin slowly ripping under the pressure and blood oozing from my wounds. The crickets and cockroaches use their legs to kick me in my back and stomach some of them trying to kick toward my face but instead of being hit in the head, my bloody maw of bone teeth open and bite through some times completely tearing off the legs that tried to kick me before swallowing it whole.
The damage slowly builds up on my body as blood pools toward the ground, I keep killing and ripping apart any of the insects that look poisonous my mind slowly grinding to a halt. The next thing I know I'm waking up in the center of the village slowly I tried to move as I feel the pain ripple through my body causing me to let out a distorted grunt of pain. Bodies of insects are piled high in front of me and off to the side I can see another pile much smaller but a pile nonetheless, a pile of villagers.
I can feel all the damage that's been done to me, My arms and legs are missing chunks of flesh that has been covered with some kind of compound mix of grass and leaves stopping the blood from flowing out. A few of my eyes have been injured making it harder to see all around me pain shooting through my body every time I open my eyes. One of my arm bones is broken and healing slow.
[Monster you've brought damage to the village, Never before has a wave like this happened I think the ecosystem is trying to balance it out by getting rid of you which means after you've healed we must ask you to leave it]
I catch sight of the deerling standing about ten feet from me on my back left side. Without giving a reply to her instead I slowly hobble and limp my way over to the mass of dead insects and begin to slowly eat hoping that doing this will help my body to heal faster. Feeling my flesh worm and knit itself back together is a good sign.
[I will eat then i will leave, I'll also leave most of the bodies here for them to use I apologize for having led that wave here but I had to survive and knew that was my best chance]
Seeing her face grow angry knowing that I'm the one who brought them to the village she stomps away back to her house, continue to sit there and eat as many of the bodies as possible. No longer could I feel the poison in my blood which is a good sign it means that somehow my body detoxified itself or built up a resistance to it.
Making the decision to not go deeper with how weak my body is, I decide to head up to the surface. Starting the long travel up the tunnel the deerling told me leads to the surface i came across smaller bugs and creature's not caring i avoid most of them because i can still feel pain and blood drip of me.
It took hours to get close to the surface, killing what i could when i got hungry and devouring the body and blood of each thing. Before going all the way up i stopped and dug a tunnel into the side of the cave wall. I made a small burrow and sealed the entrance with dirt before going into a deep sleep so i could strengthen and mutate my body.
Picking though the options and deciding I came out with an upgrade to my claws, eyes and skin,
Jointed Claws - Adds finger like joint through the claws allow them to move and different angles and snap straight for a whip like cut.
Heat Perception - Eyes gain the sensory organs that pick up heat blooms from any sources by focusing can see up to 15 feet and even through objects.
Enhanced Skin Reinforcement - Hardening the skin even further making it as strong as rock and making the skin a few inches thicker.
After my mutation started I felt it again my skin pulled and stretched over my body causing a pinching feeling. My claws snapped and broke it felt just like someone hitting each finger with a hammer and breaking the joints backwards. My eyes felt a heated pain as if they're staring into the sun for prolonged hours. The pain went on for a few hours before waking up and stretching, moving my claws I could feel each joint in them, five joints in each claw letting me bend them almost all the way back ontop of my hands.
Opening my eyes and squinting slightly I start to pick up heat sources on the other side of the wall and a little further below me, it's like a moving cloud of red or orange vapor. Standing up, spines on my back flat down I manage to touch the ceiling knowing my body didn't grow my eyes scan my body and see my thick skin grew making it harder to see my bones and muscles.
[Alright i guess its time to go to the surface finally out of this dark tunnel filled with bugs, Yuck they tasted like shit and looked sooo gross, Not even thinking of ice cream made it better]
