"I don't understand, we were starting to make such good progress," I said, walking to stand behind the cash register.
The cafe was brimming with customers today. It was pouring cats and dogs out there and all that rain was driving the people in the streets to the cafe.
Maddy wheeled herself behind the counter and pushed the door to the kitchen open with her good leg. "Kayla! Table 2 and 6 haven't got their orders yet!" She said and wheeled back towards me. "Maybe what you said that night really did upset him, maybe it was the 'fake girlfriend' comment."
I shook my head. "That doesn't make any sense."
Maddy popped her left brow up, "It doesn't?" She deadpanned.
"That fish-hook in your eye look doesn't really look as effective with you in a wheelchair."
Maddy rolled her eyes, "Skylar, come on. Isn't it crystal clear already? He obviously has a thing for you and that comment upset him."
