Chapter 31 - Blazing Anger

A cold gust of wind accompanied the mournful cry of Sheila that made the despairing moment more agonizing.

Yeshua was shocked by what happened. He carefully looked at the severed head on the ground and realized why Sheila cried with despair. He realized the identity of the bison. It was James!

The kind hunter who advised Yeshua about the dangers of the forest was already dead. Yeshua could not believe that he would meet the calm man he met a month ago in this manner.

The goat Cesar also staggered when he saw the state of his best friend. The two of them knew each other since they were children. So the grief that he was feeling devastated him. But when he heard the mournful cry of Sheila and looked at her, he stopped himself from succumbing to his grief.

James told Cesar to protect Sheila and Jason. James stayed behind to hold off the pack of wolves. He sacrificed his life for them. If their grief made them lose control, James sacrificed would be for nothing!

The goat Cesar hurried to Sheila's side. He held her and shook her from her stupor. "Sheila! Take a hold of yourself! Jason still needs us! His injuries are severe. He's already losing control. Do you want the two of you to turn into ferals?!"

After hearing Cesar, the reddening eyes of Sheila absentmindedly looked at the bleeding bull-man on the ground. Because of the severe injuries he had, Jason was losing control.

When they encountered the wolf pack, James decided that they should escape. The four Alterers fought as they escaped. James and Jason took all the brunt of the attacks while they were supported by Cesar and Sheila.

Among the four, Jason's disposition made him easily affected by savageness. The exhaustion and injuries drained his will. Then, he was attacked by the alpha Wind Wolf when he was already influenced by savageness.

Jason should have been unconscious due to the severity of the attack but his savageness affected his state of mind. Jason was left in a state where he was drifting from consciousness to unconsciousness. The sliver of consciousness he had was instinctively maintaining his Alter form but he was not sane enough to deactivate it.

Jason needed me, Sheila thought amidst her grief. So she gathered all her will and resisted the temptation of losing control. The crimson glow in Sheila's eyes gradually lessened.

After she took control of herself, Sheila hugged Jason's head. She already used all their healing medicines to him. Jason's injuries were so severe that the medicines would still take some time to take effect.

"Jason, calm down. You have to control yourself. I don't want you to turn into a monster. Aren't we going to be together for the rest of our lives? Don't leave me as well. Elder brother James, he…" Sheila's sobs drowned her words.

A shivering sheep woman could be seen cuddling the head of a bull man as glistening tears mixed with the flowing blood. The scene was so heartbreaking that Yeshua trembled from anger. Yeshua looked at the alpha Wind Wolf. His eyes were blazing with rage.

"Grr, you piece of…" Yeshua was really angry this time. He could not help but be furious at the sinisterness of this alpha Wind Wolf.

Spirit beasts also had intelligence. Some of these beasts were crafty and sinister. This alpha Wind Wolf was especially cruel.

Showing the severed head of James was to spite his companions and to anger them. With that, they might be overwhelmed by their emotion and would not escape. They would fight the alpha wolf despite its strength. This was what the Wind Wolf wanted.

The alpha Wind Wolf bared its fangs like it was sneering. It was gathering the wind and looked like it would not give them time anymore to mourn James's death. The other wind wolf was also preparing itself to follow its alpha in pouncing on Yeshua and the others.

"Old goat, can you hold off the other Wind Wolf? I'll deal with this Stage 4 Wind Wolf." Yeshua said in an angry growling voice.

"Y-you… Boy, are you sure you can deal with it?" Cesar was shocked by what Yeshua said.

With the strength that Yeshua showed, it was possible that he could escape. Yeshua did not need to fight the alpha wolf. Yeshua could just escape alone and leave them. It was not like Yeshua was close to them and had an obligation to protect them.

However, their situation was almost hopeless from Cesar's perspective. They would not be able to escape with the Stage 4 Wind Wolf pursuing them. With Sheila and Jason as his charge, Cesar was sure that he alone could not protect them.

Cesar did not understand how strong Yeshua was. He did not know if Yeshua could really deal with the alpha wolf or he was just risking his life. They already implicated Yeshua with their problem. Cesar did not want the young Alterer with a bright future to die because of them.

But Cesar was pushed by his desperation. Though he felt guilty, Cesar still clung to the possibility that Yeshua could really deal with the Stage 4 Wind Wolf.

After he saw Yeshua nodded his wolf head, Cesar swallowed his shame and answered Yeshua with determination. "Even if I die, I will give my all to hold it off!"

"Heh, just persist for a while. I'll try my best to finish that bastard quickly. Don't die old goat. If you die, you won't be able to see beautiful things anymore, hehe." Yeshua said jokingly.

"You cheeky brat…" Cesar was trying to show his determination but this rascal Yeshua still had time to joke. "Humph, what do you know about the beauty of this world? And also, I already told you that I have a respectable name!" Though Cesar spoke angrily, that at least lightened his mood.

Yeshua just smirked again and did not answer Cesar. He cloaked himself with blue wind and madly dashed towards the alpha Wind Wolf.

Yeshua was very angry. He did not really know these Alterers but after witnessing the despair they suffered, Yeshua was reminded of the time when he lost the people important to him. Both the two fused souls inside him experienced that despairing loss.

The true Yeshua became gloomy and quiet that he only had Bobo as a friend while the new Yeshua hid his sadness with his jests. But both the two souls suffered a pain that only those who experienced the same would understand!

That was why Yeshua completely understood the pain that Cesar and Sheila were experiencing at this moment as these two Alterers buried that pain for Jason who still needed them!

Yeshua wanted to deal with the alpha Wind Wolf, but it was not because of some altruistic reason. He was not someone who will risk his life just for anyone. Also, the strength of the alpha Wind Wolf would make it difficult for Yeshua.

In this past month, Yeshua chose battles that he would not have to risk his life. Indeed, he had trump cards but it was not like they were easy to use. If he could fight battles that he did not need to play with death but enough for his training, then wouldn't it be better?

However, humans were emotional creatures. There were times emotions won over rationality.

Yeshua just wanted to release the blazing anger he was feeling at this moment. The anger that was amplified by the memories of the two souls and the tendency of Alterers to show their subdued emotions reigned on Yeshua.

And what was the best way to appease Yeshua's anger? That sneering Wind Wolf would become his punching bag!

The alpha Wind Wolf saw Yeshua charging at it, so it also dashed violently while swishing winds covered its body.

Wind Dash!

Two mad beasts were charging like grand chariots while they left trails of dust and their shadows. As the two blue flashes of light clashed, a gale exploded!

It produced whips of lights glinting with sharpness and slashed everything around. The gale caused the surroundings of the two ferocious beasts to be torn apart!

Bang!

Then suddenly, a large blue wolf had been blasted away from the center of the violent gale. It was the alpha Wind Wolf!

It seemed that Yeshua gained the advantage in their clash. Yeshua had the strength that almost reached Level 1 Stage 5 Alterer despite only being at Stage 3. The Wind Wolf was at Level 1 Stage 4, so it was expected that Yeshua was able to push it back.

A dark blue werewolf could be seen in the center of the whirling blue wind. The wolf Yeshua was crouching as his razor sharp claws dug to the dirt. His eyes blazed with rage as he bared his fangs furiously.

"Damn animal, grr. You really angered me. I'll make sure that I'll tear that sinister face of yours! Roar!"

After roaring madly, the werewolf Yeshua charged towards the alpha Wind Wolf again.
