"Why did you being me to?" Sofia asked Damian as they stopped in front of a building on the edge of a large city.
"My father would have likely had you cast out of Heaven for helping me anyways." Damian explained while walking into the building and Sofia could feel nonhuman power coming from the occupants, "This was the better outcome."
"I heard you didn't care for anyone other than yourself." Sofia said as she studied the man behind the counter, "I know you didn't bring me just because of that. You've killed angels, demons and monsters for simply being near you."
"Because you didn't get in my way. Even my sister constantly tries to stop me or convince me their way is better but you didn't. It was clear that you didn't agree with how things were being done either." Damian told her as they sat at a table, "Don't look around so much. These people simply want Heaven or Hell to leave them alone and if things will get ugly if they think you're being suspicious."
"How do you know about this place?" She asked as a waiter came to them, "Why did you bring us here?"
"I came across this place when after my mother died and was trying to avoid Heaven before I ended up in Hell." Damian explained, "As for why we're here is because I'm waiting."
"Waiting for what?" Sofia asked before she felt her back to begin to burn and her wings came out. Damian looked at the man at the counter and he quickly pulled out a case from under the counter and ran over to them. Damian watched as her wings ignited and the man began to pull out different vials and instruments from the case. Sofia began to scream and Damian held her tightly so she wouldn't interrupt the man. An angelic symbol appeared around them as the man began to chant something neither of them could understand and Sofia slowly began to calm down as her wings healed. She fell unconscious as the symbol disappeared and the man handed Damian keys to a room upstairs without a word. Damian thanked him as he picked Sofia up and made his way to the room. He set her on the bed and made his way back downstairs.
"It has been quite a while Damian." A man said as he walked into the office behind the counter, "I trust he was able to help her."
"She should be ok but Heaven is going to be heading for us soon." Damian said as he leaned against the wall, "They aren't very happy with me right now."
"What did you do this time?" The man asked with a laugh, "Don't tell me you picked a fight up there."
"They took this from me while I was unconscious." Damian explained as he handed his sword to the man and his eyes widened as he drew it from its scabbard, "You made my guns and I wanted to see if you could make a sword like mine."
"I'm guessing you don't want that girl you there to be defenseless?" He asked as he examined the blade with intensity, "It won't be as powerful but I should be able to make a second one."
"How long will it take?" Damian asked with an unsurprised look, "Like I said Heaven is going to come for us but we should have a few days because of the war."
"It'll be done before you need to leave." He said as they left the room, "Go get some rest. You're gonna need it."
"Probably." Damian agreed as began to make his way back to the room. He shut the door behind him and sat in the chair next to the bed. His eyes felt heavier and he quickly drifted off to sleep. A few hours later he opened his eyes as Sofia jumped off of the bed with a glare.
"What happened to me?!" Sofia asked with angrily as she manifested her wings. They were slightly damaged but they would heal.
"Heaven tried to strip your angelic powers and I brought us here knowing they would. Like I said people come here to avoid the other realms and the man who owns this place helps with that." Damian explained and tears began to strip her face. Damian didn't know what to say so he remained quiet as she sobbed.
"I don't want this." Sofia said and Damian gave her a soft look, "Why do things have to be this way?"
"That is how Heaven really runs. You either abide every rule and order or you end up like this." Damian explained with clenched fists, "That's why I don't side with anyone. All they do is take and give nothing but pain in return."
"What am I supposed to do?" Sofia asked as she wiped her face, "All I've ever known is Heaven."
"Whatever you want to." He told her calmly, "On Earth they can't order you around but they will be after us soon."
"I went from being a high ranked soldier of Heaven's forces to a fugitive." Sofia said with a blank stare and Damian flicked her forehead, "What the hell was that for?!"
"Good you're not broken. I've been trying to run from them for years and now I'm done with that." Damian said with a sigh, "I don't know if they have orders to kill us or take us in but the angels are probably going to ignore them and try to kill us."
"I don't want to have to kill my comrades." Sofia said and she was surprise when with Damian spiked his power for a moment.
"It's kill or be killed and nothing more. That's the world we live in. Think about the Extermination Day in Hell." Damian told her before they heard a knocking at the door, "Come in."
"Here you go young lady." A man said as he handed her and Damian their swords, "The master has put all of his effort into making your blade as quickly as he could."
"You had them make me a sword?" Sofia asked as she drew the sword from its white scabbard and examined the white and gold blade. She could feel the power it held and began to swing it with such finesse that even Damian was shocked. He shook his head to clear his mind and turned to the man.
"They're on the way then?" Damian asked and the man nodded his head before leaving the room, "The old man said it wouldn't be as strong as mine but if he really went all out then it's probably just as strong."
"So you had him duplicate your sword?" Sofia asked him with a confused look and he nodded his head, "Why?"
"If you're going to accompany me then I don't need you holding me back with worthless weaponry." Damian explained and both of their swords began to vibrate, "Something has messed reality nearby. Most likely a portal from Heaven."
"Shouldn't we start trying to find your sister instead of fighting them?" She asked as she tied the scabbard to her belt, "She probably won't last much longer."
"They won't harm her because they want me to come to them. Either way we can't get to them without one of their portals." Damian told her and saw that she was about to say something, "No I can't just go somewhere I haven't been. Even if I could there's no telling where I'd end up there."
"They are closing in fast." Sofia said as their swords vibrated faster. Damian nodded and they quickly left the building to keep Heaven from finding out about it. Heaven's forces were close enough for the two to feel their energy and Damian put his hand on Sofia's shoulder.
"If you don't want to I can handle them." Damian said in an uncharacteristicly kind voice. She took a deep breath and Damian grinned when her eyes became focused as she hardened her resolve.
