"Are we all set now?
Erin calmy looks at all of their comrades and allies. They are loaded with firearms and weaponry. It's still dark and cold. The sun is still not rising from the horizon. The only thing they could hear is the loud cockadoodledoo from the chickens some of the residents manage to take care of all the survivors' food supplies on the farm. As she turns around, she releases a deep breath.
'Everything is happening so fast,' Erin can't help but be frustrated inside. But she must show her usual brave front especially at times like this. Or else, it might cause harm to her friends.
"Yes, we are all set." Fernando runs towards Erin after he has done his final checking. One by one they boarded the same truck they used to get here.
"Good, " Erin nods her head in response.
Erin felt someone tap my shoulders. As she looks behind her, she could see the worried face of Liza.
"Are you sure, you're ok Erin?" Liza said worry is all over her voice.
Erin remembers the box that contains their engagement ring, with Lucas' ring finger on it. She closes her eyes as she could feel a throbbing pain inside her chest.
"Of course, I'm not, who would feel right seeing something like that, unless they are some sort of robot," Erin said in a jokingly manner.
"Yeah right," Liza look at Erin and gave her a sad smile,"
"But I don't have the time to think about that now. It might be just a prank of someone," Erin tas the left shoulders of Erin.
"Erin, Who has time to do pranks in this kind of situation. In the worst-case scenario, Lucas might be dead al..."
*Bang!*
Erin punches the rear door of the truck. Liza's face hold surprise and didn't finish her words. Erin's obsidian black eyes were now filled with anger. 'Why the heck she said those words,' Liza really wants to slap her blabbermouth.
"Liza, he's not dead. I would only believe that if I've seen his cold body and not just some bloody finger,"
"Erin I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say those words,"
"Let's see each other again, Liza, be safe"
Erin hops inside the left side of the driver seat of the truck, leaving the silent Liza.
'Lucas is not dead, I know that. Or maybe he is, he did say that he will die if he's away inches away from me,' Erin tries to console herself remembering those memories but it reverted back to the bloody finger. 'Lucas, if you die, I will not forgive you,"
"Please, come back safe Erin," Liza mumbles as she looks at Erin who only avoids her gaze.
"Take care, Liza." Fred taps Liza's shoulders as he entered the truck.
Erin's eyes connected to Carlo as he also stared at her with worry before he put his helmet on and get on the motorbike.
The ones who will come with to the harbor of the ship in the news are Carlo, Fred, Fernando, and five of his man including the gal called Jason who is still giving me glares.
"Honey, did you really need to go?" the wife of Fernando, whose name is Edala said.
"Yes. I must do this," Fernando then kissed Edala's head. "The kids?" he inquired.
"They are still asleep. It's still early four in the morning after all." Diana sigh. "Please come back alive at all cost. ok? I love you so much, honey,"
"I will, I love you too," Fernando hop on the driver's seat after a few more idle chats.
They all hit the road.
If they haven't met any problems on the road, they will reach the fiord within an hour or two.
As Erin looks at the trees they pass by, Memories from her chat with Carlo, resurface in her mind. When she left them to need to get some time alone after seeing the box. She went to some isolated place on the farm.
"The ship is a trap." She didn't notice that Carlo followed her.
"Ship...Ahh, right that ship." Erin's voice sounds nonchalant.
"I didn't just say it because of some gut feeling. I've got a second text from Lucas just before, we received that box."
Erin faced him. Her attention is now all focused on him.
"Message?"
"Yes, here it is."
Carlo lends Erin his phone. And indeed the message came from Lucas.
[Lucas: Don't conmme to the shipp, trap...]
The message was a bit messy, he must have texted this in a hurry.
Erin clenches her fist and she rubs my hair. Old gramps is in danger. While it is unknown what is the situation of Lucas.
After this, she intends to go to the Ino-tech building and find Lucas there.
From the plantation to the harbor, it is a smooth ride. There are few zombies which the other men just snipe out on the way.
"We're here." Erin turns her head to Fernando's voice who is removing his seatbelt.
"Yeah." She answered with no emotions in her voice.
She removes her seatbelt as she hops out of the truck. But then they heard multiple gunshots.
There is a high wall made of iron net barricades surrounding the harbor. On the other side, near the fiord were soldiers, who kept firing the zombies that are outside of the net.
*Boom!* Erin and the others felt the vibration of something that explodes inside the fiord.
"Erin! Look!" Fred pointed out something. His voice is shaky and his hands are trembling.
Erin looks at what causes the always calm Fred, to shake.
Her eyes widen with horror, appalled to see what Fred points out.
"Oh! F*cker!" The other people that are with her, curse when they saw what Erin seeing right now.
"Is that some kind of monster?!"
Inside the harbor is a huge monster, that is three-story high. With tentacles all over its grotesque red and black scaly body. It looks like a giant octopus with multiple eyes.
"Ahhh!"
"Keep on firing!"
People inside the fiord are screaming as they run for their lives and the soldiers are keep on fighting and firing their guns.
But that monster is not the only thing to worry about. There are also other zombies that already manage to go inside the barricades and scatters everywhere.
'WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THIS?!' Fernando curses more
Erin's phone rang. She immediately picks it when she sees the caller, it's her gramps!
"Gramps! Where are you right now?!" Erin shouts in frustration.
"Erin! Don't come here!"
But instead of answering her question, he just told her that instead. And the call was cut.
"Shit!"
Erin brought out her gun. As she shot an incoming zombie.
"Erin, do we still need to go?" Fred asks with a shaky voice.
"Those who want to leave, you are free to do so. But I need to go." Erin said as she brought out another gun. "I know you have families back at the farm, so you don't need to risk your life here,"
"The Procuratio-Exi, are no cowards and will help a comrade in need, we will come with you, Erin" Fernando steps beside me, so do his men who loaded their guns.
"That old man is like a parent to me, I will come, Erin," Carlo said as he unsheathed his guns.
"Erin, you're not alone in this, I will help too. I will go too..."Fred sigh as he brought out his gun.
But Erin cut her off, "Fred, I need you to stay here in the truck, in case we need to hurriedly leave or something came up, we need you to back us up," Erin said.
"If that's the case, Jason stays with him on the truck too," Fernando said.
"But..." Jason wants to retort but he shut her mouth when he sees the serious look of Fernando.
"Fine," Jason nods his head.
"Then, we are all set. I have one rule, try not to die everyone" Erin says as she leads their way towards the harbor.
"Aye!" They all responded. Something starts to swell inside Erin's heart. 'I'll make sure none of you guys die," Erin thought
Fernando raises his right hand, "Let's go save some assess too, but remember, stay vigilant!"
All of them answered with "Roger!"
They all stealthily and carefully head to the main gate of the barricades.
"Sorry Gramps, we are already here. And I will save you." Erin looks firmly and saw the giant monsters crushing one soldier after another.
"I will not die, and get you out of here gramps"
