"Whew! That took a lot longer that I thought it would," Zeke said while rubbing the mark on his right hand.
"To be frank with you, it did take a long while, I wonder why.." Aelessa said in quiet contemplation, "we shall see in a moment."
Aelessa, while creasing their forehead, looked at their crystal ball to find out what Zeke's elemental alignment would be.
"That's.... uncanny," Aelessa whispered in the most unbelieving way, "I am—I am lost as to what this is, this... this tells me that you are not aligned with any element."
Zeke's face gradually distorted into an expression of confusion, "what does this mean for me?"
"It means just that, you are not beholden to any of the six elements, which is actually unprecedented, and which is why you should let me gather my thoughts so I could at least explain what this is."
"I knew I should've studied and read books and information about the legendary farmer a little bit more," Aelessa whispered through gritted teeth barely audible for Zeke to hear.
"Sorry, I didn't catch what you said."
"It was nothing! Haha just give me a few moments okay?" Aelessa replied hastily.
Lost at what to do about anything at the moment, Zeke decided to just stay still and wait for the wizard to actually find an answer to this predicament. He could clearly tell that even the renowned wizard is taken by surprise and he ignored that fact to avoid hurting the wizard's pride.
After what seems like a short while of Aelessa reading some book that doesn't have any title on the cover, Aelessa sighed and closed the book.
"Well, this outcome seems to be perfectly normal for the farmer the book says, it says here that 'if ever there comes a time when the farmer would ever inspect his elemental alignment and the result is unnatural, it is solely because the Mark of the Farmer could bend the natural laws of this world', this would mean that you will possess a far different elemental sign in you," Aelessa concluded.
Zeke could not help but be furtherly confused, "so, what does this mean? What does having a different elemental alignment do to myself?"
"Simply that, unlike people who were born here and the various realms that are connected to us excluding earth, you aren't restricted to being aligned to one of the seven elements, you possess a power that can contain different combinations of the elements, you might be aligned to two, three or even four elements, the possibilities are numerous, and the results as you can clearly see," Aelessa then revealed Zeke the imagery that was shown to them inside the crystal ball, "the sign that appeared in your mana reading is the resounding and unequivocal number that is zero. A blank canvass that you freely paint on, the non-element of null, which the book states that it only ever appeared to one other farmer whose name is sadly torn off from the book."
"See," Aelessa showed Zeke the page of the person that had this kind of elemental alignment as well, "this sucks, we could've researched a bit more about your power if we knew this person's name."
Zeke wondered why he felt something he could not explain when he looked at the page that Aelessa was showing him, feeling a little uneasy all of the sudden he decided to look towards the crystal ball.
The crystal ball emanates an aura of grayish-white that feels nothing, inside of it is a shape of the number zero with the image of the mark on his right hand in the very middle, Zeke could also feel the resonant power of the sign flowing through his mark causing it to glow calmly, the familiarity of the vision that was inside the crystal ball is so bizarre that Zeke had to blink twice to check if what was happening in front of his was real.
"Whoa.." Zeke could not help but be mesmerized by the thing that he is seeing in front of him, it hasn't totally sunk in yet that magic in this world is totally real, despite Aelessa showing him a bunch of magical stuff earlier.
"Right here tells us that this whole image is exclusively your 'elemental alignment'," Aelessa pointed at the mark right in the middle of the zero shape, "this is the farmer's mark that you and all of your predecessors had. It is still funny only one other person had this elemental alignment, I mean what are the odds right? Frankly speaking, this elemental alignment is the rarest of the rare, could be legendary ranked even, you will have another legendary on top of your legendary farmer title, I hope you use this power well Zeke."
"And I hope you can teach me how to wield such power," Zeke said in determination.
"That's why we're here right?" Aelessa giggled," now we can finally move to the practical part of this 'training'. Alrighty, let's remove all of these stuff and have some space."
With a flick of their hand, Aelessa teleported all of their stuff including the chairs into somewhere else, probably on the other room of the house, the real one and not this pocket space, or maybe in another pocket space.
"Now let's test what a non-elemental user can do, ooh I am getting excited about this! Never in all of my wizarding life would I be able to teach someone of your magical caliber," Aelessa exclaimed, "let's take our time and don't rush things, magic is all about focus and control, or at least that's the principle that I have about it, all different schools have different approach, and we shall go with mine."
"Of course! Let's do this!" Zeke said hyping himself up.
"Okay first things first this is probably the most basic spell there is and it is the very first one every mages all across the realm learn, not only to test how they wield magic but to also measure their magical acuity, some mage are a little or a lot stronger than others naturally and that's just the way how our own mana works. The more powerful magic you can use the higher rank of magic you can use, this is not to say that magic users cannot strengthen their mana reservoirs overtime but basically the higher the amount of mana you could store initially, the more powerful and potent your magic is."
"The novice spell that we are talking about is yes, as you may have guessed it, the spell of illumination, Lux, this spell is not only helpful but useful whenever you are put into a situation where you need a source of light, this would be very useful for your expeditions. Now I imagine that being a non-elemental mage you can easily attune yourself to the element of light and cast this spell."
Zeke nodded as he payed real close attention to the movements of his teacher.
"As someone who is born with an alignment to the element of air, this was an easier spell to use unlike the spells from the element of earth, you see people will have a hard time mastering a spell that uses an element which opposes theirs, so for instance, magic users who are aligned with the dark element will have a really hard time mastering this novice spell, and vice versa. You should always remember this as everything in this realm has their own elemental alignment, which would mean everything has their own weaknesses, you just have to figure them out on your own."
"Internalize within yourself and draw from that reservoir of mana within you, casting magic is a little more simplistic that you might have thought initially. Grab that connection and acquaint yourself with it as this is the most vital step in casting magic: the connection of one's body to it's mana core."
Zeke did just what his teacher said and focused all of his attention inside of him, he tried to tap the mana from inside him and reach its core with his thoughts. He felt something pulling inside of him, like threads of mana that are just waiting to be used, he followed this feeling and once he finally grasped it, he didn't let go and firmly rooted his thoughts and feelings into that core.
"Based from that reaction alone it seems that you have connected within yourself flawlessly, I would assume that you shall feel its effects momentarily," Aelessa said as they waited with their arms crossed.
After Aelessa has said exactly those words, a burst of sudden rawness enveloped Zeke, all of his sensory functions has doubled, he could hear better, see clearer and move lighter. To him, everything feels magnified, he felt so disoriented about the whole process that he involuntarily closed both his eyes.
"Hm.. interesting, his reaction to the change is a bit intense that what usually happens to anyone who goes through this process," Aelessa murmured, "this must mean that his magical ability is exponentially high."
