"Boss, that looks like one of those fabled boundless seed bags," Dirk suggested, "it's basically a never ending supply of one kind of seed."
"It seems so," Zeke replied, "well famine's going to be less of a problem for a time, although we can't be eating potatoes forever."
Wulfric nodded. "Yes, this is why we mustn't rest but for now we enjoy this victory," he genuinely gave everyone a brief smile.
Everyone smiled back at him, including Hawke, forgetting the encounter earlier with the monster, and the fact that he's immensely tired.
Zeke took a moment to himself, then he and the boys decided to go back and call it a day.
As they walk back towards the path of the way they came in everyone realized that the path has been altered, changed, this must be how the dungeon got its name.
"This is no good boss," Dirk said as he examines the ground, "it'll take us a whole day if we go around aimlessly."
The worried expressions that the whole team has is definitely worrying. "We took certain measures and put markers on the trees just for this event, but it seems it didn't work," Wulfric says, "the trees changed as well."
"So, any idea how we can get out of here leader?" Magnus looks to Wulfric for input, trying not to sound worried, "I mean no pressure or anything."
"Yeah I will have one, if you could just shut up for a minute." Wulfric replies frustration and fatigue obvious from his voice.
Magnus gives him a dark, unreadable look, "Alright," he turns away crossing both his arms tightly.
Zeke turned to look at the Dirk and Hawke, but it seems they're unaffected by the exchange between those two, so you try to deescalate the situation. Before he could start to talk, something inside his rucksack started to vibrate.
When he opened it up, he put his hand inside to feel where the source is, and once he got a hold of it he brought it out of his bag.
When Zeke looked at what he is holding, the object is still radiating with soft light but he could see the outline of the key that they obtained earlier from the pedestal near the entrance of the dungeon. His companions gathered around him and as the lights slowly subsides the remaining particles of it suddenly ejects a piercing beam of light in front of him opening up an oval-shaped portal out of thin air.
"From the looks of it, it might be a dimensional teleporter," Hawke said, looking at the gaping portal, "this might just be the solution to our imminent problem, this must mean that the key your are holding boss, is the fabled Key of Dimensions."
"It seems to be very convenient that we came across such a relic," Wulfric added, "but right now, we are in no position to question anything, this is our only way out, if Hawke's information is to be believed."
Wulfric opened his eyes from contemplation. "Alright team let's go home," he commanded.
Everyone all nodded at the same time, not having the energy to verbally respond. Wulfric stepped in first along with Dirk, Zeke followed behind them closely, still unsure how to feel about the said teleporter. Unsurprisingly, it didn't feel anything as he passed through portal and he saw himself coming out of the pedestal at the beginning of the dungeon at the other end of the portal.
He saw Magnus, and Hawke coming out the portal not long after him and he could almost see the relieved expression from Hawke as he looked around his surrounding.
"Finally!" Dirk exclaimed, "that was one hell of an expedition for our first time. Even though it felt like we didn't do so much, I feel totally spent."
"No kidding, heh," Magnus replied, still seemingly unaffected by his exchange with Wulfric earlier as he playfully ruffled Dirk's hair.
Wulfric who still has his arms crossed and his face still with no emotion, walks towards Magnus. "About earlier, f—forgive my outburst … Shield-Brother, it was—it was uncalled for."
Magnus stopped messing Dirk's head.
"It—it was wrong of me to lash out like that, and I have no excuses for what I did," he gazed downwards, regretfully ashamed of his actions.
"It's alright bro, no need for all that," he hugged Wulfric, then kissed his cheek, "I know being the leader all the while watching out for the farmer is a huge undertaking, so I understand."
The camaraderie between the two is warming to look at if not a little unexpected, Zeke couldn't help but smile at them.
Wulfric was taken aback then looked at Magnus, tightening the hug then whispered a thank you to his ear. "Hey I want some hug too!" Dirk playfully whined.
He crashed with the other two as he tackles them with his body and outstretched arms to hug both of their hulking stature with his leaner one. They all fell on the ground and laughed at their situation. Zeke joined in and laugh at their silliness.
"Alright, now that that's out of the way, let us continue," Hawke gently interjects, "the sun is already setting from the view in the window."
"Ahem— right," Wulfric says gathering himself, "at your command boss, let's officially end our first official expedition.
