Chapter 18 - OUR NIGHT

"And you know my regret now, Max? I can't do anything about my situation like this." said Marey with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You have to be patient, Marey, now you have Dean to take care of you. Nothing will happen to you again. Dean will take care of you until you can walk again." said Max, calming Marey's heart.

"You're right, Max, there's Dean taking care of me now. But what about Dean himself? do you know Max? Dean's life won't be long. Dean has Max's leukemia." Marey said, crying softly, not wanting Dean to hear it.

"Oh my God Marey? Is it true? I can't believe a guy as nice as Dean has leukemia. Isn't there any way out for Dean to stay alive, Marey?" asked Max sadly.

Marey shook her head sadly.

"No more Max, Doctor Chan has said there is no hope of life for Dean other than extending his life a few more months." said Marey as he wiped her tears.

"I can't believe this, Marey? Are we gonna lose Dean forever?" asked Max with his full gaze.

"I don't know Max, for sure I will continue to encourage Dean to survive." said Marey, strengthening her heart not to cry anymore.

"I will also encourage Dean. Don't worry, Marey, hope there's a good way for Dean." said Max, holding Marey's hand.

Marey nodded her head slowly.

"What are you talking about? looks so serious?" Dean asked suddenly appearing in front of Marey and Max.

"Are you up Dean? why are you here. Do you need anything? why not just call me?" said Marey staring at Dean who was still pale.

"I don't need anything. Marey, I hear Max's voice. So I wanted to meet and talk to Max." said Dean as he sat beside Max.

"You wanna talk about Dean? Max already knows about you Dean." said Marey with a full gaze.

Dean turned to Max with a slightly surprised face.

"So you already know that I'm Dean Max? It's been a while since we went out on a trip with Max?" said Dean, patting Max's shoulder.

"From the first time I met you, I was very sure that you are Dean, I seem to know you very well. Take it easy Dean, when I have school holidays we will go on a trip again." said Max with a happy face.

Dean smiled nodding his head.

"I know Max, your attitude never changes to me." said Dean feeling happy to be close to Max.

Max smiled and then looked alternately at Dean and Marey.

"It's best if you both get married, so you can take care of each other." said Max with a serious face.

"What you said is true Max, I really intend to marry Marey. But I will try to make Marey walk again, so that when we get married, Marey can walk on both legs. And it won't take long, I'm sure Marey can walk again." said Dean confidently.

"Are you sure Dean? Did you know the state of her legs, Marey?" asked Max with his full gaze.

"I could see Marey's legs could move even to stand up, but Marey's leg bones might not be that strong. So I've decided that tomorrow morning I'll take Marey to see Doctor Chan." said Dean as he grabbed Marey's hand who was sitting in her wheelchair.

"Thank goodness Dean, I hope what you guys want will come true. I'm sure you two will be happy after getting married. And I want to have a nephew as soon as possible." said Max with a laugh.

Hearing Max's funny words, made Dean and Marey laugh too.

"Okay, Marey, Dean, I'll go home first. Marey, don't you sleep at home. Remember tomorrow afternoon Mom and Dad will be home." said Max, reminding Marey not to disappoint his parents.

Marey nodded her head, fully understanding what Max meant.

Marey gave Dean a deep gaze for a moment.

"Dean I have to go home, before we get married I can't sleep here." said Marey with a sad look.

"Marey, you have to remember. We're engaged, and I will definitely marry you. If you are afraid of the local people. Let Jack meet the chief of residents here, tonight too." said Dean while giving a message to Jack to immediately ask for permission from the head of the community so there would be no misunderstanding.

"That would be better Dean, and it will be even better when Mom and Dad come over and you meet them and talk about all that happened." said Max, feeling relieved that the head of the community would find out that Marey and Dean were engaged.

"Of course, Max, don't worry anymore. When your parents come tomorrow. My parents are going to your house." said Dean with a smile.

"Thank God then Dean, I'm so relieved to hear that. Then I'll go home first." said Max as he brought his food and hugged Dean.

Dean smiled, then led Max to the door.

Still with a smile, Dean approached Marey who was staring at him.

"So what about Mr. Dean, do I have to go home or stay here to keep you company?" Marey asked happily that Dean was so caring and taking good care of herself.

"Of course, you have to stay here Marey. I'm still sick, if you don't take care of me? what if something happens to me and i die?" Dean said not continuing because Marey's hand had closed his mouth with her teary eyes.

"Don't talk like that Dean, I'm not going anywhere. I'll take care of you, nothing will happen to you Dean. You will not die." said Marey then hugged Dean very tightly.

"Thanks Marey." Said Dean couldn't say anything but hugged Marey happily.

His wish for the last time was fulfilled. Marey didn't hate him anymore. Marey was back in his possession.

After hugging for a long time, releasing all sadness and channeling the pent up longing, Marey let go of her hug.

"It's night, Dean, you better go to bed." said Marey looking at Dean with a look full of love.

Dean nodded his head then pushed Marey's wheelchair into the room.

"You should sleep too, Marey, sleep with me here. I wont do anything to you before we get married." said Dean while gently rubbing Marey's face.

Marey nodded her head according to what Dean said.

"Come on, Marey, I'll help you get on the bed." said Dean while lifting Marey's body and laying her down on the bed.

Marey's heart was touched by Dean's care and affection.

With a happy feeling Dean lay beside Marey and relieved his fatigue by sleeping with Marey.
