On the topic of "not surviving for much longer", everyone's started gathering once again. Let's see.. so far I've learned to run, or I guess you could call that sprinting, I can also expand my blades wide enough to hover, but no matter how many times I've tried flapping those bad boys, nothing interesting happened. I can't say I'm surprised, though. More than anything else, I just feel jealous. Why, you ask?
"It's that guy." I pointed my arm at a vagabond with painfully shiny, golden blades.
Sure, he got a crappy metal to work with, but that is not a problem a grown one can deal with. Oh, but he is quite the opposite. A young vagabond, just like myself.
But if you recall, I'm the only one being held back on the island, cause he knows how to fly.
"Hah. Even the weakest type of vagabond can learn to fly with the help of an elder." It's unfair, more than anything.
He's basically just a spoiled brat. Was born as a son of the elder, who of course took good care of him, taught him hows to fly, fight, and all the other things necessary for survival. But he didn't bother teaching me. It's not like I'm worse in any way, in fact I have a better material, plasteel.
The real reason I was abandoned was simply a lack of care. Of course he doesn't give a shit about me, after all ain't his personal child.
Actually, screw being jealous, I'm glad I wasn't raised by such a douche. At least I'll have my pride, whatever that's worth.
He looked at me, eyes squinted.
"That's a smirk alright." He's actually making fun of me, hah? I bet he feels supreme, being born by our leader himself.
Slicing the ground below me, I gave him an aggressive stare. The golden vagabond immediately took a step back, as expected. He's not fit to survive, that much is obvious. That's what happens if you have overprotective parents. I bet our leader doesn't even realize he's doomed his son for eventual failure.
Oh well, that's not my problem.

The wind is getting worse by the minute. Everyone understood that staying here for any longer will just wipe away any hope of success, so, without prolonging the takeoff they line up along the edge of the island, their blades spread wide and thin, just like wings.
A gust of wind. Half the vagabonds lost their balance.
"It's looking grim." They're barely staring up ring on the ground. I can't imagine things going well for in the air, especially as the weather gets even worse.
The elder bowed to me again, pretending to be sorry. The wind briefly died down, and in this silence, everyone directed their looks at him.
A nod; Following his command, everyone took off, the massive force of wind tearing grass out and launching me back a few meters.
"Oh, go eat a dick dude." Ya can't be sorry and do nothing about it.
I watched them slowly gain height, my heart beating faster and faster. Looks like I'm scared of being left alone to starve, after all. Who wouldn't be?..
Being positive really isn't easy in this sort of situation.
I watched fleeing pack, sending them away with many gaze. It now looks lime I'm watching a like of organized dots make their way through the air.
"What's this?" I noticed their flying pattern was odd. They were supposed to be flying the shape of a cone, in order of their respective power. The elder at the front, his close subordinates on his four sides, that is one below, above, to the left, and to the right, but all slightly set behind him. And the same with the others, which results in a cone shape.
But, something seemed off about their "flight cone", like one side of it was dented. Almost as if a giant object was in their way. Maybe there was a mini cyclone in the air running their order.
Haah, I didn't wanna do it to preserve energy, but if I'm dying anyways, staying alive for a day longer won't matter. I'll direct some of my nutrient supply, which has long turned into energy, and direct it into my eyes.
The glow in my eyes became hundreds of times more intense, and I felt like I could see as far as the world goes.
I should be able to make out every detail with my enhanced eyesight now.
I raised my head at the pack ahead.
"W-what? Ahaha. This is absurd." I felt my knees give in as I plopped down on the torn ground below.
The winds brought a monster upon these lands.
