Chapter 10 - 10: Kylie’s POV

The tournament had gone well so far, we won every match putting us in the finals. It was a rather demanding day for everyone as we trudged onto the next field for the final game of the day. Winning team would be staying two more days and get trained with professional soccer teams and get to have dinner, photos, and conversations with them as well.

"Ladies circle up!" Coach yelled once we reached the field causing us to join around her "I know we've had a day from hell with injuries and being extremely exaughsted as you should. I can promise you one thing though, if we stay in this, play smart, and work together, tonight could be one from heaven! I am proud of each and everyone of you for what we have accomplished so far and I will continue to be proud of you no matter what happens tonight."

We all grinned deviously at one another and I nodded at coach before we cheered and then placed our stuff on the bench.

"Good luck out there." Skylar whispered in my ear causing me to flush pink

"Good luck to you as well." I smiled trying not to lose my focus I had maintained all day completely

The thought of last night had replayed in my mind on a loop every time she looked at me or touched me and I loved every second of it. I took a breathe as we started getting ready to play by warming up slowly to stretch out our sore muscles. Once we were all warmed up the announcements sounded off loudly from the speakers and then we took the field. Madlin High was our final opponent and also one of my personal least favorites teams to play. The game began at a slow even pace that left the score 0-0 into halftime. We drank our water and rested while listening to coaches half time speech but we were dead tired by this point half listening at most.

"Girls pay attention!" She yelled causing everyone's heads to short to her "This is not over ladies, I know how tired you are, I've been there. You feel as though you can't keep going, but you can, you've gotta push yourselves. The only thing this game is going to come down to is who wanted it more and who lost hope too soon. Keep your heads in this and we can win, I believe in you girls."

By the end of her speech we were all feeling a bit better from the seems of it. We got ahead 1-0 in the next few minutes of the game and then they tied up 1-1 a few minutes later. Time was now starting to run out and none of us wanted to go into overtime at this point.

"Kylie!" Skylar yelled causing me to spin around and look at her

I was confused for a moment until I saw Claire kick the ball to Skylar who then booted it straight at me. I caught it with my chest and then dribbled for a few feet before passing it to Page. She dribbled a few steps and then shot into the top left corner of the goal. We high fived one another and then focused again on the other team who had so far failed to tie it back up. The game ended 2-1 in our favor and the entire team let out screams as we celebrated.

~4 Hours Later~

"That was crazy!" Skylar laughed as we sat on the couches of the hotel lounge

Page chuckled in response and I spoke "Yeah I know I really can't believe we won, I mean I believed it us but it's just so fucking crazy!"

"Agreed." Page smiled "That play we all had together was awesome."

Claire smirked "That was one hell of a play."

"Are you guys tired yet?" Skylar asked yawning slightly

"Eh not really." Claire shrugged

I smiled "I think it's just you Skylar."

She smirked "Sorry I had a long night, someone kept me awake."

I rolled my eyes blushing slightly and Clair quickly interrupted "Are you two dating or something?"

Skylar seemed confident but I imagined I looked like something between a ghost and a piece of paper.

"We're not dating." I told her still nervous, like hella fucking nervous, like hey I'm admitting there's something going on nervous

"Mhm," she hummed "but there is something going on am I wrong?"

"Something is." Skylar nodded

Claire smirked "You better hope Amanda doesn't find out."

"Fuck her." Skylar laughed seeming unafraid of anything Amanda could possibly do

~1 Hour Later~

"God they talk a lot." Skylar whined once we were back in the room

I rolled my eyes "So do you hun."

"Someone's sassy tonight." She joked falling onto the bed

I grinned down at her "someone's grumpy tonight."

She stuck her tongue out at me "I am not."

"Is that why you're acting like a child?" I asked falling into the bed next to her

"No I just like to have fun." She stated rolling over to look at me

"I know that silly, I'm just messing with your adorable grumpy ass." I laughed poking her nose

She smiled softly "You really are more confident than usual."

"I'm getting used to you now." I smiled kissing her cheek

"Ah I see, do you need me to disappear for a bit and come back so you don't get too confident?" She joked pretending to be serious

I rolled my eyes "I'm not even being that confident."

"You should be." She stated with a wink

Being with Skylar truly was something I had never experienced before. It was so exciting and new but also soft and amazing in so many ways that I could hardly control my nerves around her. Butterflies, sweaty palms, whatever else comes along with being extremely nervous, I felt it around her but I couldn't quite place why. It wasn't like a bad feeling, it was just so much all at once and it felt heavy in some way. It was like I was both happy and nervous at all times around her, going between anxious and completely mesmerized by her.

My head was completely swimming with the confusing thoughts that kept swirling around until one hit me, you might be falling for this girl. I knew it was still early and I understand that she might never fall for me, but somewhere deep inside I could feel something so foreign to me that I imagined it only could be love. It was something I hadn't had in so long that I almost forgot how it felt, how strong it is. It was confusing me the more I thought on it and I calmed myself realizing that I didn't have to know right now, I just needed to let myself feel things I had tried to block out for too long. I needed to let myself decide, not analyze everything until I thought I understood.
