Chapter 11 - Wake up

The soldiers walked for about half an hour, most of which were already tired when they reached the trenches with their legs throbbing and sore, begging for the slightest of rest.

However, they didn't waste any more time, instead, they went beneath the trenches through the tunnel into their rooms as they forced themselves to sleep.

Kazuto and Otto also reached their room as well. Just like the rest of the rooms, the walls were made out of hard thickened dirt, with a lamp placed on the side of the table.

However, what made Kazuto uncomfortable was the bunk bed made out of wood placed in the side of the room. Not a single pillow or mattress was placed above the slatted base, even cardboard looked rather comforting than this.

'Well this wasn't what I was hoping for,' Kazuto thought, displeased.

He gazes towards the bunk deck with an expression of annoyance and disgust, as he could already feel his back tingling in pain as if a small thin stick was about to crack.

"This looks painful to sleep on," Kazuto muttered, his tone pure of dismay.

"What are you talking about, this bed is enough to supply your needs against fatigue!" Otto said with a grin.

Kazuto eyes gazed towards Otto, his expression still in disgust as he seemed fed up with Otto's infectious smile.

"Is there any alternatives to where I could sleep?" Kazuto asked.

Otto's smile turned bitter after hearing the request as he gazed towards Kazuto with an expression of annoyance, as if a blooming flower instantly rot.

"You sound picky. Well, there's always the floor—"

"You know what, I'll take the be," Kazuto replied as soon as Kazuto heard the alternative.

Kazuto then gazed away, saddened as he could hear the bed call his name like echoes haunting his every step.

Otto smiled after hearing Kazuto's response as he gaze to the ladders in front of him. He then climbed up and lay down to the firm wood as he closed his eyes feeling relaxed.

"How did you get used to this. This looked hard and stiff?" Kazuto asked, as he slowly laid his back to the wood.

With just a simple lay he could already feel his back was about to break. With the wood bumping his spine he could feel an aching sensation like it wanted to sever him in half.

"Well... when your sleeping on a hard surface for long enough you'll probably get used to it." Otto said, grinning as he gaze above the ceiling wall "I'm sure you'll get used to it as well."

Kazuto remained quiet, gazing to the dirt wall next to him. The room was left in silence as the two could only hear yell after yell above ground as commands were being relayed left and right.

Kazuto then opened his mouth as the lamp that brought light finally faded away, turning the dim lit room into darkness.

"I doubt that."

He closed his eyes, as his mind slowly started to feel heavy and his vision slowly becoming more obscure. His consciousness lost in the deep void of fatigue, floating as if he was a baby not born yet in this world. Until he heard something.

A soothing sound of a harp, a familiar tone, like he was in heavens that he had heard of this ambiance once, no, twice.

Kazuto opened his eyes, as the wooden hard bed that he had been sleeping on turned into a soft white cloud, with the atmosphere nothing but all white, with the clouds levitating all around him.

His grey uniform vanished as well, nowhere to be seen. With his clothes, only a simple grey garment meant for sleeping.

'I'm back here... again?' Kazuto questioned himself.

Kazuto slowly tried to sit down from the soft bed. However, he couldn't move his body no matter how much he attempted. It felt his arms and legs were caged, locked into unseen chains, restricting him from any movement to escape.

'No, no, no, no, no, no!!! This can't be happening to me, not again!" Kazuto thought to himself anxiously, with his eyes widened.

It was happening to him again. He doesn't have full control of his body but only his consciousness. He still struggles to move at least a single limp away from him, as he wished to move it only for a few inches.

He tried again, and again, and again, and trice he failed miserably.

He sighed knowing it was already hopeless, as he just laid down in bed, gazing to the clouds in front of him; moving slower than a turtle, and faster than a snail.

Nothing do to, he decided to close his eyes and try to sleep. However, he suddenly could feel a soft, smooth, and small sensation pushing behind him, as if it was a hand of a mere child hugging him.

The child started to move up from his body, as each movement he could feel the child's soft, smooth skin rubbing beside him as if it was nothing. With the weight being about the same as a twelve-year-old.

'Wha-what is this!? What is going on!?' Kazuto thought to himself, with his eyes darting in fear.

Still not able to move, he tried to take a glimpse towards the girl, as he could see a girl's small hands touching his chest, as she seemed to be wearing a white nightgown.

"Perhaps... you are confused?" A cute gentle feminine voice can be heard beside him, as if, it was trying to seduce him.

However, Kazuto maintained his vigilance and didn't let his lust control him. Besides, not once did Kazuto felt like lusting a girl around the age of a middle schooler.

"Why are you doing this, do you want me to molest you!?" Kazuto yelled threateningly.

For the first time, Kazuto has spoken in this mysterious place, as he tried to act more superior against the girl. However, that isn't the case.

He still couldn't move his body, and without his strength of being a teenager, he couldn't do anything other than to lay down in the soft bed like a worthless pillow.

The only thing he could do is to rely on his aggressive tone, in hopes that the girl would feel somewhat threatened and leave him alone.

"Molest? Me? I am simply doing this to calm down your strayed fighting spirit down," the girl replied idly, as his hands gripped to his chest.

"Calm me down, not in the slightest your trying to make me feel calm!" Kazuto yelled.

She then moved closer towards his face, as Kazuto could feel the girl's soft and warm breath touching his ear.

"Wha-what are you doing!?" Kazuto yelled anxiously.

"Just relax," the girl responded idly.

The girl slightly opened his mouth, as she slowly bit Kazuto's left ear, as if she was longing for such a taste.

Kazuto could feel the soft lips rubbing to his ear as if a pebble of a tulip just touched him. His eyes trembled, shocked and confused, hurriedly tried to get a glimpse of the girl but he couldn't, she was out of view.

"Have you calmed down now?" the girl asked idly, waiting for Kazuto to answer.

Kazuto didn't respond, as he still struggles to move at least a limp. However, he realized soon after that it was already inevitable.

No matter how much he tried it was still pointless. He already failed trice, so why keep trying.

Kazuto sighed in disappointment, with his struggles still not rewarded with freedom. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and released it all at once, as the only option he has left is to accept defeat.

"What do you want from me!?" Kazuto asked calmly, as he waited for her response.

The girl grinned a little and moved closer to him, with her small chest pushing towards Kazuto's back, as she tried to reach Kazuto's ear once more.

"Someone is waiting for you in the city of Mettis," the girl whispered.

'The city of Mettis, where would that be?' Kazuto questioned himself, pondering as he gazed to same all clouds moving slowly.

After receiving the girl's whisper, Kazuto could feel the girl moving away, leaving him alone as he once wished, as if their interaction never happened.

All of sudden his vision started to become hazy and his eyelids feeling heavy. The soothing harp he loved slowly faded away and the white calm surroundings turned dim.

His consciousness was shut off from this peculiar world, and it stays that way.

Kazuto was stuck in the endless void of darkness. Until he could feel a sudden pain in his right cheek like it was slapped a couple of times simultaneously.

"wake up Walter... Hey... wake up," a familiar voice said to him.

Kazuto's eyebrows clenched, as his expression firmed. the pain in his right cheek continued even more, as the pain was starting to feel unbearable. Tired of the pain, he opened his eyes and saw the room where he slept in.

The hardened dirt and the dimmed lamp glowing in the side of the room placed on the table were all familiar.

He was back from this world, with his head feeling all fuzzy and his back aching in pain from the hard bed, as he just expected.

"Oh, you're awake. I thought I would need actually punch you in the face," Hanz chuckled, as he gazed towards Kazuto.
