Chapter 2 - 2: Days on End

My dreams shift to a dark clearing. That quickly get illuminated by the glowing dandelions and illuminisiate mushrooms.

"Amoura why are you not here?" his voice echos the clearing, he must have come early.

"Amoura?" He steps into the moonlight and I can't help but to get caught up in his presence. Being a territory apart is already hard, not seeing him for years on end will haunt me.

He strolls to the middle of the clearing. How do I tell him I've left?

"Why aren't you here?" He questions as he paces the clearing.

He's tall, with broad wide shoulders, a wide torso, and thick legs. I can feel his body heat and sense his rising anxiety.

"Amoura."

Heminsworth. Will our child take after you? The dark thick hair with thick eyebrows, and long lashes, will he inherent his square jaw and large round eyes; dark as our Onxy moon.

I smile will he have - "Amoura why do you ignore me?! I can feel you there!" I refocus and wonder if I can fully astro project.

"Amoura what's wrong?" he reaches out and pulls me from the nothingness. My body materializes from his grasp and pulls me into a hug. I rest my head against his chest.

How enraged will my plan make him?

"You lied to me Amoura," remorse fills my chest. He doesn't know the half of it.

"I had to go Heminsworth," His heart was pounding under my ear. He's never been furious with me before.

"You could have told me I would-" I cut him off.

"You would have what? Left your mother fending for herself? Give up searching for your brothers? Renounced your rightful claim to the pack and let your father continue ruining the Blackhart name?" I speak calmly.

"Things aren't right enough to afford both our absence," I look up and meet his gaze.

"You're what matters to me Amoura," he responds as he pulls me back into an embrace.

"Then fix the issues at home, and I'll deal with the Council," I respond.

"How long?" He questions.

"Eight years," he growls and retorts with three.

I chuckle and tell him I'll need at least six to properly.

"Fine. But no more or to hell with everything I'll find you myself," he responds and I agree.

"I must go Heminsworth," I force myself free and return to my body. I awaken as the carriage door opens.

Lisa helps me out the carriage and we join my grandfather at the entrance of a cave. I'm surprised he left his study.

"How you feeling child?" He puts a cloak on me and ushers my cousins to retrieve my things.

"This will help with the burden the pregnancy is putting on you," I thank him and slip my arms into it. It was soft and very warm.

"Come inside. Have you eaten? Maajuri made stews," as we make our way to the third floor where the common area is. Grandfather tells me about the animals they managed to transport to the territory once they began reviving the land.

"We placed the Magic Crystals you sent in Central points of the land. The magic system has been flourishing," I smile in appreciation.

"So why did you make home the inside of a cave?" I observe the walls and watch the magic veins run thru the rock.

"This providence mined metals back in the day. The metals were very useful for Metal Magical tools. Some of the best furnaces came from these tunnels. Digging our homes into the land is more productive than building it above ground. The metal is compatible with and reverberates the magic within its surroundings. Helping us cultivate more magic, when refined it releases magic it aborbed. We will be planting wild mushrooms, dandelions, and Baby Toes to help absorb the residual magic." He responds as we arrive to the bottom.

We walk into the left side of the living room. A water fall from a hole in the ceiling. To the left of the water fall is a sitting around while to my right is the dining room. The kitchen was to my left behind the water fall. The cave wall furthest to us was gone, leaving us exposed to the cliff side. I can see the land covered in a soft grass.

"With enough magic cultivation of the land we hope to have a healthy mountain civilization," Ali the eldest of Maajuris sons, Darrius speaks up as he comes up behind me, I smile pleased as we hug.

Maajuri hugs me next, "how are you child? You feeling okay? The first trimester is the harshest, your hormones are fluctuating so much as the pregnancy begins to stabilize."

I nod and tell her about my nausea,

"chewing hard things has triggered vomiting the last few weeks."

She pets my back as I settle into her hug, she was always warm and smelled of sugar and cynamun.

"Do you have cyinamun rolls?" I ask as she releases me.

"I do. Go sit I'll get you a roll and a bowl of patoto and beef soup. It's so soft you won't need to chew," she makes her way into the kitchen as I ask if she made some ryce as well."

I make my way to the dining room table as my cousins walk in, "its good to see made it Amoura. The travel thru the Baren Land is rough on the carriages."

I agree and tell them I'm glad we made it in one piece. They join me at the table as I turn my attention to the opening in front of us, the cave

We were right off the cliffside. I approach the edge and stare out the barren wasteland beyond the mountain sides.

My aunts and uncles join us at the the table, "you'll be safe here Amoura."

"Its not me I'm worried about," I respond as the smell of food makes me hungry.

"We'll help you both. If you believe this is what's best then this is what we'll do."

We discuss the lands changes and the projects for further improvement as Maajuri beings a trolly of food over.

"We brought a full seed stock of all the plants that could grow in this terrain," Lisa adds she's always wanted to farm.

Over dinner we discuss my plans for the future.
