Chapter 3 - 3: Baby Steps

I wake up early the next morning and head to the restoration site on mount Cami, it had the best views.

A magic circle made of Magic and grounded salt from refined magic stones sat above a cliff top that over looked the canyons.

The five crystal pillars inside the circle had fire lit lanterns hanging off them with a burning elemental stone at the enter that fuels the pillars.

I move to the center and make myself comfortable, it didn't last long, so I lay down and curl the ground around me. I send the magic building inside me into the circle and let it course thru the land system.

In just a short amount of time the land has prospered in. My child's magic is truly amazing, it's Creation magic at its finest.

The barren canyons are covered in forestry and wild grass. The dead trees are full of leaves and fruits ready to be plucked.

The amount of magic he has is unmeasurable for the fact that he can just create more. What am I going to do with his magic? Will he stop making it when he doesn't need any? Will he just pour magic out of him without trying? Will his magic decrease after I give birth? Will he still have an Awakening? Will he be born with with access to his magic. How do you teach control to someone has impossibility at their fingertips? I wish I had my mother she'd know what to do.

What if his magic doubles at birth? Can I control his magic? Will i be able to handle my own magic and his, and stay in control? What is going to happen when that day arrives? How much magic will be created the day I go into labor?

I'm already ten months along and his magic already exceeds my own, this land hasn't been this fruitful since The Golden Age. And this land has returned to those days. How much more magic can it take? I will have to make this land a protected land. I don't know how his magic will react to others. How he's react to Bixi. He will blossom here no matter what happens to Bixi or to me.

I must protect him, his magic is unparallel, he can overtake Bixi one day im certain of it. I wish I could ask my mother how she dealt with all these questions.

The weapon she had replicated comes to mine, he'll need a weapon that harnesses his magic as the source so he can learn control.

I sit up and look at the mountain side below, the dying red sun gave a soft orange and pink tone to the skyline. "I'm all Bixi needs to be reborn. My child has the potential to give Bixi the life she once had."

But what kind of life will he have if he does that? What's the point in separating him from Bixi if she can still take him.

The amount of Magic he has would be just what she needs, the question is would she use it to restore the land? She wouldn't save the people. She wants to restart Bixi in her imagine, she wants to rule again.

My child may have the magic but does he have the capacity to use it. I don't need to hold magic to control it, my gift allows me control no matter what. My child will need to learn control.

"I'm glad you're awake, you should eat," my grandmom pulls me from my thoughts, bringing three floating trays down to me.

One hand fruits, another hand soups and the third had meat and breads. "Oh these look great, I'll eat them now.

"You should start using the ritual site outside the house instead of the one up the mountain, you're close to your due date Amoura we can't afford you hurting yourself, pregnancy is a serious thing, my child."

She sits beside me and watches the second sun beak up front the the caynon top.

"It's a beatiful view," I say as I look at the mountain tops below.

"You're son is magnificent Amoura. I'm glad you decided to prepare this place for him."

"The old records once said the Wastelands was the wild terrain of Magic. From jungles to mountains the Wasteland had everything. And this is the furthest reach from Bixis magic. I want his magic to be untainted I want his magic to be untouched by Bixi."

"He will be safe here, you can relax and focus more on enjoying your pregnancy. It's almost over afterall. Let me spoil you some more."

I thank her as we watch the sun while we discuss harvest plans and finish the food.

"It's going to be alright Amoura," I nod and we head back down the mountain.

We reach the house entrance when Grandpa walks out. He was beaming ear to ear.

He rushes over with a pink mango, "try these! Margo went to check the Lunar orchards and it turns out they tapped into a gyser vein. They flooded a whole floor but the plants that got the water not only produce three times their usual count, thet are so much sweeeter! We are going to go down and make a new waterway to get all the mango trees there fair share of hot water." He leaves us three more mangos and runs off.

"Fruit salads for dessert it is," Grandma jokes as she peels one for us.

Our faces light up in delight at the sweet taste, soft like cream a bit cold and chunky. We finished the mango and I asked her for mango flavored ice cream.

"We need more mangos. Go get the stuff ready for the ice cream. I'll go get more mangos." I agree and we part ways.

In the last few months the agriculture has blossomed with the Magic I've been adding to the land. Everyone has been mining underground to make new magic systems connect properly across the land. Saves me from having to create the system paths while adding the magic back. The rock has become a vibrant conductor of magic and keeps the home very insulanted. We have a natural hot spring in the basement now.

We found an underground water source from the gysers on the mountain tops near our home so had to made sure the future gysers didn't pop up inside the house in the future so we built the outdoor hotspring over it and redirected the water there.

The hot water gave birth to many wheat plants in the meadows below. Grandmother has so many receipts. Apparently the wild flowers that are growing are good for pegiments, she is teaching me how to turn the plants to pigment dyes and how to make wax.

We started terrace farming on the mountain sides below and harvest has been fruitful. One side is a fruit orchard and the other is the vegetable fields.

We began expanding the tunnels as well and began three lunar gardens as well. We managed to make great waterways around the tunnels.

We hope to build a few turbines around the near by mountain lakes to help with irrigation and water flow management. Rain fall has been common here.

I head to the kitchen and grab all we need to make the mangos into a paste. My aunt Marsui joins me then, "have you tried being nice to the mangos?" She looks at the squished mangos.

"No they must be sacrificed to the ice gods to become frozen creme," I respond seriously before breaking to a smile.

"I want icecream, want some? Gran' ma is getting more mango," Her face lights up at my words.

"More victims?! I shall help. Should we add some strawberries and pineapple to the list?"

"Yes we should," I laugh at her words.

"Oh a mango wine would be good though. Mango and those wild cherries would be good together. Maybe add some cocunt for extra sweetness," she breaks into a smile.

"I'm gonna do just that next time," we get to work making a milk base cream when grandma returns with a crate full of mangos.

"I think the men are gonna be living at the cavern orchards for a few weeks," she looks at the fruit spread across the kitchen island.

"Someone got carried away," gran picks up some cherries and pips them into her mouth.

"We got a few flavor ideas," Marsui and I smile sheepishly.

"Give me the coconut," we hand it to her and begin prepping.

I wonder how else this land can prosper? I wonder if I can tap into this land like I Bixi. I would like to see this land prosper after all it will by my child's domain. Maybe here they can co-exist.

We send icecream to the group sleeping near the orchards. We sit by the water fall eating the icecream.

Later that night I head to the magic circle and ponder if Bixi would truly allow someone like my son to thrive. Afterall it was the nightmares of him being absorbed by Bixi drove me from home.
