Chapter 3 - 003: Taste Of Blood

"I'm a weak piece of shit who can't hunt for himself."

Miffie immediately grabbed Vulcan by the wrist and turned turns him. This made Vulcan wince.

"How dare you... "He began, "Call yourself that."

Vulcan was going to reply, but he stopped himself when the clicking heels of a female nurse neared the door at the front of the large room.

The door opened and a female nurse stepped in with a light from the hallway coming into the room behind her. "What's going on?" She demanded, "Why am I hearing voices?" She looked over at Miffie and Vulcan. "Get back to bed! You are not allowed to be up at this hour."

Miffie turned his attention on the nurse, "He needs blood."

"Mi..." Vulcan hesitated, "No..."

"He can get a drink in the morning. Go back to bed." The nurse hissed.

"No, miss." Miffie tried convincing the woman. "He needs some now! He might not make it in the morning."

The woman narrowed her eyes before scanning Vulcan. Vulcan nervously looked at her. He wanted to look away, but his neck wouldn't move.

The woman closed her eyes, tilting her head to the floor. She sighed, "All right. I'll find something." She walked into the room and went towards Vulcan's bed. The woman eyed Vulcan, "What kind of blood do you prefer? Human, dog or snake?"

"I can't drink snake blood..." Vulcan replied lowly, "It's poisonous."

The nurse rubbed the back of her neck, feeling embarrassed from the stupid question she asked him. "Right... how stupid can I be... Maybe I can get you human blood. What type are you? Would you like it warm? Of course you can't drink dead blood..."

Vulcan honestly had no idea what his blood type was. He shrugged.

The nurse nodded and headed for the door. "I'll see what I can find.."

As the door closed, Miffie looked down at Vulcan before letting go of his wrist. He sat back down on the bed beside him. "You need to take better care of yourself. I'm saving your life here."

Vulcan nodded without having the strength to say anything.

"There may be worse deaths than what was coming to you..." He turned his head in my direction, "Who blooded you?"

"A Pureblood." Vulcan said dryly. "Sometimes I have nightmares... About him coming back for me... killing anyone, everyone who tried to keep me from him..."

"Did he say he was going to come back for you?" He asked.

Vulcan nodded.

"How did you get away from him?"

"I think I escaped..."

"You think?"

Vulcan shrugged, "I can't remember a lot of things."

"Probably for the best."

Vulcan didn't think it was the best for him. He shook his head. "Not for me."

Miffie looked over at his brother. Vulcan looked too. Miffie was trying to see if his brother was awake or asleep. He stared at him for a moment, before looking back at me, "I swear I just saw him move at the corner of my eye."

Vulcan silently looked at Miffie.

The nurse came back with a foam cup filled with human blood. "What the fuck" was written all over Miffie's face. Miffie stared at the foam cup, wondering why the hell Vulcan was being given a foam cup to drink from.

Miffie watched the nurse leave the room before Miffie snatched the cup out of Vulcan's hands. Vulcan softly squeaked.

"Miffie, no! Give that back to me!"

Miffie looked at me then looked down at the thick dark red liquid. "I know damn good and well your not going to drink this willingly."

Vulcan couldn't deny that. He knew Miffie was right. Vulcan wasn't going to drink the dark red liquid willingly. Vulcan was probably just going to put it underneath his bed and leave it there without ever drinking it.

Miffie shook his head, closing his eyes. He looked back at Vulcan, "Open your mouth."

"Wait-- What? Hell no." Vulcan raised his hands in front of him, nervously. He gave him an incredulous look.

Miffie gave Vulcan a serious look, "I'm just trying to make you drink this."

Vulcan silently continued to stare at him. Vulcan knew if he didn't drink the blood right now, he may die in the morning. He knew he couldn't not. Not while he was in a place like this. He ha a home he desperately needed to return to. He didn't want to die here for nothing. Vulcan disliked blood very mouth, but he didn't want to die.

He made his decision and lowered his arms. "Give me it and I'll drink it in front of you..."

"Only if you do drink it. Or I might force it down your throat."

Vulcan silently looked at him with a mixture of sadness and fear.

"Right..." He said, handing the foam cup to him, "sorry."

Vulcan took the cup and stared at the red liquid. It was still warm, thankfully. That was indeed a good thing. A sad look appeared on Vulcan's face as he stared down at it. "I hate doing this." Tears formed in his eyes.

Miffie nodded sympathetically. "I know."

Vulcan pulled his head back, downing the blood. Slowly, his color returned. He looked at Miffie, eyes now black with red slits and sharp fangs peeking from behind his upper lip. This change usually happened to all vampires, especially when one was taking blood from another.

"But you get used to it."

"Are you really a girl?" Miffie suddenly asked.

Vulcan shook his head, "No, they got my gender wrong."

"How can that happen.."

"I have an Adam's Apple." Vulcan said, but wasn't exactly sure what that lump on against the inside of his skin was.

"I can see that." He said, "But how can you have breasts and a vagina at the same time?"

It sort of made Vulcan uncomfortable when pointed those two things out. He didn't like admitting it, but he knew he couldn't hide from himself. "I don't know... I was born like that..."

"Well, either way, I like you. I think I'm going to keep you around."

Vulcan didn't know what to say.

"You've been through too much, as far as what you've told me. I'll be your friend."

"Seems like your my first..."

"I don't care." He said, sounding like he snapped at me a little, but really not trying to. "One is better than none."

Vulcan was on edge in the morning. He felt pissed off, that's usually what blood did to him after he drank it. He had quickly fallen asleep a few minutes after downing the red liquid. He sat up in bed, his eyes squinted. Miffie could tell he wasn't feeling happy.

"Come on, we have to go out." He said.

Vulcan shook his head, "No. I don't feel like it."

He gave him a concerned look, "Do you want to get restrained?"

"I don't care." Vulcan answered dryly.

"My brother didn't care and he got his ass handed to the male nurses." He explained, "They are stronger than they may look. They will tear you apart if you give them a reason to."

"And what did you do?" Vulcan became a little curious.

"I tried fighting them with my brother, but I immediately stopped. I knew if I continued, I was going to get my arm ripped off."

"And what happened your brother?"

"He was put on isolation." He said.

"And his limbs?"

"He still has his."

Vulcan didn't say anything after that. He sat there, not wanting to get up from his bed.

Miffie shook his head before stepping between Vulcan's bed and the other male's bed on Vulcan's left. Miffie reached over and grabbed Vulcan by his right arm. Miffie and Vulcan's eyes locked and both gave each other a threatening look. "Get the fuck up." Miffie warned, "I don't want you to end up like my brother."

"Let the fuck go of my arm." Vulcan tried yanking away, but Miffie kept his grip on him. He slightly moved.

"They will beat the shit out of you. Those male nurses will give you a shot. It's isolation on the fucking unit."

"Mhm," Vulcan said, not caring.

"Get up." He warned again, "Now."

Vulcan turned his head and looked down at Miffie's hand that wouldn't let go of his arm. Vulcan sat there silently, staring down at it.

Miffie kept his eyes locked on Vulcan.

Vulcan slowly looked up at Miffie. Vulcan didn't have that soft mean look on his face. This time it was a sad look. He looked into Miffie's eyes, silently.

"Is that the way that Pureblood Vampire acted when he got angry?"

"No. It's me." Vulcan replied, "He was way more violent that I think I could ever get. He attacks and doesn't talk it out."

Having his answer, he closed his eyes before letting go of Vulcan's arm and pulling away. "Come one," He said, looking at Vulcan, "Let's go."

"Right..." Vulcan said.

Miffie turned and started heading to the door. As Vulcan got up from his bed, he looked over at Miffie's brother. His brother was still sleeping and he still had his blanket over his head.

Vulcan turned and walked around the bed. He headed over to Miffie.

-

The middle of the day came. The nurses had set up tables that went all the way down the hallway. For the adolescents who still had yet to get their own room. The nurses were serving their lunch on the unit instead of the unit's cafeteria. Wherever that was.

Vulcan and Miffie said down to next to each other at one of the tables at the far end of the hallway. It took some walking to get down there. Vulcan didn't feel like eating anything. Miffie didn't either. The nurses weren't forcing the teens the eat, but they had suggested it would of been best.

Vulcan tried to force himself to eat his lunch, but after he picked up a piece of mash potatoes and took a whiff, he get it back inside of his foam tray. It wasn't that the food itself smelled bad, it was just that it smelled off.

Vulcan looked at Miffie. Vulcan could tell Miffie had noticed the weird smell coming from the food.

"I think they are trying to drug these kids." Said Miffie. Miffie had his arms cross and he sat back in his chair. He seemed to have his arms crossed all the time.

Vulcan looked around at the other teens who were visible to his eye. They were eating the food, but it seemed they did not noticed the weird smell of drugs.

What the hell was this place doing to those who were different from humans?

"It even smells like they mixed drugs into the meatloaf." Vulcan said.

Miffie covered his mouth with his right hand, trying not keep himself from laughing. The way Vulcan had said that, he found it funny. Vulcan had distorted his voice.

Miffie's brother was finally awake. Astruxen stood at the bed's room, watching his little brother. Miffie knew he was being watched. Miffie glanced over his should at him before looking back at Vulcan. Astruxen watched. Miffie and his new friend laughing about something.

"That's a knee slapper." Astruxen heard Vulcan say to Miffie. Astruxen stood there silently. He hadn't eaten anything either. He didn't want to because even he could smell what was in today's lunch.

"The hell even is this?" Miffie wondered out loud.

"Human food." Vulcan answered, "To tame the Vampire's hunger."

"I'm not a Vampire," He said, "I am a demon and part Vinx."

"Would you like some bones with that?" Vulcan snorted.

"I thought you didn't know what a Vinx was."

"I don't." Vulcan responded dryly.

Astruxen didn't move from the doorway. The female nurses and male nurses didn't pay attention to him. They weren't worried about him and he wasn't their problem. Unless he attacked someone or one of the nurses, they weren't going to keep their eyes on him.

"Your laugh is annoying." Said the male sitting across Vulcan.

Vulcan and Miffie turned their attention on the male.

"What?" Miffie asked him."

"I wasn't talking to you." He said, "I was talking to that long haired faggot next to you." The male pointed Vulcan out with his potato covered fork. "I'm tryna enjoy my damn meal."

Miffie glared at the male. "Just because he had long hair, does not mean he's a faggot."

"Whatever you believe, man." The male looked back over at me, "Your even ugly. You look like a noob." A playful light seemed to dance in his eyes. It seemed he enjoyed insulting those he thought were week.

"You better stop talking right now." Miffie threatened.

"Tch! I'm not scared of two scrawny little shits like you and that faggot. If he's a guy, then why the hell is he wearing a dress? Is that tits I see or are you a girl? Or did you just stuffed that bra of yours just to make it look like you got some. Where did you even get that bra anyways?"

Vulcan wasn't wearing a bra, anyhow. He had his chest wrapped, but his chest was a little more noticeable. Vulcan didn't say anything to the male.

Miffie looked at Vulcan, ready to attack the male. He was going to take that chance for Vulcan.

Vulcan stared at the male in front of him, memorizing every inch of his appearance. Vulcan's expression had changed. His eyes were squinted now, as if he were targeting somebody. The male has short brown hair, brown eyes, skin was the color of creamed coffee. He was skinny but he looked bigger than Miffie and Vulcan.

As soon as Vulcan finished memorizing, he leaped out of his seat and launched him over the table. Landing right on the brown eyed male, causing him to fall back out of his chair, Vulcan wrapped his arms around his waist. The brown eyed male's ass hit the floor, Vulcan hearing a few cracks.

Some of the people around us quickly got out of their seats to get out the way. Afraid they were going to get caught up in it.

In no time, the male nurses nearby noticed the commotion at the far end of the hall. They began rushed to the area, pushing pass teens.

"Enjoy your last moments..." Vulcan said to the brown eyes male, his eyes changing from bright baby blue to black with red slits, "They're my gift to give."

As the nurses hurried over to them to restrain Vulcan, the brown eyed male tried to push him off. Since the male had the neck brace around his neck, there was no stopping Vulcan from what he was about to do to him.

Miffie immediately got up from his chair and backed away so Vulcan could do his business. His eyes turned to his brother, Astruxen. Their eyes locked for 1 or 2 seconds before Astruxen squinted his eyes opened them normally. Directing this at his little brother. It seemed he was telling him something.

Miffie turned his attention on Vulcan, Vulcan starting to smash both fists against the brown eyed male's jaw.

The male squirmed under Vulcan, freaking out, trying to fight Vulcan back. He let out a scream when three cracks came from his jaw.

Noticing the nurses getting closer, Vulcan turned his attention on Miffie.

"Sen! You know what they'll do!" Miffie quickly reminded him.

Understanding this, Vulcan pulled through and tossed himself backward off the brown eyed male, landing on both feet. He grabbed the male's ankles and lifted him into the air. Having no emotion and having every last bit of innocence leaving his body, he forcefully threw the male at the three male nurses who were about to take out their electric blackjacks.

The teenagers around Vulcan, even Miffie moved further back. They sure as hell didn't want to get hurt by someone who doesn't have a brace around their neck.

Other male nurses reached the end of the hall, take their electric blackjacks from their hip belts.

Miffie went over to Vulcan and grabbed him by both arms and pulled him back towards him. The nurses, now slowly walking towards them, ready to swing at Vulcan.

Somehow at the moment Miffie grabbed Vulcan, Vulcan turned back to normal. His eyes reverted back to bright baby blue.

The nurses gave Vulcan a threatening look, turning off their blackjacks when they heard the doors at the other end of the hallway swing open. Four doctors came running into the wad, gently moving patients out of they way.

"Which one did it?" Asked the doctor with reddish hair. He was the one who Vulcan had met a few days ago before he was escorted to the ward.

The nurses stepped out of the way as if the doctors were royalty.

Vulcan stood in front of Miffie, staring up at the tall red haired doctor. Vulcan didn't didn't know what to say and didn't know what to do. He began feeling scared. He wondered how they knew Vulcan had lashed out. Maybe because they felt it or seen it on camera? If there were any camera on the unit. Vulcan knew he was in trouble.
