INT: INN – DAY.
Olivia's POV.
I woke up still feeling so weak and dizzy; but much to my surprise I wasn't in the woods sleeping on the bare grassy floor anymore, I wasn't in Ethan's arms either.
A blush crept into my face with the thought of being so close to Ethan in his arms which felt so good.
Where was he anyway, I thought.
I was in a room which seemed so primitive from the thatch roofing and the candle light which illuminated the room.
"Ethan!" I called out.
"The young man Ethan isn't here." A croaked voice from behind said.
I turned to meet an old woman who should be in her late sixties She seem to be mixing some medicinal herbs.
"Where is he? Who are you? And how did I got here." I asked confuse.
"You passed out and Ethan brought you here." She responded.
Passed out, when and how. I thought.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am Irene. I promise to treat you till you get well if Ethan would let you heal my daughter." She said.
I scoffed. "Heal your daughter? That's impossible, I don't know how to heal anyone." I chuckled.
She grinned. "You really don't know up to a quarter of your potentials." She said.
I frowned; what was she trying to say?
"Vampires, Cats, And Werewolves have the ability to heal themselves. But Xphynx can extend that healing ability to someone else most likely humans like us." She explained.
I sighed, she knew I was something different.
"How is that possible?" I asked curiously.
She raised her brow. "You mean you don't know about your healing touch?" She asked.
I nodded.
She sighed. "When someone is sick, the touch of a Xphynx could heal the person or fasten his recovery." She explained.
"Hmm." I hummed. "I have no idea." I said.
Irene's POV.
What kind of Xphynx cat is she? For most Xphynx their healing touch was the first of their abilities they had noticed.
"O...k" she stuttered.
"What is it about?" I asked curiously.
She ignored instead she brought a flowering pot with a dead withering plant in it. "Touch this." She said.
I hesitated, what was she really up to?
She frowned. "It won't bite." She said.
I reluctantly touched the dead plant one eye closed and peeping from the other. What happened next seem like a dream; I have never seen anything like it.
The dead withering plant came back to life and sprout out fresh green leaves and beautiful flowers.
"Wow!" I exclaimed. "How is that possible?" I asked.
Irene smiled. "One of nature's handiwork. Your kind is a gift to the world." She said still smiling.
I frowned, I hated being referred to as a mere gift.
"So you mean any dead plant I touch would just come back to life." I asked.
She glares at me. "Perhaps." She said.
My mind drifted to my grandfather. Could I possibly bring someone back from the dead?
"What about people?" I asked.
Her frown deepened. "Don't be carried away young Xphynx. You don't have the power to bring back someone from the dead, even if you do their soul couldn't be in their body."
I sighed disappointed; there would be no use bringing someone back to life if he would be just an empty vessel without a soul.
"I'm Olivia." I said; I hated being referred to as Xphynx, that wasn't my name.
"It's nice meeting you Olivia." Irene said.
"Where is your daughter?" I asked excitedly, I couldn't wait to perform some human test.
"You aren't strong to heal anyone yet." She snapped.
I frowned.
"Take this." She hands over to me the drug she had been mixing.
I took it. "Should I— drink it?" I asked childishly.
She scowled at me. "No, you should sniff it." She said.
With the way she sounded, I knew I was supposed to drink it. I smelled it.
"Eew, it smells like garlic." I exclaimed.
"It taste better than it smells." She assured.
I gulped it down. It tasted sour.
She laughed hysterically. "You would be better after few more dose of it." She said.
What, I thought. There would be more?.
I sighed. "Where is Ethan?" I asked.
She grinned. "He's such a fine man. Isn't he?" She said.
I frowned, that wasn't what I expected from her. And that doesn't answer my question.
Her grin widened on noticing my frown and discomfort. "He went out to get some herbs." She said.
"O...k" I stuttered.
"You know you two are lucky to have each other." She said after a moment of awkward silence.
"I can't really say." I responded.
"He's an alpha and you a Xphynx. It's really weird." Irene said.
I wasn't sure what she was trying to say, but I didn't think I like talking about it either.
"Only that; you are tormenting him." Irene explained.
"Uhm" I hummed.
"Ethan is a man." She snapped.
"I know he is a man." I said confuse.
"He is also a werewolf. You are a woman and not just any woman a Xphynx." She explained.
I thought for a while, I couldn't get what she was trying to say.
"What— what are you trying to say?" I stuttered.
She smirked. "You will understand when the time comes, she said."
I sighed frustratedly.
The door opened and Ethan walked in.
"Ethan!" I sighed feeling relieve.
He strolled to meet me a smile on his face. "Hey, you are awake."
"How long was I out?" I asked curiously.
"Roughly three days." He said.
I sighed; three days I thought.
He gaze at me dreamingly. "I told you, 'you would fall sick for starving yourself'." He said.
"I'm sorry." I apologized feeling really sorry.
He raised his brow, followed by a grin. "I don't want you feeling sorry Olivia. I want you to feel lucky and happy." He said caressing my cheek.
I felt my cheeks burn from the blush that crept into them.
Irene clears her throat distractively. "She needs more time to recover." She said. "I think I should leave you two." She added.
Better off. I thought.
"How long is that." I asked curiously.
"Three days." Ethan said.
"Three days?!" I exclaimed; was I going to play all sick for three days.
"Three days before we can continue our journey. Besides it aren't that long, we are five days away from the shore and the ship would only be ready to leave in a week." He said.
I scoffed. "Do you know about my healing touch?" I asked.
He stared at me indifferently.
I frowned. "What else are you not telling me?"
"Umm..That Irene is a witch and her kind uses magic?" He said.
I gasped. "Irene has magic." I muttered.
"Why don't she heal her daughter with her magic?" I asked.
Ethan sighed. "Witches can't interfer with nature." He explained.
I gasps. Of course it was my nature to be able to extend my healing abilities to heal someone else, but magic didn't seem so natural.
"You need to rest now." Ethan said.
"I'm fine but I'm really hungry." I said.
Ethan chuckled. "You should be, you haven't eaten for days. Remember?" He said.
My mind was still drifted away by the fact that Irene was a soucerer and I had the ability to heal her daughter.
I couldn't wait, I needed to try my healing abilities on a human.
