Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 (Edited)

With my words, Marilyn went back to the room and packed some medicine. Jenin lied that Dahlia palace was so poor there were no things such as medicine but it was different from what he said.

She lifted me into her arms and entered Dietrich's room.

Thinking that an enemy had come to attack again, he sat by the window where he could run away anytime.

"Brother!"

".....how meddlesome."

Dietrich frowned when he saw Marilyn who stood behind me who was running to him. He clicked his tongue and flicked my forehead with his finger.

"Why did you bring that maid?"

"Malilyn is bringing the medicine."

"Marilyn."

"Uh, uhn, Malilyn."

Marilyn, why was Marilyn's name this hard to pronounce?

When I turned around, Marilyn hurried up and put the medicine chest down. However, she couldn't start the treatment as she started to become restless.

"Malilyn, pleath help brother."

"Ah, oh….will that be alright, young master?"

Marilyn asked Dietrich carefully.

'Is she still scared of Dietrich?'

Having been manipulated by Veronica, Liatris' daughter, and acted as a spy, she almost died by Dietrich once.

At Marilyn's uneven small voice, Dietrich nodded lightly. She opened the medicine chest with a sigh of relief.

"I, I will alsso help."

I took out a bandage from the box and carefully released it. It'll get dirty if it drops on the floor.

"It might sthing but you have to hang in there, brother."

With the ointment Marilyn poured over my fingertips generously, I began to apply it over Dietrich's ragged legs. He did not groan even though the wound would be very painful because it was mixed with disinfectant.

'How strong, so strong.'

"It hurts right…."

However, just because he was enduring didn't mean the wound didn't hurt. I really hate Derek.

"Hate...."

No matter how strong Dietrich was, he was still a child.

"....the person who made you like this, I really hate him."

With my mutter, he raised his head from where he was leaning against. It must be because of the pain that his face looked a bit red.

"Why?"

"Because brother got hurth."

"There's no reason for you to hate the person who hurt me."

"No, I hate him! Hate himm!"

I violently shook my head against Dietrich's cold words.

'He's doing it again, again!'

When we got a little closer, he would start acting coldly.

"Because Anissa likes Detrie, I hate all people who hurths brother."

"...."

"I will learn swords and scold them all."

Of course, I wasn't confident.

Dietrich, who was just listening to what I was saying, chuckled. It wasn't bad to hear the light laughter as if carried by the wind.

"Okay."

My eyes widened at his answer. He'd never been so obedient to my words.

"That wouldn't be bad either."

I nodded as I looked at Dietrich, who seemed a little gentle, perhaps because he had little strength.

I've never met Derek, at least in Lagrange, a human whom I knew as my father.

So of course, I never thought of him as a father. For me he was a wicked adult who left his children unattended and a vile villain who bullied Dietrich.

'What is that human doing here?'

Derek suddenly came to Dahlia without notice. As I was walking down the hallway holding hands with Marilyn, I started looking for a place to hide from the dark red aura that I felt from a distance.

'There's no place to hide!'

"Your Grace."

Fortunately, Marilyn, who was quick to notice, covered me with her skirt. When Marilyn bowed politely, Derek turned to us.

"Where's Dietrich?"

Derek, who ignored Marilyn's greetings, asked suddenly.

'Why are you looking for him now?'

Derek wouldn't have a good reason to look for Dietrich. I squinted my eyes and observed Derek's aura.

The aura, disgusting enough to look into, was blackish like coagulated blood.

"He is in his room."

"Is that so?"

'Ah, he's dangerous.'

I was frightened by the murderous drenches in Derek's aura. It was such a corrupt aura that I couldn't see it clearly, but my sensitive observation finally found his murderous intentions in the countless negative emotions.

'So you came here to kill him!'

Because he failed last time. My danger detector, developed from assassins targeting Dietrich, glowed red and buzzed.

As soon as Derek disappeared into the corridor on the other side, I came out of Marilyn's back and looked around.

'I need to get to Dietrich faster than Derek does!'

"Ba, Baal!"

"Yes, Princess."

Baal, who disappeared to the ceiling as soon as Derek appeared, splattered to the floor like liquid.

I grabbed the part of Baal's presumed neck and shook it violently.

"Baal, take me to my brother! Ryght naw!"

"Alright."

Baal clicked his finger and the scenery changed in an instant. I flopped over Dietrich's body.

"Ugh."

"Brother!"

The not yet fully recovered Dietrich, lied on the bed. I grabbed his pale face with both of my hands.

"Runn awey!"

"What?"

"You haft to runn awey! De, no, dad ith coming!"

He had to avoid dad who was trying to kill him. Reading it in the novel didn't sound so bad but it was still a terrible situation to go through.

At my urgent words, Dietrich frowned slightly and turned his head.

"Baal."

"Yes,Your Majesty."

"Can you stop it?"

"No, at your current condition it would be impossible."

Maybe because he's a demon but Baal didn't seem scared of Derek.

I kicked the demon's shin with his blunt answer.

"Protecc him!"

"...yes?"

"Protecc brother, Baal!"

"Hmm, ah, I can use the lady as a medium."

'What? Use me for?'

At Baal's incomprehensible words, I tilted my head but Dietrich replied first.

"No."

"Then, there's nothing I can do."

"...bring in any candidate. If there's anyone watching, he wouldn't be able to kill me."

At Dietrich's command, a hole quickly opened in the air, and Yuric popped out of it.

I waved my hands as I looked at Yuric who rolled to the floor.

"Long time no sye."

"Ahk, what, what the?"

As if Yuric was having his meal, the croissant summoned along with him rolled around. I ran and picked up the bread.

"I'm going eat!"

"Hey! That's my bread!"

'The one who catches it is the one who owns it!'

The Dahlia palace was so poor that there's no way for me to hope for such a rich, buttery bread.

'So Liatris]s kids are eating this kind of expensive bread.'

I'm a little jealous of this. I laughed 'hehe' as I shook off the dust from the bread.

"I'm going eat thith."

"You know it fell to the ground."

I opened my mouth wide to eat it in one bite but Dietrich took my bread away.

'Ahk! It's okay if you pick it up in three seconds! Why won't you believe in my words!'

I panicked and stretched my arms towards it.

"Don't eat these kinds of things, are you a beggar?"

Hing…

I'm not completely a beggar, but I think I'm close to it.

He didn't return the croissant to me, even though I clung to him while crying my face off.

At that moment, the door opened wide and Derek entered the room. Baal quickly wrapped around me and stuck to the ceiling.

He's a person who could feel an aura like me but because Baal could make us disappear in an instant, he won't be able to find us just by using his naked eyes.

"Dietrich."

Derek called him with a heavy voice and came closer. He raised his eyebrows at Yuric who was on the floor.

"Aren't you Yuric."

"Father."

"What brings you to Dahlia Palace?"

"That's. Uhm….."

Yuric looked around as Derek stared at him. He wouldn't have anything to say since he was suddenly summoned by the demon.

As he stammered, Derek clicked his tongue as if he was pathetic.

"Nevermind. How frustrating."

"...I'm sorry."

Although Yuric bowed his head and apologized, Derek ignored him and approached Dietrich.

"You were hurt?"

He pretended as if he wasn't the one who hurt him. I despised Derek's blatant attitude.

"You're one of the best candidates. It would be a waste for you to lose, so you should take care of yourself, isn't that right?

'You're just spitting lies with your mouth!'

I laughed dumbfoundedly at Derek's unbelievable words. Dietrich would feel the same way I did, but he just nodded his head with an indifferent face.

"Yes. I will be careful."

"...All right. I just came by to check your body's condition."

I didn't know why but Derek seemed unable to hurt Dietrich in front of other candidates.

He still had a very strong urge to kill, but he didn't attack Dietrich.

I thought we'd be able to get over the crisis like this, but he gestured with his chin towards Yuric.

"I need to talk with Dietrich for a moment, so you can go."

I couldn't say not to go and hold on to Yuric, who didn't know of the situation, while I'm in this place. And right now, Yuric didn't get along with Dietrich.

The child nodded his head at Derek's orders and stood up getting ready to leave.

'No!'

I wiggled out of Baal's grasp and rolled down to the floor.

"Nyo!"

"...oh?"

"Dunt gow!"

To their eyes, who couldn't see Baal, it would appear as if I popped out from the window.

I ignored Dietrich's startled eyes behind and hung on the hem of Yuric's trousers.

"Play witt me!"

"Hey, no."

"No! Play witt me!!!"

I dropped down in front of Yuric like a child — though I really was a child — and begged. As I clung to his leg like a Koala, the flustered child in an awkward position, looked back and forth between Dietrich and Derek.

"Oh, please wait a moment. Hey, why are you like this?"
