The scent of the ground during a rain resonates within my head. I reminisce about that faithful encounter. Finally, I have found someone with whom I could share my interests. The hobbies I kept hidden from everyone, and that secret is I am an otaku. I found someone who shares the same hobbies as me.
What happened yesterday.
Soaking wet, I stayed at a bus stop to hopefully wait out the rain. A couple of hours later, the rain still hasn't gotten weaker. Then I saw this girl handing me an umbrella, which seems to be mine. I look up to see who this person is, and it's probably the girl from the other day. I don't remember her face well, but I'm pretty sure that's her.
She hands me the umbrella.
"Here, thanks for letting me borrow it yesterday," she said sweetly.
"Were you that girl from yesterday?"
"Yes, thanks for lending me your umbrella. That time, I had lost my umbrella."
"Oh, uhh... you're welcome, but how did you even find me here."
"You might not believe me, but it's a coincidence. The building behind us is where I take my piano lessons."
"Wait really?, but how did you know I was the same person from yesterday?"
"Well, I saw the keychain on your bag. That's from the anime series destiny, right?"
"You know that series? It's underrated..."
We talked about our animes and manga till we forgot about time itself. It was only when my mom called me that I realized the time. I quickly got up as the rain had already stopped by then. The girl pulls my sleeve.
"Wait before you go, let's exchange numbers."
"Oh, sure."
I just accepted the offer as I could sense that my mom was angry at me for being late. My mom is very strict, especially when it comes to curfew.
We exchanged numbers. I didn't look at my phone to confirm the number. I ran as fast as I could before my mom gets furious at me.
Gently I open the door to the house. As I open the door, I could see my mom looking at me as if I had killed someone.
"Hiro! what time do you think it is?!"
"Uhm... 9:00 PM"
My mom scolded me for half an hour as my sister was just in the corner laughing, watching me suffer.
After the scolding, I was exhausted, so I changed my clothes then immediately went to bed.
(Note: Otaku is a Japanese term for people with consuming interests, particularly in anime and manga.)
