Chereads / A Love Letter To A Fictional Girl / Chapter 4 - Family's Bond

Chapter 4 - Family's Bond

When I awoke, a warm sensation spread throughout my entire body, and I also came to realize that I could barely move. I try to stand up and get out of bed, but suddenly a horrible headache surged within my head then suddenly I collapsed down onto the floor. The sound of me collapsing was heard throughout the entire house.

The door to my room opens.

It was my Aoi. As she opens the door, she screams.

"Mom! Brother collapsed!"

I could hear the footsteps of someone running.

The last thing I heard was mom's voice before I completely lost consciousness.

"Hiro! What's wrong? Hiro!"

My eyes open, I was in my bed though I still have a bit of a headache.

The door opens. It was Aoi, and it looks like she brought a towel to replace my old one on my head. She saw I was awake.

"Brother! You're finally awake!"

"What the hell happened?"

"You suddenly collapsed this morning, and when we checked your temperature, you were burning hot."

"Wait, so you're the one who took care of me?"

"Who else would take care of you, dummy. Mom went out this morning for her job."

"Oh, I see, thanks, Aoi. Wait but today is Wednesday, didn't you go to school?!"

"I didn't because I had to take care of an idiot like you. Well, since you look fine now, I'm going back to my room then."

Guess my sister could be kind sometimes. The last time she was this kind to me was back when I was in middle school, when "that" happened.

My phone rang, I went to check, and it was Taki. He texted me to check if I was alright.

"Hey, what happened? You didn't come to school today. I have the activities you missed this day, and I was planning to drop them off at your house today."

Ahh, typical Taki. I should probably respond.

"I'm fine. I just felt a little sick, that's all. You can drop the papers off at the door."

"Oh, so you're still alive. Well, I just dropped the papers at your door. Get well. See you tomorrow."

This day was one heck of a ride, even though I spent half of it sleeping. How did I even catch a cold anyway? Oh, yeah, I spent several hours yesterday with my clothes soaking wet. Oh, and I also got to know that girl. Her number should be around here somewhere, Aha! And her name is Nagisa Hasegawa, that's a nice name. As I look into the textbox, she texted me this morning.

"Hey, Tanaka-san, I wanted to know if you were free this Saturday. I want to show you something."

I replied to her message then I went downstairs to look for some food.

"Sure, just text me the time and place where we'll be meeting."

As I was scouring through the fridge, the door opens. It was mom, she immediately saw me and came running to me. Jeez, what a clingy mom.

"Hiro, are you feeling okay? How is your temperature? You should go back and rest."

"I'm fine. I just came here to get some food."

"Then go back to your room. I will prepare food for you."

I just agreed and went straight back to my room. Well, at least I could count on mom.

My mom works at a famous salon in the city, so she gets paid well. My dad, on the other hand, is currently on a business trip to Hokkaido. His job is your typical office man, so nothing exciting about that. My parents are both strict, but they spoil Aoi and me most of the time, but I am glad they're my parents. They are someone I could rely on when times get rough.

My phone rings. I check who it is, and it was Hasegawa-san. She replied to my text.

"Really?! How about let's meet up at the park at 10 AM?"

"Sure, see you on Saturday then."

What is she going to show me? I'm kind of curious now. Is it some a limited edition Destiny series manga? Well, I guess I'm going to find out soon.

The door opens. It's my mom, holding a bowl and some papers.

"Oh, Hiro, here's your chicken soup, and there were some papers at the door when I came home. I think it's yours. I'm just going to leave everything on the table."

"Thanks, mom, for everything."

"Don't worry. I'm your mom. It's part of my responsibilities," she says with a smile on her face.

She leaves.

Ahh, I should probably start doing those assignments.
