Erwen had prepared a personal room for little Lucy. He took Lucy to her room and left, but Lucy was quick to grab his hands. "I am scared of sleeping alone, Erwen."
Erwen smiled when he remembered Daiyana was eight. She was always scared of sleeping alone. Speaking of Daiyana, he knew how much Daiyana loved and trusted Iris, which, he too also liked Iris. He ordered the guards to ask Iris if she can stay for the night. He did not want to order her to stay because he knew she was a busy women.
The guards informed that Iris is not available right now. Erwen wondered why Daiyana would need her maids this late but didn't think much of it. "Alright miss Lucy I will bring someone here to sleep next you." Lucy smiled and finally let go of his hands. Erwen brought an old lady to stay with Lucy. He knew that she would feel more comfortable with an elder lady because thats how Daiyana was. He patted on Lucy's head, smiled at her before he left the room.
Erwen made his way back to his chamber when he realized so many people are gathered outside Daiyana's chamber. He wondered why so many were there. Is she alright? Did she get sick? Did father finally tell her she is marrying someone? Questions began to to pile up in Erwen's brain. He decided to walk in Daiyana's chamber to see what ever is going on.
Erwen walked in and saw his sister, Daiyana laying in her bed looking sick, doctors and maids were all around her. He caught his mother crying and a frown formed on his face as he approached his mother. "Is everything alright, mother? what happened to Daiyana?" Erwen asked. He knew his mother was not in the state of talking so he pulled his mother in his embrace and tried to calm her down. He walked over to the sofa and sat her down to relax a bit.
Hazel had stopped crying. Erwen noticed and wanted to ask questions what happened and why Daiyana is laying in her bed with physicians and maids all around her. He also realized why Iris was not able to sleep next to Lucy.
Erwen knew Daiyana hasn't been eating lately and lost her appetite, which he knew why. "Mother, what's wrong?" Erwen asked.
Hazel pulled away from her son and looked at him. "Your father and I came here to talk with your sister about some matters, and she passed out." Hazel explained and tears began to fall in her cheeks.
Erwen immediately knew what she was talking about and his eyes widened in horror. He couldn't imagine how Daiyana is feeling right now. Wiping his mother's tears, "Mother, what did you and father speak to her about that caused her to het sick? Erwen asked hoping it wasn't about the marriage.
Hazel looked at her son and more tears began to tremble before she could even speak. "She's getting married." Hazel replied crying and dropped her head on her sons chest. As expected, Erwen knew what she was going to say, but he did not speak and continued comforting his mother. He was not surprised by his mothers reply, but what he was surprised of was how much she was crying. To think about it, he doesn't remember his mother crying so much at all.
Erwen always known that his mother would treat him and Daiyana different. He knew he was a lot closer to their mother than Daiyana. She often would check on him only or when they were children, she would play with Erwen more.
Wait! Daiyana is getting married and his mother crying? Daiyana is getting married and is afraid of leaving her home. Could this mean...?
Hazel kept crying and Erwen's jaw clenched when he came to realization. He felt bad for his sister and he knew she did not deserve this fate. "Mother, is this why you became close to me instead?"
How did he know? Indeed, Erwen had alway been smart boy. Hazel pulled away and looked at him with teary eyes and nodded.
Erwen did not know whether what his mother did was good or bad. Though as much as he hated to see Daiyana in pain, he also knew that his mother was left with no choice. It did not only pain Daiyana but it even pained his mother too.
Erwen closed his eyes and leaned back. He did not even know what to think of any more. This place, the dream place of everyone to live in, yet they do not see the pain hidden behind the greatest rich, power, and castles in the world.
Hazel fell asleep on Erwen's shoulder and when he realized, he lay her on the. sofa and took a blanket and wrapped her with it. He kissed his mother and sister on the forehead and left to his chamber.
