Daiyana woke up with a huge headache. She looked around her room and saw her mother sleeping on her sofa. She remembered everything that happened last night and just like that, the pain came right back and felt her heart sink again. She wished she never woke up from this sleep.
Hazel was still sleeping and just before she could get up, she noticed how thin her wrists are. She quickly got up and walked to the mirror to check how much weight she had lost. She gazed at the person looking back at her reflection and saw how terrible she looked. A tear dropped on her cheek and quickly she wiped it away with the back of her hand.
Hazel had woken up and realized that she slept on her daughters sofa. She saw her daughter gazing herself by the mirror. "You lost weight, you should start eating more."
Daiyana wanted to laugh at that. How could she even get near food when she is in this much stress and pain? Instead she tried changing the subject. "You slept on my sofa." She pointed. Daiyana already assumed her mother only stayed with her so that she would be in perfect health before the marriage begins.
"Yes, I figured if you needed anything, I'd help." Hazel replied.
Daiyana was confused. Shouldn't that be a maids job?" "You could have brought Iris instead. You know, being taken care of should be a maids job, right?" Daiyana replied. She hated to speak with her mother like this but she just wanted to let out a little bit of anger inside of her.
Hazel felt like crying to her daughter. If only she could tell her daughter how much this pains her as well. Instead, there was only silence in the room and they both prayed something would happen to escape from this silence.
"Daiyana" Finally the door opened and Erwen came inside. He approached his sister and hugged her like such a worrywart.
"Are you alright? I was so worried for you." Erwen said and it made Daiyana chuckle a little.
"I did not know you would be this much of a worrywart. Well, I should expect it when its from a man named 'Erwen'" Daiyana replied. Though this was not the time to tease right now, she did not want to worry her brother.
Hazel could only watch at her two beautiful children and was thankful that at least Daiyana has Erwen to be by her side when she can't. She wished she could have been closer her. She decided to leave
Daiyana and Erwen heard the door close and realized their mother had just left. Daiyana stared at the door and her gaze turned sad. She became confused as to why her mother stayed with her the whole night, she doesn't know why, but she certainly knows it wasn't because she cared for her.
Erwen felt bad for the both of them. "Mother loves you, Daiyana."
"Really? is this what you call love? your own mother not being there for you whenever you needed it. Your own mother not wanting to speak with you or let you talk to her when ever you needed her as a mother. To help you, be there for you. Is this what you call love, huh, Erwen? Is this how love works, huh?" She replied with so much anger and pain in her voice.
Erwen could feel her anger just by her voice. He did no know anything else to say to her. He reached for her hands and sat her down. "You need rest, Daiyana." Erwen said and quickly left the room without turning to meet her gaze again.
Erwen walked out of the room and leaned against the wall, he could only sigh and sink in frustration. Lucy came to his mind and decided to check on her.
Lucy was peacefully sleeping and a smile formed on Erwen's lips. Memories flashed in his mind of his and Daiyana's childhood. He noticed the old women from last night is not there anymore but he didn't bother to call for her again because he knew she was busy. Instead, he sat on the chair and waited for her to wake up so she wouldn't be afraid and come running in the halls.
