Troy sighed. He hated when Jonah got all self-deprecating. He was an awesome guy if you ignored the fact that he was kind of a downer. But it was perfectly explainable with the life he had lived.
He paused his game and slung an arm over his cousin's shoulders. "I take back my earlier statement; we are both disappointments. At least we're disappointments together."
Jonah laughed. "Nice pep talk. You should become a motivational speaker."
"Shut up."
"Seriously though, I'm glad I have you, Troy. You're the best big brother a guy could ask for," he said sincerely once his laughter had passed.
A lump rose in his throat. He had certainly tried to be since Jonah had lost almost everyone else he ever loved. He had spent most of his life at this sullen guy's side trying to get him to cheer up.
"Don't get all sentimental on me," Troy replied as he pushed his cousin away. "Do you want to join the next round? I can get out the other controller."
