Juno sits in the chair as quiet as a mouse as time passes slowly. Stiffening up she trys to make herself invisible as she stares at the ground. "Gah!!! Really, where is this girls parents!?" One of the supervisors shouts loudly in annoyance startling Juno. Shrinking back more Juno becomes slightly paralyzed. "Well it's not that surprising anymore. I can understand why you're upset though... It's already 4:30 school has been out for more then an hour..." The other supervisor says with a long sigh.
"Sweetie is there a reason your parents are always this late? Do you have any close friends or relatives that could pick you up?" The teacher asked Juno who was shrinking back further and further into the corner. Hearing the teacher ask her something she flinches slightly. Looking up, just enough to look at the lady talking to her, she shifts her eyes away in fright. "I-I-I..." Juno trails off trying to communicate... "hmm? Are you okay? You're not sick right?" The teacher asks with a gentle voice as she stood up approaching Juno. With a kind hand she rubs Junos back trying to soothe her. Frightened, Juno physically jumps away from the teacher. Seeing the girls strong reaction the teachers eyes dialate in shock. With a face as if she was about to vomit Juno inches closer to the door. Noticing her expression the teacher can't help but feel awkward. With her hand awkwardly in the air from trying to soothe Juno she sits down.
"hmm... I guess I frighten you I'm sorry..." The lady apologized with an ugly expression. Standing up she slowly approaches Juno again. Being much taller then Juno her body cast a shadow over Juno frightening the girl more. With tears in her eyes Juno stares at the lady as if she were a monster. With her back plastered against the door she opens the door quickly running away. "Ah!? Where are you going!?" The teacher yells pushing her head out the door watching Juno run through the halls. "Just let her go. I just called her parents. They said they would come get her soon and to let her wait outside. Basically we are allowed to leave. I don't think she should be our responsibility anymore... Seeing as even her parents said it's okay to leave her." The supervisor who had quietly watched everything said with slight disgust in her eyes. "Well shes long gone now... What was with her? I was being nice to her and she looked like I was about to hit her." The other lady said with a furrowed brow. Entering back into the office and collecting her stuff she starts to leave. "You're probably right why should I deal with a brat like that anymore." She dissatisfyingly said leaving the office.
Holding her knees in a corner quietly Juno whimpers. Thinking of everyone that had hurt her, Juno couldn't help but to cry quietly. 'I don't want to go home... I don't want to see those people tomorrow... I just want to disappear...' Juno thought with tears in her eyes. With several thoughts swirling in her eyes Juno stood up. A note fell out of her pocket getting her attention and distracting her from her negative thoughts. With a slightly trembling hands she picks up the small note. The note had a number on the front making Juno remember who gave this to her. With a small smile she remembered Grace who she had met earlier. 'Shes... really too nice... She is even helping me now..." Juno thinks wiping the tears from her eyes. With a slightly better expression she left the school and sat outside.
'I can't go back to the office... That lady probably hates me too...' Juno thought remembering the lady who frightened her. 'I shouldn't have acted like that... This is probably why no one likes me... I just felt so scared for some reason...' Juno kept thinking getting lost in her thoughts.
*Another hour passes*
Shaking like a leaf in the wind Juno sat alone outside the school. Day light was running thin and no one had come to pick her up. There wasn't even a single car left in the parking lot. With a long sigh Juno realized something. 'They are never going to come get me...' Juno thought with a melancholy smile not befitting her age. Tears slowly ran down her cheeks as her already red nose became more rosy. Curling into a ball Juno cries waiting for people who will never come. Without a phone or transportation her only choice was to walk. Wiping her tears Juno gets off the ground and starts walking towards her house. With small steps she finally leave the school.
'I think I knew this would happen...' Juno thinks looking down in a daze. 'They never picked me up before... Why did I even wait..? Its not like those teachers would have stopped me from leaving... I really am a fool... waiting for my parents... never leaving until that supervisor says they called my parents... Maybe I really am just a burden after all.' Juno thought crying again as she walked home in silence. The only sound was the passing cars and endless wind.
Luckily Juno lived close to the school and she knew her way home. Like a lost dog she opened the door to be greeted by a dark corridor. Not a light was left on in the house... It was silent, the only hint that anyone was there were the shoes placed neatly by the door. Taking her shoes off she quietly goes upstairs to her room not alerting anyone of her arrival.
The next morning no one said anything to Juno. Without a word they left the house and went to work. Like every morning Juno made her food and went to school. She no longer expected anything. Silently she sat at her desk, put her head down, and ignored the whole world. But today wasn't like every other day. Today she wouldn't be alone... Because now she had Grace. With a big smile Grace approached Juno at her desk. Looking up Juno's eyes widen as she stared at Grace. "Its you again..." Juno whispered as her face softened and she smiled.
