"So... What made you decide to make fried rice?" I raised my head to look at Dylan's face from across the plastic table as he raises an eyebrow before redirecting his gaze towards the plate in front of him.
"It's rude ta talk while ya eat. Didya learn these manners from bein' born into money?" Dylan turns the topic back towards me as it was my turn to look annoyed.
Hey! So much for small talk! Besides, majority of deals are closed during a conversation over a meal. He even got the saying all wrong, after all, it's 'not to talk with your mouth full', rather than, 'rude to talk while you eat'!
I decided not to dwell on his pointed question and assumed a magnanimous role as I tried to compliment him for the meal— although just like the first time he had cooked for me, this one was just as hard to keep down. Nevertheless, it was a form of hospitality he showed me and I should respond in kind.
