"Woah," said the voice above me, "You walk quite insanely, if you ask me"...
I looked up to see who exactly he was...
"Well, turns out it's your greyish green eyed boy," Alice amused. " SHUT UP HE IS NOT MINE" I countered.
"Well then, it's great that I didn't ask for your opinions then." I replied to him. " Now if you would excuse me I have places to be at".
"Isn't it quite refreshing?" he taunted but I only raised my brows in response, 'that after my friendly attempt of starting a conversation you are snapping at me." He said sadly or maybe sarcastically. I don't know actually.
"Listen, I'm already late and I have to start my shift now. I'm so sorry for being rude, but I can't manage to be more late, Bye!" I said hurriedly.
" See you soon. Hope you didn't forget our meeting." he shouted after me. But well I didn't bother looking back.
..
...
I reached café just on time. I hurriedly waved Rosie at the counter and went to put on an apron, and started serving the tables. I was done after about 3 hours.
I removed my apron and made my way to the coffee machine made, myself and my PARTNER who still has not graced me with his presence, a cup of coffee. Just as I was done with the coffee. The bell of front door rang and I looked to to see him looking around for me. So I waved him towards the table I was sitting on.
"Hey," Jason said. "Ok, so now that you are here we should start working on our project." I said nonchalantly.
He seemed insulted but he never made a comment on that but said, "Yeah, right."
We continued to work on the project for an hour till I remembered that I have to go on my shift in the mall. "Umm, I think its okay for now, you could just tell me what part you could do and I'll do the other remaining part so that we could compile that tomorrow and submit it on Friday. Does that sound okay to you?" I asked him.
"Oh, okay." Then we decided how we are going to do it and after going through this all I stood up and began to say something well he interrupted me and said instead,
"I was thinking if I could have your number so that I would be able to reach you when I'm finished with this or when I need help with it."
I eyed him suspiciously but took his phone from his hand and added my name in it. He smiled and waved me a bye and turned around.
"Well he is quite cute, right Alicia ?" Alice amused.
"How many times do I need to say it that it's none of my concerns " I said.
Shaking my head I made my way out of the cafe and made my journey towards the mall. I had asked my boss to give me the advanced payment for my shifts. That he had agreed.
So after collecting money I went to the hospital and paid for my mother's bills.
After that I went to meet my mother in her room where she has been resting for past 2 years.
On my way, I thought to meet her doctor so that he can update me about her situation.
I knocked at his door.
"Come in," Dr. Watson's voice replied.
"Evening doc," I said. He looked up from his papers and gave me a small smile and nodded his head for me to take a seat.
"Umm, doc I was wondering if there were any kind of improvements in my mother's condition?" I asked him hopefully.
His eyes lost there shine for a moment though he masked it with a somewhat supportive smile.
"I'm afraid," he trailed off. My heart felt as if someone had just shot me again and again there.
"So, you mean doctor? I mean h-how is she doing?" I chocked.
"Ms. Walters I believe that she is a very strong woman who has a will to survive, but its not always in our control. We can just wish for the best, but still there are bitter doubts." I nodded my head at this no more wanting to believe his words.
"So, for now I suggest you spend your time with her and make the most of it. Because with her condition we never know what happens." He informed me sadly.
"Th-Thank you, Doctor." I responded not even knowing what else I could say.
I stood up from my seat and moved towards the door. As I made my way out of the door the water dam in my eyes bursted out. I could not take it anymore so I ran hurriedly towards the bathroom stall and balled out my eyes. Once, I had no more tears left to shed I made my way towards wash basin and washed my face.
"Alicia Walters, You are strong1 You always stand high. Mom is going to be alright. She has to be." I tried to encourage myself in the mirror.
But deep inside I, only I knew how much it hurt.
After that I made my way towards my mom's room to meet the person I have been living for.
