Lydia's friends came home for spring break their second year. They had a little reunion and of
course Lydia wanted to go. So, they decided to meet for lunch and at once, Lydia felt out of place.
Everyone was going on and on about the different things that they were experiencing. Lydia's best
friend Sheila had decided to go to an HBCU and was overly excited about all of the culture she was
experiencing. Sheila was trying to explain to Lydia about this phenomenon called: "Stepping," that
the Fraternities and Sororities does. Sheila was very proud to be a student at Grambling State
University and kept going on and on about how cute the guys were and how she had a crush on a
Q dog. Sheila was very determined to get into a good Sorority and had her eyes on becoming a
Delta.
Lydia's friends seem to be living a very good and care free life. Her friends were chatting away
happily. Drinks were being poured and flowing abundantly. Food was rapidly being ordered and
consumed. But Lydia didn't really have that much money and could only order a small Appetizer
and a glass of water. She could order as much water as she wanted since it was free.
Finally, everyone stopped talking as one of Lydia's friends asked her about what was going on in
her life. Suddenly Lydia became the center of attention and she was utterly embarrassed and
didn't know what to say. So, she just sat there and shook her head back and forth. She said "no!"
" You do not want to hear about my boring life." "You guys are living exciting adventures." "'Me,
I'm just taking care of a baby. Nothing special."
What else could she say? The only thing that she could contribute to the conversation was her
lonely and sad life living in a cheap, ragedy apartment and taking care of an infant. What was she
going to tell them? That she lived next door to a crack head named Craig and a stripper named
Caress?
No thank you!
How embarrassing!
So naturally, Lydia began to feel a whole lot of resentment. Lydia had a bad habit of blaming other
people for her mishaps and mistakes. She never was the type who took ownership of her problems
and never blamed herself for her mistakes. Lydia always found a scapegoat to blame her issues on
and never once in her entire life, has she ever blamed herself.
Unfortunately, for little Max this would be the beginning of a very cruel time in his life. Lydia
started blaming Max for her life being in shambles. It was his fault that she had to live in such a
pathetic, poverty-stricken state. Lydia felt that if he hadn't been born....
Never mind the fact that she plotted, planned and schemed by getting pregnant on purpose so she
could trap and keep her husband. It's not her fault that she didn't get to go to college and have
exciting adventures like her friends. It's not her fault that she had to spend her days locked up in a
nasty apartment in a rotten neighborhood taking care of a baby. This is not what she signed up
for!
Lydia was absolutely not taking the blame for her demise. This is Max's fault. He did this to her.
No way on God's green earth was she admitting to her mistakes. Nope!
Oh no! Miss Lydia was way too proud and way too arrogant. She didn't see anything wrong with
what she did. She never thought that she did anything wrong. Nor does she ever apologize for
anything!
MIss Lydia is way too perfect.
