Chapter 10 - Chapter 11: Hasty Decisions

"What are we going to do now?", Eamus asked, "This has seriously gotten out of hand so we desperately need a plan to solve this dilemma or else Akanon will take over this city while we watch and wait helplessly",

"And we don't have enough warriors to defend the city from external attacks. moreover, our food storage won't last long enough if we were to be laid under siege", Wanad added and went back to his seat.

"I think we should accept his offer to duel with the destined one since that's the only solution to this problem besides it will be better to prevent casualties on both sides", Juno said as he paced around deeply in thought,

"You sound as if it's the best option right now. Don't you know that Akanon is a skilled warrior ever since he was still a lad? Or have you forgotten that he trained along with the top warriors who taught most of the chiefs that ruled the city?", Simon retorted immediately, "He should not be underestimated under any circumstances as you can all see that he survived that hell-hole we sent him to dwell in",

"I know but we don't have any choice right now, we'll are aware that we can't presently afford to risk a war because of incessant reports of Vedon's evil force that is encroaching the south side of Ataxia and we aren't capable enough to quell this situation that is presently right on our doorstep", Juno vigorously replied as loose strands of white hair swayed sideways round his shoulder.

"So you suggest we accept his offer and deliberately setup a duel? Aren't you aware that the destined one is presently no match for Akanon? Don't you know that she hasn't began her training to become a red wolf warrior yet? Let alone engage in a duel with Akanon who had been trained and taught many combat skills on how to defeat any opponent",Samon replied and then aggressively stood up from his seat.

"Calm down now Brothers, we shouldn't be fighting ourselves over this issue but we should put our minds together to sort out a way to solve this dilemma besides, fighting amongst ourselves doesn't confer any solution but only tear us apart thereby allowing Akanon to get the better of us",Eamus said calmly which made Samon to retreat back to his seat with his eyes still staring hard at Juno who also gazed equally at him but said nothing as he moved quietly to his seat.

"Good, now let's make a decision right here and now. I have thought out a secret plan which I believe would be able to solve this issue and as well, put an end to Akanon and his charade to take the title of Chief", Eamus said adjusting himself forward on his seat.

"What's this plan of yours? It better succeed or we'll only be creating more problems for ourselves", Samon replied.

"Can't you just listen for once, Samon? He said he has thought out a way to cob this issue which you couldn't, so let's hear him out first before passing any unruly judgement", Juno who had been patiently waiting for a chance to fight Samon, retorted immediately trying to bait Samon into starting a fight.

"Juno, what are you implying? Do you mean that I aren't capable enough to create an idea?", Samon quickly snapped and sat upright in a fighting position.

The Eamus quickly noticed June's trickery of playing mind games with Samon and instantly intervened.

"Stop it! Both of you! We've a serious problem to tackle right now and both of you are acting like toddlers in front of the other members here present. Aren't you suppose to be ashamed of yourselves especially Juno who is behaving like a wounded kitten....", Eamus barked harshly but was interrupted by a suppressed laughter made by Samon, "It isn't funny at all because instead of thinking how to easily solve the issue at hand, you were busy fighting each other while the enemy roam around freely",

"Eamus, don't be angry with them for they are only concern about their ego instead of the commoners welfare. I think you should forget this two and tell us about the plan because we don't have all day to spend here", Wanad responded quietly,

"Okay I will continue. Listen carefully to what I am about to say. This is what we will do during the duel between Akanon and the destined one. We'll use the Sajura mercenaries to secretly carry out this plan when all of his warrior's attention as well as the commoners are focused on the duel match. While they are distracted, the mercenaries will go outside the city and plunder their camp as well as raid those within the city without raising any alarm. Afterwards, they will quickly surround the arena and block all of the exit leaving no entry. Then we will sneak out of the arena without arousing any suspicion, to the back of the arena and use the stationed mercenaries to catch Akanon where he will be vulnerable to us", Eamus cunningly whispered.

"It's a good plan indeed, but isn't the plan a little bit obvious? don't you think that he will be prepared for it to happen?", Wanad doubtly questioned.

"Akanon may be a skilled fighter but he isn't that good when it comes to using his head. And he's a poor strategist that has never made a good idea until now", Eamus replied confidently.

"But I still feel he's different from before when he came into this hall not long ago, and we never expected him to successfully pull out such a grand scheme to take over the city not mentioning how he survived that hell-hole", Samon said still feeling the shock he felt when he saw Akanon.

"I'll give him credit for surviving that wretched place and as well as devising such scheme to take over the city but that doesn't mean that he had overcome his weaknesses which had made him incompetent of ruling the city harmoniously. I still sensed that bullish behavior in him and I am sure because of the way he carries himself like he owns the place ", Eamus replied with a short smile across his face.

" Very well, that's what we'll do but we're forgetting something", Samon said,

"And what is that?", Juno sneered at him but this time, he didn't succeed in his mind games.

"The plan is perfect but it can still fail if the destined one doesn't keep Akanon engaged for a long period while the mercenaries do their job", Samon answered and evaded the eyes of Juno.

"You have a good point there Samon. In order to solve this, you will be the one to inform Karz about the duel and also tell to give her a stringent training to stand a chance against Akanon in the duel match. And Juno, quickly send word to Akanon that we accept his offer. While Wanad, I think you'll have to inform the commoners to get prepared for the duel", Eamus ordered, "I think we should adjourned this meeting till the next day when we'll decide and select a suitable date for the duel match to be held",

Then they all stood up with their eyes closed together and each of them meditavely chanting a spell in their dialect, creating a red aura which swayed calmly around them in a circular motion until it grew bigger which entirely engulfed them. Then it suddenly disappeared along with them leaving no trace of them behind.
