Chapter 6 - THE FOUR ARE OFF

In exactly half an hour, all were on their cycles and had set off to Silken's Village.

On the way, Cam announced the plan,

" All right, first we'll stop at a cafe in the suburbs and interrogate the owner. Willy, do you remember how did the van look?"

"Sure. It was a blue Volkswagen. It had a dent near the rear right door. I can easily identify it." assured Willy.

"Good, so once we reach the cafe we shall ask the owner about the van, and the rest we'll decide once we reach there."

In nearly forty-five minutes they reached a cafe where they had their lunch, and Cam went to ask for the van and also for a place to stay.

The owner was delighted to have customers. He lent them some mattresses and blankets for the chilly nights. Then he started,

"Well, I'm not so sure that it was a Volkswagen but I can say that a van in a shabby condition came to the village yesterday. As this is a small village so a handful of vehicles pass by and I watch almost all of them. The men from the van stopped for lunch here..."

Then Jenny asked, "Can you tell us where were they staying, sir?

"You see that mansion missy, that's where they went." said the man pointing to an old mansion. But that's the weirdest thing." "Why?" asked Willy.

"Well, the mansion used to be the property of an old man who abandoned it after some time. Still, the locals believe that someone resided there as you can see smoke coming out of the chimney." the owner informed. But still, nothing is certain. The men in the van were the only people to enter that mansion in ages. Informed the owner, busy in his own chores as all this didn't matter much to him.

But it certainly did to the four. They all went for a walk near the mansion and discussed the matter.

"I guess we have enough evidence to prove that the men took our dads in that mansion. I say Willy and pay this old structure a visit this night." Said Cam scanning the mansion. All agreed with him.

"My goodness, look at that tree. Another mighty blow and it will come down crashing onto the road," said Thomas pointing at an old oak tree. "Just don't roam near it and you will be safe" assured Willy looking at the gigantic tree.

While returning, Jenny asked Cam, "Would dad be all right?

Cam replied, "He would be all right and will be back at home drinking tea without mum's knowledge."

..Everyone gave a grin.
