Gremory was tall for a normal child but he was still the smallest one there, but the dog that appeared in front of him looked more like a bear with 3 heads howling for blood and with a sanguinary look in the direction of Redwig who soon stopped his advance.
Yet Gremory knew that this creature could not be stronger than Redwig by the number of elemental particles (mana) it took to summon it. However, the psychological effect that this abyss creature had on the people around him was far superior to its real strength.
The infernal dog Cerberus did not appear to have any weaknesses and even in front of so many enemies, he stepped in front of his master ready to attack anyone who approached. There was not even a blind spot in that creature since with the 3 heads there were also 3 pairs of eyes and his thinking was certainly synchronized since his movement was fluid.
"Easy boy." Gremory spoke while he approached Cerberus, petting one of the creature's heads.
Nobody knew what to think when they saw that creature being treated just like a normal dog, not even Danton, who had already moved away from Gremory for fear that Cerberus would attack him. The silence reigned again until again Redwig starts to laugh but this time no one laughed with him. "HAHAHAHAHA, AWESOME! YOU ARE THE MONSTER!" he said excitedly.
"I'm not a monster, just the fire mage from the Viridian house who came to help defend my homeland." Gremory spoke up breaking Redwig's animation.
"You can call yourself whatever you want, but I know very well where you came from and how many people you killed in that village. But it doesn't matter, after all, they were all just prey for you, right?" Redwig spoke, but despite his sudden change of mood, he was now putting away his weapons, indicating that there would be no combat there.
"I didn't kill anyone in Tuska, we were attacked. I don't know what you heard about me, but it's probably just a lie, I had a very peaceful life until what happened in the village." Gremory replied and although there was no need for combat, there he was emitting a threatening aura fully aimed at Redwig that didn't even blink.
"So tell me which part of the rumors is false. Many villagers of your village commented that you don't eat food and to survive you absorbed the body of the dead leaving only dust behind, and coincidentally there were no bodies after your village attack, everyone just vanished." Redwig asked Gremory, but there were only truths there and that made Gremory silent thinking about what to say, but nothing came to his mind.
"..."
"That's what I thought, you are just a monster that pretends to be human. But I recognize your strength, you are pretending to be a kid so that people underestimate you as I did now." Redwig spoke after a few seconds of Gremory's silence.
"It is not important now, you are all under my command and if this is a problem then I will report directly to Geoffrey." Gremory spoke irritably while he pulled out the squad information document, proving what he said.
"Geoffrey is crazy as always hahaha. But if he trusts a monster to help in this mission then it is because the situation is very complicated. Okay Gremory, but I will be the second in command of the squad."
"No problem with that." Gremory spoke while he held out his hand to Redwig who squeezed as hard as if he were going to crush a stone, but Gremory anticipating this and also reinforced his hand with the shadows to create a little protection.
The summoning of Cerberus took about 20% of his mana, but the mana needed to maintain Cerberus was not much greater than Gremory Shell.
'Does the spending maybe increase when I fight or maybe the biggest cost is just to summon the creature?'
There were many doubts about the creature's effect and ability in front of Gremory, but there were also two facts. Cerberus was loyal and soon he would have a chance to prove his worth in combat.
The squad that was preparing to leave finally left now with the addition of Hjmar. Unlike Gremory's other friends, there were warriors without magic who focused on their physical abilities, as a result of that, their speed through the forest was immense.
Too huge even for Gremory to keep up with since he still had a D rank when it came to his physical abilities.
'How can this guy be faster than me?' Gremory thought as he watched Redwig run through the forest in all his armor, his armor was too heavy. But he showed no signs of fatigue even after running for a entire hour.
Cerberus, seeing that his master was on the verge of exhaustion, went to his side and opened one of his mouths.
Gremory was surprised by this sudden attitude and thought he was going to be attacked by Cerberus, but he just bit his leather armor and threw it at Cerberus to be carried along the way.
The squad leader being the first to get tired after running for just a few kilometers would be a joke, but the sight the squad had of seeing a child riding on a demonic dog with three heads was different from what they were having until a few minutes ago.
With an accelerated pace, they arrived 8 days later in the Orc Army or at least a piece of it. The army stretched through the forest and left a trail of fallen trees where they passed to make room for the soldiers behind to march as well. But there was smoke nearby in several directions, indicating that this was only a segment of the army as predicted by Geoffrey.
"You mean this is just a piece of the big army?" Danton exclaimed at the sight in front of him.
"Yes, they were probably sent ahead to make way for the rest of the troops." Redwig spoke.
There were at least 10,000 orcs there, who were too busy cutting down trees to notice a few hundred warriors sneaking through the trees.
"The plan remains the same, if we can get them out of here then the advance of the main army will be affected. If we can eliminate some orcs in the process then we will, but that is not the main goal here!" Gremory spoke, initiating the attack.
