The settlement was getting more chaotic every second that passed, Gremory party continued rescuing as many non-humans as they could, but most of the time the only option was to ignore because of the massive numbers of orcs. Fortunately, the settlement was too big and their organization very bad.
"We can't escape with more than that." Redwig spoke to me.
Only ten minutes passed since we got in, but we already have 25 non-humans with us, they don't understand the common language but they were still following since they had nowhere to go.
'Shit..... Robert.... Are you seeing this? I am trying, but Redwig is right.'
Intelligence was not one of the strongest assets of the orcs, but keep hidden so many people while walking through the settlement was asking for death. It was time to leave with what they have.
"Let's go then, hurry up!" Gremory spoke leading them through the orcs. Redwig rushed just like a bull, smashing every orc in his way. Cleaning the road for us.
Yet, on our way out, many orcs got attracted by us and we lead them directly to the lines that were barely holding themselves.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY" Gremory screamed.
Every one passed through the adventurer's line while hundreds of orcs were coming. When they passed, Redwig stood there and activated another of his runes, the one on his shield.
His body got stuck on the ground like a wall, dozens of orcs rushed against him but they were not able to pass over him. Yet, even his armor was starting to get damaged by all attacks at the same time.
The flames on the settlement were surrounding everything, killing everyone inside, but hundreds of them managed to escape through the flames once they realized the trap.
Their numbers were still massive but now was possible to kill them.
Gremory didn't want to waste the chance of absorbing so much dark energy, but he knew that was too much for him to absorb and keep running on retreat. So he chose to fight until the end and to do that he needed the strength of every adventurer there.
"IF WE DON'T KILL THEM HERE, THEN THEY WILL KILL YOUR FAMILY'S, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR HOME IN LATHIRIUM. SO KEEP FIGHTING UNTIL IS OVER EVEN IF THAT COST YOUR LIFE!" Gremory screamed, motivating them to a total battle pushing them towards the flames.
'I am not addicted, is just that it would be a waste to leave everything here. But I will keep the ones I saved alive Robert.'
Yet, somewhere in the abyss was someone crying now, while watching abyss creatures fighting among themselves for fun.
Gremory didn't knew that, but while fighting he saw many adventurers dying on the battlefield just like flies, so many people dead and everything, even the destruction of the settlement was his fault. However, he stopped fighting to watch the ground full of blood and that made him remember the abyss. He passed his hand over his face and a large smile was there, he tried to make a different expression but the excitement was too big for him to control.
'What am I doing? This is suicide!'
"WE HAVE TO RETREAT NOW!" It was what gremory tried to scream, but no words come out of his mouth.
Without noticing, his pupil doubled inside the iris. (Author note: look at the comment!)
"KEEP FIGHTING UNTIL THE LAST MAN STANDING!" Gremory screamed once again, but these were not the words that Gremory wanted to say.
'WHAT?' He was confused, and soon he lost control over his movements and started to feel like he had much more mana than before.
He started attacking every orc ahead, using Shadow Impulse and Shadow Evasion non-stop. With his new sword and rune effect, now Shadow Impulse reached 15 meters.
One orc after another, his movement now was far superior of a rank A warrior, he was so fast and was casting so much without even worrying of hitting an ally, as some of them were cut in half by his sword while he was attacking the orcs.
Soon the battle started turning in their favor, with every orc too scared to fight while part of the adventurers keeps themselves behind afraid of being target by his rage.
It was just impossible to hit Gremory, his mana stock seemed to be endless with him using shadow evasion almost every second.
And then, the dozens of orcs that were still alive surrendered. But Gremory didn't stop. Even the orcs who had already thrown their weapons to the ground began to be dilacerated by Gremory.
Meanwhile, Gremory was going crazy inside his head because he couldn't control a single movement of him. His body creaked in pain like never before because of the accelerated flow of mana and the movement that went far beyond his capabilities. Until he started to hear a familiar voice in his head, it was the Oracle.
"If you forgot your purpose master, then I will guide you." The Oracle said inside Gremory's head.
"You fuck** bastard, give my body back!" He replied
"As you wish."
The moment the Oracle said that, the control returned and with it, blood started pouring off Gremory mouth, his bones cracked once more and he just fell on the ground almost dead.
There was only one thing he could do now before losing his consciousness. He opened his shell and absorbed the dead avoiding the adventurers that died on the battlefield.
Dark energy was not visible for normal human beings, but the flow of dark energy going into Gremory body was so dense that everyone could see it, while the bodies of the dead turned into dust.
All his broken bones, flesh, and wounds started healing in front of them and at the same time, a new name was added into Hanzor Body Rune.
