Chapter 25 - Eighth Phase

--Gremory Point of View-- (Autor note: After this chapter I will stop using this until is necessary)

(Autor note: I'm trying to improve my writing, so I'll start using third person more often)

Gremory has never fought this kind of monster, but it was obvious that their defense was extreme because they were made of massive rock.

'They are so big, but there must be some weakness'

I use shadow impulse focusing on just the right golem while deflecting others. The attack was effective in making a large cut in the golen's belly, but without effect because it did not hit any critical points.

'Shit, it must have some energy point or a core of some kind'

That golen's movement barely slowed down after the attack while the other two kept coming after me, luckily their speed was relatively slow, so it was easy to create distance again.

'That way it won't work, I need a weapon'

Again I use shadow impulse but the damage is very low.

'I'll have to stay here all day until I turn these golens to dust or find the core'

----

In the grandstands floating above the arena there was a big screen in front of each person showing the battle up close.

"Just as I said my lady Layren" The same warrior who was sent as spy spoke.

"Yes, that's curious, what do you think when you see the way he fights?"

"He is hiding his trump cards"

In this grandstand there was separation according to the house and position in it, but they were all still close. There were also several guests, nobles, influential people and strong guild members or leaders.

A man dressed in purple clothes with the symbol of a sword X with a rose, on hearing this conversation decided to meddle.

"Nonsense, he's just prolonging his time in the arena to make a scene"

"It may be true Marquis Jaquis Elum, but the simple fact that he survived until now is already quite impressive, isn't it? Add that to the fact that he created a spell that spends so little mana, and you will see that what I brought is a jewel" Marquis Joseph Ranseur spoke while drinking his champagne in a mocking tone.

"Since you decided to talk about him, let me take the opportunity to ask you something that has been bothering me for a while, what is the element of this boy? Unfortunately I haven't been able to deduce so far..." Lady Layren spoke.

"Ahh about that, I didn't get the chance to ask, maybe wind?"

"I don't think so..." A blonde woman spoke while leaning on one of the chairs.

"Lady Valeriam, I thought you had retired to rest. Since an S rank master in the wind element said that, then you're probably right" Marquis Ranseur spoke.

"I had to come here to see with my own eyes the prodigy that created a wind spell supposedly so incredible before it even started its training. But now that I see it, I can say with certainty that his element is not wind, and I am also not sure about the mana cost of this spell, to be fighting for so long his reserves seem quite extravagant for his age..."

--- Back at the fight ---

After a long time using shadow impulse I finally managed to reach its core, defeating the first golem.

The noise in the audience got even louder than before, sweat started to come down my face.

'What I wouldn't do to find a stick on the ground...'

As simple as that I start to see small particles of darkness forming in the shape of a small stick.

'Uhh, maybe my shadow manipulation has improved too'

From that base of shadows I try to form a sword again, but to my surprise this time a small sword formed in my hand.

"Huhh, try to catch me now" I speak as I point the little shadow sword at the two golems that slowly approach me.

I swing the sword and activate shadow impulse, but this time the golem is just cut in half, breaking its core.

'Wow, the difference is huge between activating on a sword compared to the staff or my arm. You little one deserve a name, how about Stickyt?'

At that moment a runic inscription is formed under the shield name with the name Stickyt.

'Looks like you liked it, it's time to defeat the last golem then'

The golens were just brute force but lost to their slowness, with another shadow impulse the stone golem fell dead on the ground, ending the eighth stage.

The woman with white hair was furious and announced the end of the eighth phase.

"Well well, congratulations! I didn't expect you to make it through this phase, but you know... it has to end now"

She put her hand on the shoulder of two of the previous mages who summoned the golens and again stone golens appeared in the arena, only this time surrounding me in far greater numbers.

At least 30 stone golens appeared in all corners of the arena, leaving little room for movement due to the size of these golens.

-- In the grandstand --

Marquis Ranseur rose from his chair as if he had been outraged.

"Don't you think she is exaggerating? This arena was not prepared for fighting like that, he can get hurt badly here!"

"She knows very well what she is doing, this has taken too long and the tradition should not be broken by anyone" A man wearing a red robe similar to Layren's spoke while pointing to the Marquis's chair, signaling that he should calm down.

"I know, but why don't just go one of you there to finish this, GrandMaster Kluster?"

"Look at him, he should not hide a thing from us!"

Everyone looks down and sees the boy holding a shield as big as the boy.

---

'They just won't stop until I fall... If I am going to fall for these worms then at least I will take as many as I can with me!'

"MANDRAKE SHIELD" I scream.
