There were four wagons in the caravan but two of them were destroyed and the horses were killed, leaving behind just two wagons. Most of the people near the destroyed wagons were already dead and just two guards were still alive protecting the merchants.
'I can feel 12 dead humans, but I don't think the caravan people would be very happy if I feed on them... Such a waste, if we had arrived just a little later I would have a banquet'
The survivors seeing that the undead goblins were not attacking stayed away from us.
"Don't worry guys, we are adventurers send here to kill the goblins!" Danton spoke while approaching the caravans.
As soon the survivors realized that they were safe, they came rushing towards the party to thank us, but at the same time keeping our distance from the living dead.
"I don't know what would happen to us if you guys didn't arrive"
"Finally it's over, I was thinking we were going to die here"
"Please take this money, is all I have right now but it wouldn't for you, I would be dead"
Everyone started to see Danton as a light at the end of the tunnel, who came to save them at the worst possible time.
"You own nothing to us, and also you probably need this coin more than I do. The people you guys lost here probably have a family, so please pass this money on to her" He replied to the pleas of the survivors.
Claire and Rudo agreed with him.
"You are so kind, you don't mind saying your name?"
"I am Danton Florian, the leader of Hjmar Guild!" He replied with confidence.
"I am in debt to you, I will never forget this!" One of the merchants spoke.
'This is annoying, if we don't go to the other group soon it will regroup in the camp, besides I can't feel them, so we will have to cover a lot of ground in a short time'
"Hey guys, I am sorry for what happened to your dead companions, but we have to track another group of goblins quickly, so... Danton, do you mind?" I spoke interrupting the moment of heroism.
"Yes, he is right. Sorry, but we really need to go now, send some of your people to the city asking for help, and we will handle the rest of the goblins" Danton spoke trying not to dismantle the scene.
"I can't feel the other group, they probably haven't found any prey yet and should soon go back to camp. I will divide the troops and send them north to cover a larger amount of space until I find them" I spoke while sending the 32 small goblins to seek for them.
My crooked staff still is covered in shadows, but I don't know for how long, so just in case I kept the 4 big goblins as protection.
"You look to know what you are doing" Claire spoke while watching me commanding the undead goblins.
"We share the same mind, so it's easy, I just think, and they do" I replied as I approached her with the remaining goblins.
"We should follow north until they find something" Rudo intervened.
'The small goblins are very slow but yes, is better to follow them from close by'
"Let's go then"
--We started to run behind them in small paces--
40 minutes later I could feel one of my most distant goblins die.
"I found them!" I said calling everyone's attention to follow me.
'Regroup around me quickly!'
The moment I saw the last group I signaled the party to hide and then we waited until everyone regrouped around us., This was just another group with 31 small goblins and 3 big goblins.
"You three, focus on the big ones" I spoke to the big undead goblins, leaving only one behind as protection.
"Rudo and Danton, you must help in killing the bigger ones first while Claire takes the torches down" I said turning to the rest of the group.
They just nodded in reply.
"Charge!!!" I scream.
I began to realize that it is better to stand still coordinating the battlefield at these times than fighting as a simple warrior with a stick.
'The small undead goblins are quite weak so if no one organizes their formations constantly they just fight in a disorganized way and die one after the other'
Even with my help, seven goblins died until Claire killed the last one with a torch, then the fight started to tend to our side.
The bigger ones fell in sync right away, so I decided to change my way of fighting.
I ended the life of 20 small undead goblins and absorb their energy, right after I use it to revive two of the larger goblins.
The small undead goblins turning into dust in front of the enemy made them scary and started to fight even more desperately.
One after another, every goblin of the third group fell without me having to move a finger.
--Some minutes later--
"Wow, that was intense" Rudo spoke while catching breath.
"I am starting to get used to fighting alongside the living dead" Danton spoke while wiping blood from his sword on his clothing
"Why you don't help in the fight?" Claire asked.
"I am helping, controlling the undead is better than just fighting with this stick!" I replied while pointing out my crooked staff.
"He is right, we couldn't do this without the help of the undead" Danton spoke defending me.
"You are playing with their heads, what you did, in the end, was not cool at all" Claire spoke angrily.
"I didn't do it for making them scary, I just wanted to change the quality of the goblins since these small ones are very weak"
"Yet, their numbers would be quite good. Since many of them died there is no way you can bring others back?" Rudo asked as he pointed to the bodies of the goblins that had not yet been absorbed.
'It would be better to tell the truth, it's good to know the limit of the allies, so it would be good for them to know about mine'
"It's not that easy, when a goblin die I can feel that part of my power come back to me, but at a very slow pace, I think that bringing them back from the dead shortens my mana limit, if I absorb them back I fully recover but if they just die, only my limit goes back to normal."
"I see, thanks for trusting in telling this to us. Now we wait until your mana is back to normal then?" Rudo asked.
"No, we would also have to wait to be dark again and until there, other people can come here and get our reward now that much of the work has already been done" I replied.
"But it would be impossible to extinguish all torches positioned in the camp during the fight" Claire spoke the obvious.
'I didn't think in that, we will not have the advantage of darkness in this battle and now the army is just a little big group. But if we don't go now and other people come I may end up having to hide my powers and stop feeding myself in an entire army'
"You don't need to, just do what you can and trust me" I spoke without knowing if we could really pull this off.
'I can't risk wasting so much energy!'
