--Gremory Point of View--
"Are you really sure about fighting the entire camp? We manage to kill most of them already but this time they are together, and we are outnumbered by a lot" Danton asked.
Our party now consisted of four undead goblins of rank E and six of rank D, one archer, one tank, and two rogues.
"Let's at least go to the camp, and then we decided" I replied to Danton.
Everyone nodded with the head.
"Just wait for a second guys" I spoke while realizing that I had forgotten the best part of the battle.
During all this time fighting I was with my shell open, but I manage to differentiate black energy and choose which flow to follow. So if I keep with focus, I could leave my shell open without absorbing everything.
So now was the time to absorb the goblins I left aside.
I start the process even without having a drop of hunger, and every dead goblin turns into dust in front of the party.
"You really need to do this with every creature we kill?" Claire asked with disgust in her eyes.
"I don't, but why not?" I replied and then an awkward silence began.
So I decided to break the silence focusing everyone on the mission.
"I think we better get going now"
The sun would be back in just a few hours, so we hurried there, once we were close enough, Rudo extinguished the torch he held and the group continued to follow me closely.
Was hard to keep track of the enemy with only the moon as light, so during the fights, Danton and Rudo were always following the undead goblins and using them as a shield, but now the party is much smaller to follow them all the times.
But that would not be a problem, as the camp was lit with torches placed in different positions and the sun was getting closer and closer, making our vision advantage null and void.
"I don't think I can do the same here as before Gremory" Claire spoke worriedly
'Analyzing the camp I realized that all the strong goblins had gone out hunting and that apparently only the smallest ones were left behind'
"You don't need to, I think this will be easier than I thought. Part of them are at sleep, and they don't have a single big goblin in the camp now" I spoke while pointing to the tents with the sleeping goblins.
With some minutes of scouting, we identified 89 goblins in the camp.
"He is right, this is our best chance. We must attack now!" Danton spoke hastily.
"Wait, we need to plan this first. Claire provides backup to everyone who is in need from afar, I am going to send the 6 big undead goblins with Rudo who will charge in the front of the camp, Danton same as before you take the left while I go right and the four small goblins just protect Claire" I talked about my plan and everyone agreed with it, on this last day everyone had gotten used to my suicide plans so nobody questioned.
"Let's attack then" Rudo spoke while running in front of everyone and the 6 undead goblins of rank D followed.
Once Rudo got in the front every goblin in the camp started to go towards him, Claire started to shoot from far away while Danton and I remained still close from the fight waiting for the best opportunity to flank them.
It didn't take long for the goblins to lose formation and then Danton and I attacked.
Three goblins were separated from everyone else and with three quick swings of my crooked staff, they fell on the ground dead, the burn from the shadow made the missing blade meaningless.
Then I feel one of my rank D goblins dying, I look back at Rudo and what I saw is piles of dead goblins crushed and hit by arrows, Danton also manages to get on the back of the goblins making a lot of damage in their lines.
'I think it is better to kill every goblin that tries to reach them, cutting their reinforcements'
One by one, every goblin that I found out of formation died quickly without offering much resistance, their numbers were decreasing quickly, and then I lost another two big undead goblins.
Yet, it was far too easy to be true.
Then, it happened.
Another goblin came out of a tent near me, but this one was different, he was four meters tall, had a light beard, and the muscles of a barbarian along with a claymore.
He didn't seem at all bothered or frightened to see his allies being slaughtered.
"HE MUST BE THE KING OF THIS REGION, GREMORY RUN AWAY"
A type King Goblin is a goblin that survives until the Shaman phase, but never loses his strength and never gets the ability to use mana. This type of goblin is rank B and can command armies of goblins much larger than just a few hundred.
'Now I know why the old man made me decorate all those bestiaries.'
I look at the line behind me and the number of goblins is much lower, so I order the 3 undead goblins of rank D to distract him while I try to find some opening to attack.
But as soon the big undead goblins get close enough of them, just with one attack they die.
Leaving me too close to the Goblin King, without mana and reinforcements.
'I have no other choise then'
I absorb back the black energy from the small goblins left to defend Claire and with my crooked staff, I launch a shadow impulse at him.
He managed to defend with the sword but part of the attack cut the arm around his sword, and then he gets angry launching himself in my direction.
I prepare to avoid using shadow evasion, but it was too quick. I put my crooked staff ahead but as soon his sword reaches the crooked staff, it slices it in half but not easily. Turning the sword 90° and then launching myself too far away until I hit a tree.
The feeling of blood in my mouth was bad, but I was lucky to be hit by the middle of the claymore.
And again the King Goblin launch himself towards my direction swing his claymore, I have no way to defend myself, so I only try to put the shadow in front of me in a desperate attempt to escape alive.
But this time, the scar on my hand starts to glow in a vivid red, I look at it and read.
