Chapter Start!
Lord Shiver starts to laugh.
"You, you think I'll let you live here just because you told me that?" Lord Shiver pulls his sword out and points it towards Liam.
"I have other information! Information that is useful to you! I know some events that will affect you greatly." Liam frantically shouts.
"Other information?" Lord Shiver asks.
"Yes. I know of your dealings in curses." Liam replies looking at the tip of the blade pointed at him. "I am also aware of your banquet coming up with the Diamond family. I'm sure you can't let them be disappointed in your presentation."
I don't want to die like this. Hopefully, Lord Shiver lets me live…
"Just how did you get this information?" Lord Shiver inquiries raising his brow.
Oh, I can't tell him that right off the bat. If I said the truth there's no telling what would happen. I have to make up something.
"Uhhh, well I… have a way of… umm... knowing those things… I guess…" Liam drags out his words.
"What an oblivious lie. You can't just know everything about something without a source. But then again it's not normal that somebody just possesses a body either. Hmmm…" Lord Shiver turns his head towards the floor seemingly considering something.
"What else do you know?" Lord Shiver looks back at Liam.
"I know that you are plotting something illegal in this country." Liam stares at the tip of the sword nervously.
I can't believe I just said that. Depending on his choice I will either die right this moment or be spared. Hopefully not the latter.
"You. How do you know that! Nevermind sparing you! I should kill you here and now!" Lord Shiver's blade grazes Liam's neck and a droplet of blood flows down.
So much for that. I'm gonna have to get this together and quick!
"I will tell you the truth!!!" Liam yells at the top of his lungs.
"You will?" The Lord's blade remains near Liam's neck.
"Yes, I will… Jeez, I didn't want to tell you this… here we go. You heard my name earlier, Leah Goldman, I was a person from another world. I was born in the USA. I lived there quietly. I used to read a story, it took place in this world. That's right, your world and its events were all a story to me. I saw everything you did in words and chapters." Liam explains.
"That's… more confusing than what I had originally thought. Yet it does explain why you know so much." The blade at Liam's neck returns to Lord Shiver's sheath.
"You may live here." Lord Shiver grabs a paper and pen and quickly begins writing.
"I can!? I really can!?" Liam says shocked.
"You may. Now, sign this paper. I want you to keep in mind never to speak of what you know about me. If you do, death is inevitable." The Lord passes the pen and paper to Liam.
"I understand." Liam signs as Leah Goldman.
I'm lucky the writing is in English. Wait, I just realized everything here is English, the language, the writing, the names, I did overlook that…
"Wait, I've been restricted from seeing others. Does this include the servants?" Liam asks.
"No, servants here can see you just so long as you act as Liam." Lord Shiver answers.
"I have also been restricted from wandering around. Sigh~" Liam looks upset.
"You may only roam your study, courtyard, and room." The Lord declares.
"Study? Wait, I have another question! No, just two more." Liam suddenly realizes.
"You talk far too informal, I'm going to have to teach you to fix that…" Lord Shiver looks stressed and his eyes look to his desk.
I have to ask about the orb. It might be risking it but I've got to get that issue cleared up.
"The orb, you have in my room, it's a cursed object correct? Just what is its role, I saw it glow before is that some type of monitoring?" Liam asks, hoping to get an answer.
"That… you noticed it was cursed. Hmm, you may be worth something since you saw those colors. The orb's function is to monitor you as you guessed, normal people can't see the colors changing when you exit and enter. It is supposed to be small enough that you would think nothing of it, but you're not Liam, he would overlook most items placed in his room." The Lord Answers.
"Well, thanks for the answer. I was concerned it was some sort of life-draining thing for a second." Liam begins to feel tired from standing.
"I believe you had another question?" Lord Shiver asks tiredly.
"Oh yeah. I would like to know if I can see the prince in a day. I swear I will not tell him anything. I just had asked him to meet and it would be very suspicious if I suddenly canceled on him." Liam looks hopefully at Lord Shiver.
"You can, but under butler View's watch." Lord Shiver's eyes stab Liam's.
"Ah yes, thank you!" Liam adverts his eyes and smiles brightly.
"Now get out of here. Go to your room and read the books I shall prepare for you." He gestures for Liam to leave.
"Alright." Liam opens the door and walks out and butler View follows as a guide.
Back in the bedroom now, Liam looks around.
"Where's Jasper?" Liam asks confused about where Jasper could be.
"Oh, that's right! He went to get some bandages on his own." Liam lies on the bed.
I almost didn't make it today. I took a ton of risks with my words. I think I better not say any more risky things like that for a while. For now, though I'm surviving.
Liam rolls over in the bed and looks to the door. He hears footsteps approaching. The footsteps stop and the doorknob turns open.
"Jasper! I was just thinking of you." Liam says in a happy tone.
"You were?" Jasper says confused.
"Yes, did you put on the bandages properly?" Liam asks Jasper looking at his arms.
"Of course I did, see master?" Jasper shows the wraps around his arms and legs.
"Then all is well." Liam leans back and his neck is in view.
"Master, what's that cut on your neck?" Jasper asks worriedly.
"Oh, this? Ahaha I fell on something and I can't remember what. It was on my way back from father's study." Liam tells Jasper.
That was a lie, that blade of Lord Shiver's is really sharp and painful, the cut stings still.
"Ah, master it needs to be cleaned and bandaged. I'll be back with some medical equipment, you stay here." Jasper says firmly.
Would it be too much if I asked him to get some books? Hopefully not. I think I better ask while I still have the chance.
"Then can you get me some books about mannerisms along the way? If it's too much to carry you don't need to." Liam asks Jasper.
"Um ok, I'll be back in a few minutes then." Jasper walks out of the room with a confused look on his face.
I have to wonder, is Jasper ok? He seems way too nice for a guy that lived as a slave. I mean he got beat by the triplets, and rescued by me… I mean it's not out of the ordinary to be nice to the person who saved you. Wait! How does Jasper know what kind of books to get if even goes? Can he even read? Oh no, what have I done? Jasper, I'm so sorry!
