Chapter 3 - To Diagon Alley

The summer sun shone brightly casting a pale golden hue on the surrounding. Looking up Noah's eyes shown with resolution 'from this day forth I shall strive to rise to the top'. Noah didn't know where his thoughts were coming from. From the time he learnt about magic it was like a strong fire lit up in his chest.

In the end he could only shrug it off as his excitement for magic. "Grab my hand quickly Mr Evan's we don't have all day." It was when his thoughts were going wild that Prof Mcgonagall's urgent but stern voice interrupted his musings.

Noah was confused at the notion of holding hands but he being a newcomer to the magical community didn't think much of it. He went ahead and caught her hand.

"Now it might be a little uncomfortable please bear with."

"what do you mean... "

his next words were lost as he experienced one of the fastest and convenient mode of travel of the magical community.

He suddenly felt all parts of his body compress, the air in his lungs seemed to have been forced out and his eyes felt like they were pushed back into their sockets. then as soon as it came everything seems to have gone back to normal.

When he got back his bearings, he wanted to protest, but then he observed that he appeared to be in a completely different place. He was dumbfounded and lost track of his previous thoughts.

Noah concluded that it was some form of teleportation spell. His first thought was to learn it. So he looked at Professor Mcgonagall expectantly.

"Professor can you..." Only to be once again interrupted by a stern look from his professor.

"Mr Evan's what you experienced just now is called apparition. And before you ask me, no, I will not teach you.....Not until your seventeen, then you will be able to sign up for your apparition test and don't try it on your own. It's can be very disastrous. There have been cases where a wizards body was found in pieces in different parts of the country, a result of flinching due to faulty apparition."

Thankfully noah wasn't a reckless fool so he didn't ask further. He mentally noted down to look into the theory of apparition and ask someone who wasn't a sticker to the rules to teach before he turned seventeen. Something told him that he would be in far more danger than flinching in the coming years.

But Noah just shrugged it off as his 'unreasonable' fear of the unknown magical world. Noah shifted his gaze to the front and saw a run down bar by the name Leaky Cauldron. The number of people around the area where minuscule considering that this was the very heart of London. But Noah hadn't realized it yet.

Seeing prof. Mcgonagall entering the shabby pub he followed after. Noah was greeted by a very shabby looking interior that reminded him of shady place seen in the movies.

prof. Mcgonagall headed straight for the counter where a bald pot bellied old man sat. He got up with a small smile as soon as he saw us and tried to engaging in small talk

"a first year I see. Miss Mcgonagall would you like some fire whisky to freshen up your day."

"Maybe later Mr Thomas. I have a very busy schedule today that I would like to wrap up. If you will excuse me." Professor Mcgonagall replied with a stern and no nonsense voice.

Both of the went behind the counter where Noah expected to meet something magical. He had noticed that the bartender, Tom or whatever his name was seemed to knock about Hogwarts. He realised that he just met another wizard like himself. What he didn't know is that all the people he saw in the pub were magical folk.

Although many of them wore clothes similar to Professor Mcgonagall they just didn't match the mental picture he had drawn of a wizards and witches. He had thought them to be very mysterious, living in magical places and the likes.

He was broken out of his musings by an abrupt halt. He was pulled back by prof Mcgonagall's hand. All he could see was a brick wall in front of him. He would have hit his head hard if not for her intervention. " Mr Evan's it work do good for you to look where you going." Professor Mcgonagall said in a very displeased tone.

"I am sorry Professor, I was lost in thought for a moment. thank you for helping me out." Noah was embarrassed and said in a meek tone. He wanted to make a good impression on his Professor after all.

She was satisfied with this so didn't continue on the topic. Noah let out a sigh of relief. Although she looked old no child would want to get on her bad side. She gave an impression that she was very strict and wouldn't let you Scot free for the smallest of mistakes.

Professor Mcgonagall then took out the strange stick she used to turn the sofa into a cat which he assumed was a wand that was mentioned in the list of supplies. She swiped it in a certain pattern over the brick wall. Then to his surprise the wall parted and made an opening that lead to a street.

Noah marvelled at that. Professor Mcgonagall walked in and he hurried to follow behind her not wanting to be reprimanded again. He was met with a street filled with an assortment of shops of various kinds
