Erin's POV
" Who do we have here ? " A high pitched voice pierced my ears. I rolled my eyes in annoyance. With an indifferent expression on my face , I shut my locker close and turned to face Nicole. Right. She came with her minions.
" Oh great . It's Queen Dumb and her dumber subordinates " I replied in a bored tone.
The look on her face was priceless. Honestly I didn't get why Nicole derived joy in picking on me . I don't remember ever sharing more than a few words with her . Yet, she made me her target.
"How dare you !? " she raised her hand to smack me . I caught it midway.
"Don't you ever learn ? Haven't I warned you about what's going to happen if you ever raised your hand on me the second time ? huh ? " I increased the pressure on her arm . Her face contorted in pain. Was she for real ? I wasn't even pressing that hard. Behind her , Tori and Maya ,her minions slowly backed away.
I scoffed .
How on earth did these weak girls think they could pick on me ?
I wasn't a weak person and I wasn't that strong either . I just wasn't a pushover. Sometimes I preferred to be silent because I believed that silence was the best answer to a fool but I guess these girls mistook my silence for weakness. There only time I spared Nicole some minutes of my time, I did for my own entertainment. Because I found out that exchanging words with her was just too entertaining. Her comebacks were as lame as the clique she had formed in this school.
Luckily for her , the bell rang. Believe me , I was not a violent person but sometimes, I just had to be a little crazy.
" Wish I could continue this but you know , lessons are about to start.
Not that you'd know the importance of lessons or anything but even you can understand that I have to go "
I let her go and she dramatically stumbled back . Okay I admit, I wasn't that gentle in letting her arm go.
"Ciao" with a small wave and a mocking smile, I left Nicole open mouthed and clutching her arm with her minions nowhere in sight in the hallway.
At first, I thought she picked on me because I was one of the people who didn't fawn over her like the other girls but later on I realized it was all because of Maddox. She was among the people that thought that Maddox and I had something else going on between us. Well whatever ,the day was still too young to burden myself with the thoughts of Nicole.
With hurried steps , I walked to my first lesson if the day ; Spanish.
The rest of the day passed in a blur and soon enough, school closed.
I met Alley outside the cafeteria and we headed off to the field . The boys were training today.
I spotted them the moment we sat on the bleachers. We were familiar with their training routine due to the fact that some time in the past we used to come to the field all the time whenever the boys had training and because of that ,they turned us into their water girls . We never minded though . Being water girls meant we had the best seat whenever they had a home game.
I caught Alley staring at Cole . He was all sweaty as he run laps. Was that longing I saw in her eyes ?
What was stopping them from being together ? As far as I knew, Alley was single and had been for a long time and even though Cole was a huge flirt ,he was single too. Their attraction towards each other was glaringly obvious.
I promised myself not to meddle but it seemed I'd have to play Cupid because I'd been shipping them for so long and I couldn't wait any longer for them to be together. But for now , I was going to give them a some more time and if they still didn't confess their feelings ,then Cupid Erin would have to step in .
Averting my gaze , I spotted Jake and Maddox. They were both doing some stretches . I saw Jake smirking at me from the corner of my eye as I watched Maddox keenly like my favorite show. I stuck my tongue out at him. Don't blame me ,I just couldn't take my eyes off him and I didn't even know why . It was starting to become a disturbing habit of mine. He was so into his training that he hadn't noticed me staring meaning I could continue my newly developed habit .
Three hours later , the boys were freshly showered and we were having dinner in a local dinner we frequented . They served the best food and it was one of our favourite places to hangout. I ordered their special carbonara ,while Jake and Maddox ordered greasy cheeses burgers and fries. Alley as always took time to decide what she wanted to eat but finally settled on some spaghetti Bolognese. Cole choose a pepperoni pizza and some coke.
An hour went by with us filling our bellies with delicious food and laughing at corny jokes. A little later, we paid the bill and headed out. I was the first person to be dropped home since we were a few blocks away from my neighbourhood.
Getting out of Jake's car, I said my goodbyes and walked with Maddox to my doorstep. It was something that he always did.
I hugged him while he placed a kiss on my forehead. We stood there for some time before letting go of each other .
"Goodnight Rin"
"Night " I responded . He watched me unlock the doors and reminded me to lock them before walking to the car. Their next stop was Alley's. Then Maddox's . Cole and Jake were next door neighbours.
As I laid on my bed that night ,I wondered what was happening between Maddox and I.
I had caught him staring at me so many times with some strange look in his eyes .
What was going on ?
