Chapter 1 - Zahanna: The Return

Two centuries have passed since Liana Davine became a Master of Hell. Now, the world is in turmoil and her help is needed once more.

Mages had integrated into the mainland and become trusted advisors to various kings and queens. But now, Pteleria has declared war on Salencia, causing a world wide war when alliances were called upon.

The mages had tried desperately to calm down the tensions, but their efforts had resulted in nothing.

Now, the current Queen of Salencia had been driven into a corner without any options left, save for one.

"I summon to this land a Master of Hell upon the ancient utilization agreement between the Davine bloodline and the Masters."

~~~
Down in Hell, the Masters heard the Queen's frantic plea. High Lady Friste turned to Princess Zahanna.
"I think it's time to serve your bloodline."
"Of course, my Lady. I'll leave right now."
Black smoke swirled around Zahanna and in the next second, she was gone. She reappeared in the throne room of the golden palace of Salenica. Zahanna looked up and saw a new queen sitting on the throne.
"You called?"
The Queen nodded. "I am Queen Milah, and I need your help. This world is in turmoil."
"I, Princess Zahanna, Mistress of Hell, am at your service. Whatever you ask of me, I shall provide as well as I can."
"Thank you. Come, I'd like to talk in a more private setting."
"Of course."
She followed the Queen into the royal study. The moment she entered, memories flooded her mind, bubbling back up after years of forgetting.
"May I ask something?"
"Sure," Queen Milah said.
"How much do you know of your ancestry?"
"How do you mean?"
"The family log book. Is it still in use?"
The Queen's eyes widened. "How do you know about the log book?"
Black colored smoke began to swirl around Zahanna. It snaked up from her feet to her head, and when it dissipated, she revealed her original self.
"I was once Princess Liliana Davine of Salencia. I was wondering if you were Harmon or Vander's descendant."
"King Harmon was my late husband's great, great, great grandfather."
Sadness clouded over Zahanna's eyes.
"King," she murmured. "I hope he was a good one."
"One of the best, according to the history books."
Zahanna smiled and changed back to her real form.
"He was a good person. I'm happy to know he was also a good king."
Queen Milah smiled and filled Zahanna in on everything. When she was done, a curious look crossed Zahanna's face. Then, she frowned, deeply.
"Hmm, well, it seems Pteleria wants to get wiped out."
"No!" Queen Milah cried. "Please, I only called for you because I have no other allies. Salencia has exhausted our resources and the morale in our soldiers is low. We need help from a powerful being. We need you."
Zahanna chuckled, "I can see why you're Queen. You're very convincing."
She paused. "Let me ask you this. Have you heard of the Mage Queen?"
Queen Milah nodded. "She was the most powerful mage a long time ago."
Zahanna smirked and said slyly, "She... was me."
The Queen's eyes widened.
"What?"
"Yes. I had died saving my twin brother Vander from a fatal wound. Being the terrible person that I was, I went to Hell. I was there for two years, but there it was two millennia. Then, I came back here and made a huge mess of things. Eventually I went back to Hell and became a Master," Zahanna took a deep breath. "So there's my life story. Now, what do you need me to do to help end this war?"
"Umm, well-"
Then, the study door burst open.
"Mother, I've just come back from the border! Our men are getting slaughtered! I-"
He suddenly stopped when he saw Zahanna.
"Wait... who's this?"
Zahanna turned around to face the Crown Prince who was staring at her in shock.
"Princess Zahanna, Mistress of Hell."
His mother explained, "I called upon the Masters, Troy. I'm sorry, but I saw no other way. She's returned to this world to help us."
"We don't need the Masters of Hell to help us! You've just damned our whole family by doing this!"
"No, actually, she hasn't," Zahanna cut in. "Two centuries ago, Duchess Kupris offered the utilization agreement in exchange for my powerful Willow blood."
His eyes widened as he gasped, "You, You're the Davine Master?!"
Zahanna smiled at him. "Yes, I am."
