Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Figuring Out

"Hey mom." Fejiro said a bit fearful.

"Don't you 'hey mom' me." She snapped in anger.

After getting home, Fejiro got an earful. His mom was really worried afraid something might have happened to him.

Seeing all was well, she let him go after examining his body to check for injuries only to find a well toned and built body which left her confused, but she seemed to not have noticed the chipped crystal around his neck.

Going up to his room he could feel that something was different about him. Not just his body but also the energy within himself.

Once dinner was had and darkness feel, Fejiro snuck out of the window of his room and moved towards the shore.

Fire City was located at the southern part of the realm, beyond which was the boundless sea.

Moving along the beach he walked up to a cliff at the far end. No one visited here since it was too far from the city and such it was deserted.

When he got to the base of the cliff, a cave could be see partially covered by vines. Only those with keen sight would be able to notice it.

Fejiro had found this place years ago when he was just still a little boy and he knew what it was. It was an old stone mine used during the war. It has long since been abandoned and cleared out of any if not all energy stones, not that he had the strength to explore it to begin with.

After entering the mine, he walked down a little bit and got to a point in the cave that had a large boulder. Jumping up, he climbed the large rock and sat on it cross-legged.

"Now let's see what we've got, shall we?" Fejiro said to no one in particular.

He then proceeded to close his eyes and tried to 'see' what was inside him and what he saw greatly surprised him.

By concentrating intensely, he was able to 'see' what was within him.

Going through his skin, he could see a raging red energy filling his body and also numerous 'vessels' through which this energy moves round the body.

This was the energy that had appeared during his awakening. It was wild and violent almost wishing to be set free to destroy and consume all around it.

It took all of his will power and concentration not to listen to it.

Even though this energy was uncontrollable and caused Fejiro great fear, he could feel that there was something else that was keeping this energy under control.

Concentrating even harder, he could see what looked like tiny roots in the red energy. They were numerous and spread throughout his body and they glowed with a yellow light.

Following the roots back to the source. He arrived at his heart and could see a yellow glow in it. It was faint but he could see it. Even though it was small, he could tell it packed more energy than the enterity of the red energy.

Fejiro then proceeded to do a couple of tests on these energies and discovered a few things. First, the red energy not only gave power but it also entered his cells and modified and strengthen it at a slow rate. He could speed up the process but it consumed a lot of red energy and hurt like heck.

Also he discovered that when he used up the red energy, a piece of the yellow one would break apart turning into the red one to replace it. But this led to another problem, what would happen when the yellow energy ran out. He had to think of a way to get more.

He tried to get more from the energy stone but it didn't work. At the energy of the day he had to give up and he also changed the names to red ki and yellow ki.

Once finished, he opened his eyes and looked around, only about an hour had passed. He got off the rock and looked towards the deeper part of the cave before moving there.

After walking for a while, he arrived at a pit so deep one couldn't see it's bottom. After the pit the path continued, if he wanted to search for any remaining energy stones, he would need to cross the pit first.

'If only I could fly.' Fejiro thought before walking away.

Leaving the cave, he walked back home and snuck back into his room. Fejiro rested on the bed and slept off, tomorrow was going to be a rough day.
