Chapter 18 - MYS 18 Vacation

MYS 18

...

The two-day break from playing badminton after yesterday's competition seemed to me like a surprise. I was finally able to relax my muscles and joints that had been crushed by yesterday's race. And sleeping all day in my room is the highlight.

However, my plan to sleep beautifully until the afternoon with sweet dreams in the rainbow garden has disappeared. Annalia, for no reason without news, was standing on the edge of the bed with her hands on her hips like a fierce stepmother.

"Come on, you dirty girl. Get up, wash your face, brush your teeth and change clothes." Ana's orders without asking are refused.

"Where's the heat like this?" I was scolded by squinting because of the glare of the sun from the window that was forced open by the stepmother.

"Come with me."

"I don't want to. If I'm told to jump into a well, I don't want to."

"You think so. It's really bad. To the lagoon, let's hurry."

Laguna, Lembupurwo beach, just thirty minutes from Prembun with Annalia's automatic motorbike speed. Maybe an hour if I have to ride a bicycle.

"Why only here? So close." I protested when I arrived at the parking lot.

"So are you going to Menganti or Logending? So you can drool on my new jacket?" said Ana did not accept by shaking the shoulder of the jacket. Show off.

"So you brought me here just to show off a new jacket?" oh my again can't understand. "Just watch out if it's true. I'd better go home." I added.

"No, no. Come on, I've been waiting for this." Ana said then dragged my hand forcibly.

Before I had time to ask who was waiting, I saw the kibul trio enjoying themselves in front of an outdoor grill.

"The question is, why do you have to go all the way to the beach just to roast shrimp and squid?" I roared in frustration. My naps have been forcibly taken away by these four thugs just for a super unimportant event, a barbecue.

️"Angry Anggi?" asked Jono approaching.

"You think to yourself." I'm still annoyed.

"You can't do that again, it's a birthday."

"Who? Lo? Ebi or Edi?"

"Anggi Sekar Arum."

"Huh? My birthday is over too. The surprise has expired." I'm annoyed. It's been a week since August 17th.

"It's okay to be a little late. Yesterday you were busy competing." Jono explained, giving a reason.

Jono got up from beside me sitting, took something near the grill. Birthday cake with number 16 candles, it's normal this is the only time a friend has bothered to prepare a birthday cake for me.

I was touched, but not to the point of crying either.

The children sang the birthday song in unison and asked me to blow out the candles, which I refused to make Ana upset and then blew them because I couldn't stand the tantalizing cake. I shudder. Dark chocolate cake without whipped cream decoration makes me look much more elegant. My first birthday cake for 16 years.

"Ann, please wait. I'll take a photo first for memory." stop me while taking out my cellphone from my pants pocket. Photographed several times from different angles.

"Already?" It was Ebi's turn, who rarely spoke, to interrupt the action of my amateur photographer.

"That's it. Please send it." I said, still glued to the photos I took on the cellphone screen. I don't know if it's because of the good camera or because of my prowess in taking pictures to produce a photo of an incredibly beautiful cake. I think of course.

Until a hand reached out, thrusting a fork containing a piece of cake into my mouth which I grabbed it reflexively. Chew slowly, enjoying every second of the sensation of sweet chocolate mixed with a bitter taste. Then swallowed quickly when he realized it wasn't Ana who had fed him.

"Again?" Jono asked looking at me like he was looking at a hungry child. That flawless smile almost forced me to spit out the cake I just swallowed.

"Thanks, Jon. But that's enough. I don't really like chocolate." even though I lied. It's just a shame if I go crazy eating that extraordinarily delicious cake that is being fought over by three barbarians in front of me.

"Shall I buy it again?"

"Don't bother like an old man."

"After all... you are very similar in behavior to Jerome, my younger brother."

"Why don't you live with your sister?"

"Long story. What is clear, Jerome needs more attention than me." John's story is short. I understand a little. It's a little similar to Anggoro, my spoiled little brother at the level of the square to the power of ten.

"I also have another super spoiled sister. So I understand a little." I added.

"At least you are still one country. Unlike me, which is separated by continents and oceans. Only video call communication." added Jono with a sad gaze far into the sky.

I can tell that Jono is lonely. Away from the family he loves. Only accompanied by two cousins with different personalities is certainly not easy. In addition, the new regional culture such as Prembun also forced Jono to adapt.

Instead of being lost in the atmosphere of longing for distant relatives. I took the initiative to stand up. And move towards the grill where some of the meat had been skewered in such away. And ready to be executed. Because I don't know how to turn on the grill? So I choose to continue the art of assembling various meats and seafood.

Finally, Ana da Ebi caught up with me after losing the competition to Edi to win the last piece of cake. They pray busy babbling in a language that I do not understand.

"Ore wa$$#$$$$?! €%#@ & $$$$$!? $$$$$...." Ana squeaked in an annoyed tone.

"Ie, it's said that wat $#@&£€¥₩!? & /$#@ ???? !! $$$$$..." said Ebi, which I could catch as Japanese. I've heard that dialogue from an anime that I accidentally watched with Ana in my spare time.

The longer I listen to the conversation of the two boys, it only makes my head spin, I don't understand the Japanese dialect they use so it looks more like the alien language in the phenomenal Indian film.

I became interested in a packet of french fries and teriyaki sauce on the side. I taste it delicious. So I decided to spend it with a language background somewhere beside me. Enjoy the moment with three children of different rare species on a beach on the southern coast of the island of Java. A moment that I will not get at my birthday celebration but has turned into an arena for fighting for food a la primitive people.

After all, we are still teenagers, 16 years old. This kind of behavior is still in the normal category in my experience vocabulary dictionary. At least only until a debate to decide who deserves the last piece or who has the misfortune to clean up the dirty cooking utensils, put them in the trunk of Jono's Fortuner.
