As I wait for her with the hope that she will change her mind and open the door, I rehearse possible words to say to her. I knew that I needed her to change her mind to help me, that way I would be able to adjust completely to human activities. After waiting to no avail, I decided to return to my room.
Melvin stares at me when I walk in but I ignore him.
"Orion?" he coos. I say nothing to him and head to my bed. "I am talking to you" he yells slightly.
"You won't want Elora bringing this door down just to find out who had spoken"
"Then speak to me if you do not want me to keep yelling". I roll my eyes and lie down on the bed. "Orion!"
I groan and sit up. "What?!"
"Are you not supposed to tell me what Elora said?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Because it was my idea"
I scoff slightly. "Maybe you should go and ask her"
"Don't tell me that you did not succeed in making her change her mind" he says and I groan.
"Why should I make her change her mind?"
"Because you need that more than anyone"
"I do not need her"
"But you need her service"
"Look, Melvin, I can always get someone else to help me. I am sure Ari will be willing to help. She is getting a break soon and she will help me out"
He sighs. "Elora is the best one for you"
"Best? She isn't"
"Ori, I do not know why but I can feel that she is the right person for you"
I roll my eyes and lie down. "Can I get a good sleep now?"
He scoffs. "Like I can make you change your mind"
**
"You should go and speak to Elora," Melvin says and I groan.
He has been telling me to speak to Elora for days now which I have tried three times already; though I did not tell him that and I got the same negative answer. She will not even give me a chance to speak before she walks out on me.
"How many times are we going to talk about this? I am not going back to meet her"
"You have to" he insists.
"Melvin, I will not"
"Why can't you understand what I am trying to do here?"
"There is nothing to understand. Elora doesn't want to help. I should not force her. You know the kind of person she is"
"I also know the kind of person you are"
I scoff and stand up. "I am taking a stroll and I hope when I get back you will not talk about this"
"I will for as long as you refuse to speak to Elora"
I ignore him, leaving the room and also the house. As I walk through the street, most of the ladies I meet on the way, wink at me, while some try to flirt with me.
"I have a girlfriend and she is really, crazy," I say to them. "If she sees you with me, she will teach you some lessons"
Most of the girls walk away when I say this but a particular lady did not leave as she keeps trying to flirt with me.
"You do not look like someone with a girlfriend," she says.
"Do I not?". She nods. "Well, I do, and like I said she is very crazy"
"I do not think you do. I am Hannah, by the way"
I nod. "That's a nice name"
"Are you not going to tell me your... "
A car stops beside me, horning. I turn quickly as the front door glass rolls down.
"Ari?" I call.
"Is that your girlfriend?" Hannah asks but I ignore her.
"Ori" Ari coos. "Are you on a stroll?"
I nod. "Yeah"
"And who is this beautiful girl beside you?"
"I am his friend" Hannah replies quickly and Ari stares at me.
I shake my head negatively. "No, she is not" I mutter quietly hoping that she reads my lips and understands what I say.
She smiles. "I get that. I am Ariana by the way"
"Hannah" Hannah replies.
"Orion and I stay at that apartment over there. You can visit anytime you want" Ari says and I blink.
Why would she invite Hannah over?
"You stay together?" Hannah asks.
"Yes, is there a problem with that?"
"No, there isn't. I am just surprised. You must be his girlfriend"
Ari smiles. "No, I am not"
Hannah breathes a sigh of relief. "I thought you were. Though you do not fit the description he gave"
Ari furrows her brows. "What description?"
"A crazy girlfriend who will teach me a lesson when she sees me"
Ari busts into laughter. "I think I know who he is referring to and trust me, she is crazy"
Hannah widens her eyes. "He does have a girlfriend?"
She nods. "Yes and if you do not believe me, you can visit our apartment"
Hannah's eyes widen. "I can?"
Ari nods. "Yes, you can. Can I take Orion with me now?"
Hannah nods. "Yes, you can. I will visit by next weekend. Hope you don't mind?"
Ari nods. "I do not. Luckily for you, I will be on a break"
Hannah smiles. "That's good"
"Yeah, it is. See you around"
I enter Ari's car and she drives off.
"What is that about?" I ask.
"What is it about?" Ari asks.
"Why would you invite Hannah over?"
"To meet Elora. She wants to meet your crazy girlfriend and Elora is"
I groan. "Elora is not my girlfriend. Why would you invite Hannah"
"Elora doesn't have to be your girlfriend. Trust me she will do more than you expect"
I groan. "That is exactly what I do not want. I do not want Elora causing trouble in Hannah's presence"
"Do you like Hannah?" Ari asks.
"I do not"
"It seems you do"
I roll my eyes. "I do not"
"I think you do"
I scoff but say nothing. There is no way I like Hannah though she is better than Elora in so many ways.
