They had been talking for several hours when Narcissa finally asked the question that had been nagging at her mind ever since she had received that letter all those weeks ago.
Taking a sip of the Earl Grey she looked up and gazed into the Black heiress's mismatched eyes, "There's something I have wanted to ask you for a long time." Taking a deep breath she continued, "If you don't mind, could you tell me who your parents were?"
Lady Black's eyebrows shot into the air, and a smile spread across her pale face, "I was raised by uncle Cygnus my entire life, so I never met my parents but he told me what they were called.
Their names were Anya Borisyuk and Regulus Balck."
This time it was Narcissa's turn to look surprised, "I didn't know Regulus had a child?"
Setting down her cup Lady Black gazed into the misty liquid, "Yes, from what I have heard of him he didn't seem the type."
Taking the napkin to her side in one hand she dabbed her lips and smiled at Narcissa, "Lady Malfoy, would you like to take a walk around the garden with me?"
Placing down her cup Narcissa smiled back, "I would be delighted."
Looking over at Draco, she motioned for him to come closer.
Standing up Draco proudly walked over to his mother, who then leaned closer to his ear and whispered, "Draco, ask if you could escort her!"
Nodding firmly, the five-year-old walked over to Lady Black and bowed, "Lady Black would you," he paused to think, "Would you give me the honour of escorting you?"
Lady Black smiled, "Thank you, you are most kind." She then stood up and straightened her red dress.
Extending his hand he presented it to her, Lady Black smiled, graciously, and took it delicately.
As the two children walked away Narcissa followed close behind, the three didn't speak a word until they entered the garden.
"Lady Black," Narcissa spoke, kindly, "I must say, your garden is quite lovely."
Turning her head slightly the young heiress looked back at her, "Well thank you, but from what I've heard the one at Malfoy manor is a thousand times more beautiful."
Narcissa waved her hand dismissively, "An exaggeration, people like to gossip, carefree and frivolous as they are."
Lady Black smiled sweetly, "I'll take your word for it."
She then turned back to Draco and engaged him in conversation, "So, do you like Quidditch?"
The heir to house Malfoy nodded eagerly, "I love it!"
Lady Black giggled cutely, "What's your favourite team?"
A broad grin showed itself on Draco's face, "The Falmouth Falcons!"
Narcissa sighed, she had always disapproved of Draco's favourite team.
The Falmouth Falcons, they were a violent and aggressive team, situated in the southwest of England.
From what she had heard their Beaters have been suspended a total of fourteen times for excessive rulebreaking.
"Mine's the Holyhead Harpies!" Lady Black said enthusiastically.
Both of the children now had bright smiles plastered on their faces.
Narcissa chuckled, "You really are perfect aren't you Lady Black."
The girl turned to face Narcissa, she had noticed the sly undertone, a sweet smile appeared on the girl's face almost instantly, "Well thank you but I am by no means as fantastic as you seem to think I am."
Narcissa laughed the back of a gloved hand to her mouth, "And so modest, you really are the perfect Lady."
The girl giggled, and turned back to Draco, "Shall we start heading back?"
He nodded stiffly and taking the boy's hand Lady Black walked away.
They soon stepped back onto the terrace, on which the maid stood waiting.
Narcissa still couldn't get used to having a human serving her tee and cake.
"My Lady, I've brought you some new tea." the maid said bowing.
Inclining her head Lady Balck smiled at her d$servant, "Thank you Victoria."
The maid then departed through the great glass door that led into the ballroom.
Sitting down at the table, they all were about to take a sip of Tee when a staring gust of wind blew.
Tucking her blonde hair behind her ear Narcissa looked around and noticed that Lady Black's long blood-red hair was waving in the wind similar to the leaves in autumn.
Catching it, the young girl tucked it behind her ear similar to how Narcissa had done it.
Looking to the west Narcissa saw as the sun slowly approached the horizon, "Good grief, look at the time."
Lady Black did the same and her mismatched eyes widened, "Truly, time passes faster when you're with family."
Narcissa, nodded sagely, "A wise saying."
She then smiled, "I am sorry but we must go, my husband awaits."
They both stood up with Draco doing so quickly after.
"I'll escort you to the entrance." Lady Black said courteously, a friendly smile dancing across her lips.
The two children talked all the way through the ballroom and across the entrance hall till they reached the front doors.
"I hope we can meet again soon." Lady Black said as the maid opened the doors for them.
Narcissa curtsied a smile on her face, "I do too, Lady Black."
She then grabbed Draco's hand and strode out of the manor, Lady Black still waving after them, her maid by her side.
