Serenica was always put off by people suggesting her background had no class. There was something very backhanded about Kinley's compliments. The healer did not want to encourage such notions, but she was the underdog here, and that was how she was to play her cards.
"If you really want to know what I am all about, you should see me working," Serenica said solemnly. "I can't imagine anything I would be better at."
Kinley smiled. It was horrible to see her smile. A happy Kinley meant bad things.
"I can arrange that for you. There will be need for doctors once I am done with your crowd."
"Wait!" Serenica yelled just as the woman was about to get up. "I will do anything, I'll work for you, just spare their lives and I'll do it!"
She didn't really know if she was serious or not. She was able to summon enough courage to lie about it, at least, and she was determined to stab Kinley in the back when given an opportunity.
