Chapter 273 - The Dead

Something swam in the darkness that had once been Serenica's view from her right eye.

Her heart jumped up her throat.

She was not supposed to see things like that, all of a sudden, without even attempting to scry.

As she focused her attention on the reddish streak in the black abyss, she realized that it had some kind of a sentient nature, or then it was imitating her thoughts.

The more afraid she was, the closer the red streak came to her. When she forced her mind to be stern, she could also force the red color to get away from her, to shrink and fade.

She was way too afraid to keep up a wall of courage.

The red streak was jumpy, threatening, it always came back stronger.

Serenica was beginning to understand the occult philosophy about the friendly nature of darkness. This red color radiated hostility.

What was even worse than being threatened by a color was that soon it turned maroon.

Serenica yelled.
