Chapter 131 - Not Safe

Serenica didn't know how long she had been wandering around, stopping only if she saw a chance to save lives, limbs or both. She didn't know how she had found the strength to carry on after seeing so much loss. The mental images of bruises, broken bones and maimed bodies were flashing before her eyes. She remembered one case in particular; a man who had looked a lot like her own uncle had received a deep wound from a sharp piece of wood that had fallen onto him. His bowels had been mostly outside his body, a sickly mass of grayish slime and blood bulging out of the body that could not have held onto life much longer.

She remembered the eyes of the victim as he had wordlessly asked her to release him from all suffering.

Her pistol still felt hot against her thigh.

When she arrived to her destination that had been hidden even from her own thoughts, she scaled the Ruby Hills up and down, stroking Norra gently with her free hand.
