CHAPTER START---

Walking through the halls of the 17th floor, Yang can be seen accompanied by Thalie. The older woman twirling an ornate gold dagger between her fingers as they casually stroll in the dungeon.

"Less than 3 minutes, honest. You can ask the witnesses if you'd like" Yang says, raising his hands in surrender.

"Huh, honestly thought those were just inflated rumors, you really pummeled the goliath like that huh, well I'll just have to beat that time. Can't have a rookie outshining me on my own team hahaha" The woman jokes as she gives him a light shove. "2 Minutes then, that's how long I'll take. You just stand there and watch me,"

"Hmm, alright I will, but hey if you ever wanna admit defeat and have me help you I'll be right there," he replies.

"HA! As if I'd ever struggle with the first dungeon boss, I'm an assassin remember. Damage is kinda my specialty," She proudly says.

As they approach the boss room, both adventures fall into a comfortable silence while calmly rounding the corner. As they break the corner, standing in the middle of the room a massive humanoid figure can be seen. Grey skin and white hair pronounced on the body of the monster. The upper floors monster rex awaits a challenger.

Walking into the room, Thalie draws her second dagger while Yang simply leans against the wall at the entrance.

"Alright, you're up," he says, a clear undertone of challenge in his voice.

"Yeah yeah, just watch rookie."

Brandishing both her daggers, Thalie moves into a low crouch before silently transitioning into a runner's stance.

'What the hell?' Yang thinks as he looks between his partner and the monsters. The goliath has yet to look away from the entrance to the 18th floor, with its back facing them it's clear even to him that Thalie intends to make the first move.

*CRACK*

Looking at the source of the very small sounds, at the base of Thalie's knuckles where the stone meets her fists, the floor is being pushed apart by the force she is exerting. Her grip tightening that much more on her daggers in her fists. Her toes sinking into the stone floor.

'What the fu--'

*BOOM!*

His thought is cut off as she rockets forward from her stationary position toward the enemy. Faster than his eyes can track, the sound barrier shattering in her wake. With every step the stone floor cracks and breaks apart under her feet as she approaches her target.

As the monster, no, her victim turns around after hearing the loud noise. It's already too late. With one blinding motion she decapitated the monster with one dagger while shattering the crystal with the other.

*BANG!*

She crashes into the far wall of the room, a broad smile on her face as her back is almost an inch into the wall.

Using his flames Yang quickly flies over to her, soaring past the remains of the monster and quickly landing by his partner as she pulls herself out of the wall.

"What the hell was that?!" He frantically asks, clearly shocked by the display.

"What, you think you're the only one with cool abilities?" the woman asks as she saunters toward the monster crystal.

"I know I'm not, but what was all that. You barely took a minute to prepare before you one-shot it"

"It's my unique skill, CHARGE. Basically, I can pour magic into my body between strikes to amplify them, it's exhausting and causes me to slow down a lot so pretty useless mid-combat. But my assassin skill UNSEEN STRIKE makes surprise attacks do a lot more damage to my targets. So in moments like this, I'm pretty much unstoppable."

"Damn, so that's what makes you such a good assassin?"

"Nope, I'm good because I'm smart, by the way. You owe me a meal since I did just beat your time"

"Heh, for seeing you one-shot the goliath, worth it. Why didn't Hephaestus have you down here exactly?"

"My talents are better used to find things that don't want to be found on the surface, you know, dealing with people and all that," She says with a small grin.

"Uh-huh, I'll remember that, anyway let's head to the next stop," Yang says while storing the goliath crystal in his inventory.

---Tower of Babel...

Sitting on her fine couch, Freya flips through page after page of information as she plans her new course.

'We spend more time traveling to our current front lines than actually advancing, ooh, he's back on the move today, well it's about time little Elementalist got out of his funk.'

"Ottar, time for the next step, he's in the spotlight so now let's burn him with it, then he'll come to join me himself. Spread the word, time for operation Isolation."

"Yes Goddess," Ottar obediently says before leaving the room.

'Weaklings can't ever understand you boy, you'll see that in time, but how long will you take,' the goddess ponders as she sips her wine.

---Dungeon Floor 26...

Sitting at the edge of a cliff beside the massive waterfall, Yang has one large over the edge as he looks back at his new teammate.

"You know, it's safe as long as I'm here, the view is pretty epic," He jokes at Thalie.

"Uh huh, falling off a cliff into the 27th floor isn't how I wanna die, and no offense but I don't exactly have much faith in someone I've barely seen in action to catch me," She retorts.

"Yeah that's fair, oh.... I see it," He says while looking over the edge of the cliff.

"IT?"

"Amphisbaena, time for the rematch, you good up here?" He asks, not taking his eyes off the figure of the dragon minding its own business in the pool below.

"Uh-huh, you really think this is a good idea kid, I mean, at least let me get down so I can get you out if shit goes sideways,"

"Mmm, Nah it's ok. The last time I fought it, I was pretty dumb. Trying to crack it with enhanced punches. But now that I got my memories back, I've got a pretty good game plan, not to mention I'm stronger now too," he says while rising to his feet.

"Yeah well I'll rush down there anyway, hopefully, your more talented than you are cocky," she says while looking toward the tunnel down to the 27th floor.

"Nah, I got this," Yang says while activating his mage armor.

As his armor flares, the heat by sheer proximity washes over Thalie, the water around them begins to slowly evaporate causing steam to begin rising.

'Let's do this, start with one big hit then keep it guessing'

As Yang steadies himself, he takes one deep breath and focuses magic into his fist, the mage armor flares once more, changing colors as it flickers from yellow to orange to green to blue, and finally, the strongest blaze to life on his right fist. A white-hot sunspot forming where his fist used to be as he takes a minute to concentrate.

"Alright, cover your eyes," He casually jokes before taking a step off the edge of the cliff.

With her curiosity piqued, Thalie walks over to the edge of the cliff and lays flat on her stomach as she looks over the edge, gripping onto the rocky floor for dear life.

As the blinding light, as if a small sun was suddenly cast into the dungeon begins to descend to the 27th floor, Amphisbaena quickly cranes both its necks upward, just in time to see a flash of light as Yang descends onto its back.

*BOOM*

A wave of heat and steam is sent outward, the nearby shore is completely incinerated as ripples of heat wash over everything.

"RARGH!" the monster roars out as the force pins it to the floor of the shallows for a moment.

As it whips its long necks around to clear the steam, by the time the view is clear, a superheated, cracked piece of its hide is visibly weakened on its back.

Looking around and listening for the challenger, the monster finds nothing, the scent of brimstone in the air bombards its senses and makes it impossible to find anything else.

'Step one done, make an opening, now to keep it off balance,' Yang thinks to himself as he focuses on all the water submerging him.

As the monster slows its movements and focuses on the environment, it suddenly finds its right legs are hard to move.

"GRRR!" it grumbles while pulling its leg free, an easy feat for such a massive and powerful creature, but the moment it took is all Yang needed.

As both, it's heads lower to find whatever is attacking it. A pillar of water suddenly shoots upward, trapping the anti-magic spewing head in a column of water.

'FREEZE' Yang commands as the pillar flash freezes along with the surface of the water.

"Gotcha," he rejoices while flying between both the heads, taking advantage of the confusion and grabbing the attention of the flame-spewing head.

"C'MON FOCUS ON ME!" he taunts the boss while staying in front of it.

"AAARGH!" The head roars before belching out a torrent of blue flames at the young adventurer.

'This might hurt,' Yang thinks before focusing more of his magic into his mage armor, causing new, blue flames, to compress down as he flies forward toward his target.

"That's, not what I expected, diving into the flames?" Thalie questions as she watches from the cliff above.

As the boss feels more confident in the death of the adventurer, to its surprise, an immense pain shoots through its head.

"RAAAAARRRHH!" it cries out.

As the flame breath rages further and its panicked head flails left and right, some of the flames lick at the pillar of ice, allowing the anti-magic head to break free.

As the monster is breaking free, its vision is blocked, consumed by flames it doesn't know what is happening to the other head, but it feels its pain. The immense mind-shattering pain wrecks it as it spews out a cloud of anti-magic mist to stop the flames.

'C'mon C'mon just a little more, focus," Yang thinks as he focuses more and more lightning into his hands.

With a large thud, the sound of water splashing and stone cracking echoes through the small pool. An ominous silence permeates the battlefield as both the mist-spitting head and Thalie look on, waiting for the flames, mist, and steam to clear. All unsure of what the hell just happened in the massive smokescreen.

As the dragon's head decides to leave the smokescreen, it cranes its neck away and begins to move, only to find its body sluggish, unusually heavy as the sound of water constantly sloshes with every move it makes.

"Gust" Yang commands, allowing a blast of wind to clear the battlefield.

"... Shit," was all Thalie could say.

"AARRGH!" The monster angrily roars, its hate echoing through the floor as it looms over the source of its pain.

The young adventurer, standing with lightning arcing off his body, his feet almost knee-deep in the flame-spitting head's cornea, burn marks from lightning scorching the entire eyeball and causing the skull to split nearby.

Using the skull as a handhold, he pulls himself out of the monster's eye socket, his boots uncomfortable and filled with the blood of fluids of the now-dead dragon head.

"Now for the hard part," he says while his blue flames roar to life on his body, quickly covering the burns on his face.

*BOOM*

A wave of flames erupts from his feet in every direction as he rockets high out of reach of the final head.

As the dragon tries to move, the dead head proves too much of a problem for the beast. It chooses to spew out a massive amount of mist above itself, protecting itself from any range attacks the adventurer may employ.

Hovering above the flames, Yang is thankful for the reprieve from the battle, allowing him to gather his thoughts.

'I can't fly through the mist to close the gap with this one like before, no fire means it can't quickly break out of the ice if I put my back into it again. If I immobilize fully then I can deal with it after that, but that damn mist...'

As the dragon tries to change its location on the battlefield, clearly on alert of the enemy's range and mobility advantage, it instinctually remains on edge.

*BOOM*

The sound of something breaking the sound barrier above the cloud of mist, the dark cloud blocking the vision of whatever attack was launched.

*CRACK*

Something impacts the back of the boss, its head turns to look at the projectile. A greatsword is embedded almost a foot into its thick scales. Not deep enough to cause any real pain, but a threat.

'Yeah, removing magic is annoying, but doesn't matter if I sent metal from a RAILGUN at you' Yang thinks to himself as he draws a few natural daggers from his inventory.

"Now let's clear the smoke," he says while magnetically hoving the dagger in front of him, holding one hand to his left and another to his right, he begins to arc lightning between his hands constantly bounding from metal to metal, the purple arcs dancing almost in unison as he charges the metal.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

The three daggers destroy the sound barrier as they pierce the cloud of mist. Unlike his wind magic, the wind caused by the backdraft of these weapons, while small, cannot be negated.

As the daggers pierce the veil, a small hole is made, the scene of the dragon, back turned to him as it drags it dead half into deeper waters where it feels safe.

In a moment of immediate action, Yang's mage armor once more erupts to life in more blue flames, purple lightning arcing around his body as he rockets through the hole made in the mist toward his target.

With an ear shattering *BOOM!*, he slams into the hide of the creature, hitting the same spot he first broke with both his feet.

"RARGH!" the monster screams in pain as the scales on its back shatter and crack.

Not wasting a moment Yang immediately slams both his arms into the back of the monster.

*CRACK*

Bones snap as he put all of his strength into the hit.

*CRACK*

His next hit sinks his hands into the back of the monster until he can feel its crystal.

As the immense pain hits the monster, its head has already descended onto the adventurer, barely 10ft away. Its large teeth preparing to sink into Yang as he raises his hands to thrusts both his fists into the back of the creature, directly attacking its crystal.

As mist and drool descend with a legion of teeth.

*CRACK*

The crystal breaks, shoving his hands, past his elbows into the monster, he shatters the crystal while it's inside the monster. With teeth sinking into his left shoulder and right leg, the dragon freezes.

Whatever magic keeping it alive suddenly stops.

"Fuck, too close.... ARGH!" Yang yells in pain, ignoring his aching body and new wounds as his right-hand clings to his left chest area.

A searing, burning feeling takes over his body, he feels power flowing through him, a flow of exelia entering his body, and he feels more, more exelia than he takes in is added to his body, as if amplified by something within himself.

In response to the pain, his mage armor flares up more than ever, ascending to a white-hot flame, flickering between the elements as he wails inside of the dead monster's.

From above, Thalie sees the corpse of the monster as the mist clears, with one head dragged behind, eye socket completely blown out and its skull charred, the other arching around like a curled scorpions tail, jaws frozen in a last attempt to bit onto what now appears to be a burst of multiple elements.

Immediately rising to her feet, she begins to sprint down to the battlefield, the monster clearly dead, she intends to figure out what the hell she couldn't see from her vantage point.

END CHAPTER---

HE FINALLY GOT RAILGUN, he needed modern knowledge of science and magnetism to have it, trust me I wanted him to be using this from the first dungeon crawl with his magic too :/
