Girish felt his heart stuck in his throat, just as he heard the name. Everything seemed stopped before his eyes, his surroundings blurred while the man before him turned much more clearer.
He looked at him with his eyes widened like saucer, his breath hitched. The disbelief in his eyes started to turn in belief slowly, but then suddenly something clicked in his mind which resulted him to stumble.
"Y–you are....!! You're Kri... Krishna!! You're al... alive?!" The words fell from his mouth painstakingly with disbelief written on all over his face.
A devilish grin broke onto his lips as the young man heard his own name finally, "The eldest son of Kedaar Bharadwaj, the one & only Krishna Bharadwaj. Long time no see, mama shri!"
Girish lost his balance and fell down on the sand like a lifeless body.
"How.... how is it possible? How are you still alive?" The questions slipped out of his mouth in a tone of bewilderment & disbelief.
Krishna just mused, "How I'd waited for all these years to see this expression on your face! Finally my wish fulfilled. Now, coming to the point, fortunately but unfortunately I didn't died that night!"
Girish sat on the sand with a crest fallen look, he felt like a sandstorm just passed over his body, he was certainly unable to react, he opened his mouth, but found no words. He tried to talk, but failed to utter even a single word, he just lost his voice.
The sin which he had committed eighteen years ago, today returned back to him just like a boomerang. How? How's it possible?
Krishna bent down on his knees to Girish' level while looking into his eyes with predatory gaze, resulting him to shrank back. He felt himself like a defenseless little rabbit in front of a giant lion.
After looking at each other for a while Girish calmed himself down a little, and swallowed his saliva and licked his lips with his tongue to wet his throat and lips which were too dry.
Then finally opened his mouth, "H.. how are you, my child? Where have you been f.. for all the... ese years?"
No responses received from the young man, he just stared at him plainly without any words, it was as if he didn't even heard the questions. Girish felt a little relieved in his heart and decided to play coy.
"Krish, I.. I'm very ha... happy to see you alive... you know. I've s.. so much to tell you about th... that night...." Girish deliberately returned to the topic to see his reaction, but still nothing happened.
Krishna still didn't uttered even a single word, at this moment Girish felt very much frustrated. He wanted to know, what exactly he was thinking, but the guy even refused to react, he decided to take a last chance. "You know, that night I... I didn't wanted to sa... save you or Jijaji(brother-in-law). But.... but th... that man—"
"Why did you killed my mother?" Krishna uttered the first sentence, which was a question that resulted Girish to stop abruptly.
His face turned as white as a sheet, and he trembled. This was the question which he never in his wildest dreams expected, an image of a certain someone flashed before his eyes for a split moment for him to clench his fist.
"Wh.. what are you bluffing? Why w.. would I kill your mo.. mother? Don't for... get that s.. she was my eldest sister!" Girish denied firmly while wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Krishna just cocked his head a little, "So, you're saying that, you didn't lit the house into that deadly fire that night. Is it so?" Girish felt chills ran down his spine, his breathing laboured, he knows everything!
But then his gaze hardened again, "What fire?! I... I don't know any... anything about it, I was..... o.. out of country.. How could you.. accuse me of something li.. like this?" He again refused to accept anything, and acted innocent.
A smirk played on his lips as Krishna noticed the pale white face of the man but the determination in his eyes.
He turned towards Sheetal, the girl was standing behind him quietly. She nod her head quickly understanding the silent command of her boss and pulled out a small box from her hand bag before walking towards Krishna.
"Here it is, boss." She held out a small box which her boss accept from her before she returned to her previous spot.
Girish was watching the box with curiosity, but as his eyes fell on the thing inside it his eyes turned widen, while his body turned stiff. This!! How did he found it?!
Krishna opened the box and took out a old but gold bracelet which has a special carving over it. He could see the recognition in his uncle's eyes with just one glance, "I can see that you still remember it!"
A small statement and Girish felt his throat run dry, how could he forget it. It was his twentieth birthday gift which he had received from his only elder sister.
After that night he was unable to find it anywhere, he tried to search for it everywhere, but it was just vanished. "It's with youuu...!!" The words fell out of his mouth breathily.
Everything was finally revealed, now there's no way, nor place, nor reason to hide. And he himself was also frustrated with all the guilt for all these years. It's time to accept it now.
A vengeful look flashed in his eyes and in a moment all his fear turned into rage, which he was suppressing for so many years. The guilt that was eating him slowly and making it suffocating for him to even breathe for all these years, suddenly turned into immense hatred and anger and burst out.
"So, you learnt everything! Then, there's nothing to hide anymore. Yess, I killed her, I killed your mother. I never wanted to do it, but what would I have done other than that at the moment?
She coincidentally discovered everything about my hidden businesses, and threatened me to spill everything before Jijaji & Dad. She even collected evidences against me and also decided to disown me from my own property.
What you think, what I should've done that time, sat back and watched my own demise? My own sister turned against me, and that's also for her husband. And you're right, I also killed your father!
Huuh, that man was the person for whom my sister stood against me. He was the person who snatched my sister, my father, my business, and every single thing which I used to hold dear. He sat on the chair which was mine, and turned me into a laughing stock.
If your father really had loved me and trusted me from his heart, then why did he refused to give me the formula of his invention? What I did was to avenge myself, I also snatched everything dear from him, just like he did.
I wanted to kill you for such a long time, but was failing. If I knew that you're still alive, then would've finished you long ago. But don't worry, let me finish you today!"
He spat out his years old frustration before pulling out his revolver from behind and pointing it onto Krishna's forehead.
All his people who were standing quietly till now immediately became alert and aimed all their guns onto Girish.
But Krishna stayed as calm as ever, he didn't showed any kind of fear, hesitancy, aggression or panic. "Aren't you feeling scared? Death is knocking on your door!"
Girish mocked him out of frustration, he thought the guy will be scared, but he even failed to get even a single reaction from him.
Just let me leave this place once, and you'll be finished, finished. He sneered in his heart believing that he can left this place, but his happiness was short lived.
A low but bone chilling dark chuckle left from his throat before he laughed loudly, "Today I understood why my grandfather didn't let you sit on his chair after him!"
