Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

"No matter who you are or where you are, instinct tells you to go home."

Selene's POV

I can't believe I actually found her. This is amazing, now I just have to get her to come home. "Where is my daughter going?" I ask the man showing me around my daughters pack land. "To see our doctor, ma'am." He responds monotonically. "You don't like me do you?" I ask him out of curiosity. "Ma'am with all due respect, no I do not. Zaraphine is our family. She is my family. She gave us all a home, she gave us a true meaning, she gave us something that we never thought we would ever receive again, she gave us acceptance. She never questioned our mistakes. She never asked us why we became rogues. The only thing she wanted to know was what we wanted to do with our lives outside of being rogues. I understand that she has a mate that wants her now but he didn't want her when she was there. Of course everyone realizes what they are missing when its gone but we didn't know we were missing anything until she found us. We save people. She saves people. She has saved all of us without a single thought of what could happen to her in the process and you show up and try to take her. So no I do not like you at all." He explains with complete honesty. "I am sorry for showing up the way I did and trying to get her to come back with me, Marcus but she has a home. Just as she has made for all of you she has a place she belongs. I'm sure her mate would let you all into his pack. You kept Zaraphine safe. You all kept my daughter safe. I could never repay you for that." I told him without thought. "Ma'am this Alpha may let some of us in his pack but not all of us. We have all heard of Atticus and his aggression. With the family we have I can guarantee that if he doesn't allow one of us to come none of us will and that includes Zaraphine." He tells me.

"Would you mind explaining to me why Zaraphine needed to go to the doctor after speaking with me?" I couldn't help but pry. "She is sick. She has been since I met her. I was one of the first rogues she took in and its not always a pretty sight. When she loses control she kills anything that's in her sight. She doesn't mean to but the only thing that has been able to keep her at bay is some herbs that Jaime mixes together. It keeps her wolf at ease." He explains with a sadness in his voice. "Has she hurt any of you?" I question him. "Yes she has. Thats why we all keep a close eye on her. We all help out with getting Jaime the herbs she needs that way we never have to go through it again. We love Zaraphine even with her flaws." He told me. "Lets go. She's okay now." He spoke up after a few minutes of silence.

Zaraphine's POV

"Jaime I understand you are concerned but trust me. I'm okay now. It only wore off so quickly because of the recent events. It's not everyday that the Moon Goddess makes her appearance and request that you go back to your mate." I brush off her concern. 'Marcus you can bring her back now. Dinner is almost done. We will sit down and eat then discuss what is going to happen.' I mind link him. "Come on, they're on their way back. Let's all sit down and eat." I call to them as I make my way out go her hut and towards the dining hall.

"Selene, please sit. Let us all eat and we will discuss what our plans are after." I told her politely, gesturing to the chair to the right of mine. "You don't have to call me Selene, my child." She says as she takes a seat. "That is all you are to me. Why would I call you anything else?" I question her rather harshly. "Zara calm down.. We don't need you losing control." Lane called from my left. I look around the table to see the fearful look on my members faces. Looking away in shame I take my seat. "I do apologize. I will try to be better." I told my people sincerely. They all bowed their heads and began filling their plates.

"Luna." Marcus calls. "Yes Marcus?" I respond raising my gaze to meet his. "I know that you wish to wait to discuss this but we are all worried. If you wish to go back where does that leave us? Your mate will not allow all of us into his pack. I'm sorry to do this now of all places but your relations with Lane will stop all of us from being able to move on from you if you plan to go with her. We will not follow without everyone and he will not allow Lane to join." He sated matter of factly. Lane shifts uncomfortably beside Selene as my gaze drifts to him. "Relations? Are you seeing this rogue Zaraphine!" Selene gasped, standing abruptly from the table. "He is not just a rogue Selene! He is my family! All of these people are my family and you will not disrespect them!" I growled through clenched teeth. "We will discuss this in private Zaraphine!" She snapped back causing my wolf to come forward, not liking the disrespect, "Hold you tongue mother! You came to my land asking things of me not the other way around. I did not have to allow you to stay! We can discuss this now if that is what my people want." My wolf hissed.

"Zara calm down. You can't let it control you." I hear Jaime whisper beside me. "Zaraphine what is wrong with you? Why do you need herbs? Why do your people as you claim them to be look terrified of you right now? What have you done Zaraphine? Tell me! Did leaving your rightful spot as the next Moon Goddess change you? Did leaving your mate change you Zaraphine? Show me, show me what happens when you lose control!" Selene egged on. "What are you doing? Stop! She can't control it! You're going to get us all killed!" I hear Jaime shout but it's too late. I can feel it. I begin to shift causing my wolf to whimper in pain. Within just a few moments I stand on all fours with midnight black fur and blood red eyes. I raise my head to the sky and let out a deep howl before my gaze shifts to my source of anger. Selene. "Ohh goddess. What have you done Zaraphine? You need to come with me. Please. I can help you. No wolf should ever have to go through what you are. Please, with this other wolf being inside of you it could destroy you." She pleaded but I refused to listen, instead I took off in a full sprint after her. "ZARAPHINE!"
