Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

Atticus' POV

She comes with baggage now. Can I accept that as her mate? 'At least she doesn't come with a boyfriend.' My wolf smirked. 'Shut up!' I scolded him. "Um, hey Marcus?" I called as he was turning to walk away. "No. I don't think she will mind. Be on your best behavior and Black might not try to eat you again. Let's go. Oh, and grab some wood. We're having a fire to end the night." He calls out continuing his path towards his group of people.

I bend down picking up branches as I slowly follow him. 'Maybe this isn't a good idea,' My wolf speaks up nervously. 'Why? What's wrong?' I question immediately at his words. "He can smell my anger mate. Thats why it isn't a good idea." That angelic voice spoke lowly next to my ear. A shudder passed through me before I spun around, coming face to face with Zaraphine. "Umm. I brought firewood." I give a small smile. Raising a brow, she walks past me and points in the direction of the deep hole in the ground.

"Well, that was better man." Marcus laughed as he came up beside me and patted my shoulder. "How do you figure Marcus?" I ask. "She didn't try to eat you, it's a good sign now let's go. You might even get to see what your mate can actually do." He says. I can hear the smile in his voice that has me raising my own brow in question. I wonder what she can do.

"Everyone listen up!!" Jaime yelled above the chatter causing silence throughout the crowd. "Our Luna would like to say a few words." She finished as she sat down next to a smiling Zaraphine. "My family, my friends, my pack, tonight we have some unexpected guests with us. I understand all of your worry. I feel it deep within me. I wanted to clear things up with all of you and our guests tonight. You are all my pack and will forever be my pack. I have not yet decided where we all will go from here but know that whatever I choose, I will not do so without discussing it with all of you. If that means me walking away from my birth right and mate than I will. Whatever the decision is that we all come to, know that I will stand by your side no matter the costs, you are my family and nobody in this world or the next will take me away from you. Where one goes, we all go. So, with this in the air tonight i ask you all to please step back and let us relax for the evening. Tomorrow we will further discuss our plans as a family." She spoke to the crowd while raising her arms above her head.

As she brought her hands down slowly a light blue glow began to form its way around her. The fire in front of us lit ablaze once her hands touched her thighs. the crowd erupted in cheers while i am left awestruck. 'How did she do that? What did she even do?' My wolf questions with the same curiosity. "Mate. Close your mouth, you'll catch bugs if you don't." She smirked as she walked past me nodding her head forward, telling me to follow. Turning on my heal I followed after her in a light jog before coming up beside her. "Why are you here Atticus? I want the truth. I can tell when you're lying." She spoke softly. "I came for you. I came to bring you home. I want to make things right with you. I have to. When you left it felt like my heart was ripped in two. I came after you, Cain and I did. After you ran, I went looking for you and I haven't stopped until now." I tell her truthfully.

Her shoulders slumped ever so slightly as if hearing my words caused her pain. 'Shit. Good going asshole. You can never shut up, can you?' My wolf growls at me. I drop my head shamefully before speaking up. "I'm sorry Zara. I'll go." I turn around and head back to the watering hole. I glance up from my feet and she's standing right in front of me. "How'd you do that?" I whisper at her. "Why do you think you never found me?" She averted my question. "I was looking in the wrong places..." I tell her. "No... you weren't. You would have found me many times Atticus. I didn't want to be found." I look up hopefully into beautiful bright blue eyes. Taking a step back I gasp. "Who are you?" I question. "I'm White. Weve met before. as you told Lane I bit you." She says with a smirk.

"You're her other wolf? The one she was born with?" I question slowly. "Yes, she was born with me. I am her true wolf." She responds before her glow disappears and her eyes go dark blue, almost black. "True wolf my ass! I am hers just as much as you are white. Watch it!" She growls. "You're Black?" I state, rather than question. "Yes, and I do not wish to speak with you like the other one. I do not have any nice words for you." She growls again except this time its towards me before her eyes flash back to the shining blue. "Sorry, she's touchy when it comes to Zaraphine." She smiles sadly. "No, it's okay. I don't expect an apology. I should be the one apologizing to you. To all three of you I guess."

"Is what you told Jaime the truth? About the wolf in your pack?" She questions in a whisper. My eyes go wide with astonishment. "You heard us? How?" I ask her. "We are a lot more than what we seem dear mate. If Zara is sleeping one of us is awake. It just so happens that after Black was put to rest, I came forward to do the protecting. So, I heard you. So, I will ask again did you speak the truth?" She explains. "Yes, I speak the truth. Does Zaraphine know that we are talking?" I question. "Yes, she is listening along with Black. They just wish to keep quiet for now." She tells me. "Did she want this conversation or did you?" "We all did, and we got the answers we needed so i will answer yours. We are fast mate. A lot faster than a normal wolf. Black and I can speak to your wolf. We can speak to all wolves if we wish to. We are able to manipulate fire and water if we want to. We haven't tried the other elements. Zaraphine doesn't like to, but we abide by her wishes most of the time. Oh, and I'm sorry I bit you, but Black is not." She explains with a small glint in her eye that i am assuming is black peeking through. I let out a small chuckle before nodding.

"Thank you. I appreciate this more than you know." I whisper. She nods to me before turning away and walking towards her makeshift home. "Let's go. We are not done discussing this. We still have to come to a decision about where we go now that I let you find us." She calls over her shoulder.
