"Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life."
Zaraphine's POV
Out of the 27 wolves that were following Harry, we only brought 15 back with us. I wished more would've been willing to change the way they view the packs but even I understand. Depending on what a pack has done its not easy to forgive. 5 of the wolves have been placed in the cells while the other 10 have been given jobs based on what they are strongest at. We managed to gain 2 warriors, 1 doctor, and 3 Herbologists. The other 4 will stay with the women and children and just help around the pack as much as they can. We have all learned the hard way, we are stronger in numbers even if those numbers can't do a whole lot. 'Alpha, one of the wolves in the cells are requesting your presence. He says it's important.' Marcus calls through the link. Giving out a huff I start my way towards the cells. 'Let him know I am on my way but it had better be good. I am tired and do not have time for games.' I tell him.
Passing by a few of my members they all bow their heads as a sign of respect receiving a small smile in return. "Alpha! Where are you going? A few of the new wolves would like to speak with you." Jaime yells as she runs up to my side. "Jaime, there is no need to yell. What do you mean they would like to speak with me? About what? Why are all of these wolves demanding my presence now that we have made it back home. Jaime inform the guards to stay on alert. I have a bad feeling about this." I tell her. "Yes Alpha. Ohh and Zara, please be careful. I agree with you. Something doesn't feel right but we don't know what it could be. They could be after you." She says as she turns away and walks off leaving me alone.
Maybe she's right. They could be after me. The warrior from Night Moon had said too much. Even if he didn't know who I was, these rogues could've picked up on my hesitance when he mentioned the missing Luna. If they know my pack could be in trouble and I will kill all of them before I let harm come even close to my family. "Zaraphine, calm down. I could smell you 20 yards away. You reek of anger and I guarantee you it is not a pleasant scent." Lane says with a smirk as I make my way towards him. "Now is that any way to address a lady, Lane?" I question with a smirk of my own. "You a lady? Please. You are more than a lady Zaraphine. You are my queen. I would never shame you for your stench." He says with a smile as big as the Cheshire Cat. I put my hand to my heart as if I've been wounded. "My stench? Have you smelled yourself? My dearest Lane you smell worse than the rotting pigs. You had better shower before dinner or I will have to pretend I don't know who you are." I say with a huge grin as I walk passed him into the underground prisons.
"Brian, I heard that you wish to speak to me. What is it that you want?" I ask him as soon as I am in front of the door. "My my if it isn't the lost Luna. I knew you looked familiar, if you're lucky the others haven't noticed yet. I'm not sure that the warriors haven't figured it out yet but if they have you know who will be coming for you right? He won't stop until he gets you back. He will destroy everything you have made for yourself. He's truly gone mad. But maybe that is what you wanted, it's a good plan I must admit." He says looking me dead in the eye. "Stop!! He will not come here! Stay out of my head! He's not coming! He won't come! He never comes!" I mumble as I feel my wolf begin to surface. My nails turn to claws and I see the hair on my arm growing into fur. "NO!! I don't want this! Go away! I won't go back! I don't want to! Get out of my head! LANE!! I need help!" I yell as I feel her start to take complete control. 'Mate! I want my mate! I'm going to my mate!' She starts screaming in my head.
Lane's POV
"What did you do?" I snarl at the man inside the cell. He lets out a laugh before he looks up at me with a smirk, "I told her the truth. She can't hide forever. If you know what's best for you, run. Atticus won't spare you when he smells you on her. Hell I want to kill you myself just so he doesn't kill me for knowing about it." Ignoring him I link Jaime, "Bring the syringe and hurry! She's almost gone!' Before she can reply I pick up Zaraphine and run out the cells. As soon as I step through the door leading to the fields I see Jaime and run towards her. "Hurry she doesn't have much time left." I exclaim. She stabs the medicine into her chest and within a few seconds Zaraphine is passed out in my arms. "Lane, why didn't you go in with her? You could have stopped this! The minute she started losing control you should have dragged her out of there until she calmed down. Your feelings towards her can not cloud your judgment Lane. What if she would have completely lost it or I didn't make it in time? She would have killed everyone here Lane! You have to be careful especially with her emotions! You know she can't control them as much as she should. If this happens again I will appoint someone else has her guard." She scolds as if I'm child. "I know Jaime. I thought she could handle it and I'm sorry. I guess I had more hope then I should have that he doesn't still get to her." I say dropping my head. "Lane we all know that what her wolf feels and what she feels are two different things but no matter what until she can control her emotions her wolf will always over power her." She says as she grabs my chin making me look at her. "Go take her to bed and don't leave her side. Make sure when she wakes up it is actually her. We don't want a repeat of last time, okay." I give her a nod before heading towards our pack house and taking Zaraphine to our temporary bedroom.
