Chapter 10 - Chapter 4.5 : Death

The moment he stepped foot inside the hospital, Wilford was greeted by a gust of cool air and the smell of antiseptic. He turned around and saw a few people seated by the seats located at the side, waiting for their numbers to be called. Some were scrolling through the phone while others were sleeping.

He then noticed a reception at the front. He dashed towards it and told the receptionist working there.

"I am from the silver family. Someone called to inform me that there's a patient here."

The lady looked up from the computer to him, she seemed a little too young to work in the hospital.

However, to Wilford's surprise, she spoke really professionally. "I was told from my supervisor that you have to go to the third floor of building C." She calmly explained. She then looked at Wilford arms, which were holding his siblings. "You can leave the children here, Sir."

Wilma and Willard's eyes instantly widened when they heard that. They swiftly responded, "Big bro! Don't leave us! We want to go with you!"

Surprised could be seen on the woman's face, but she also felt a tad bit embarrassed for thinking that they were Wilford's children.

Without thinking much of it, he quickly found a map of the hospital and memorise the route on it.

He then started dashing to building C. He started feeling out of breath after a few minutes, but he continued using all his strength to move his legs.

He soon spotted a white building which has the number 3 engraved nicely onto it.

As he felt his strength reaching the limit, he suddenly felt another boost of energy in him.

*ding*

He didn't bother to see the notification but kept running faster.

A person in charge of the building suggested to him. "I advise you to leave your siblings outside sir." She said, as he slowly put them down to avoid hurting them.

Although they were still confused about the whole situation, they understood that they cannot enter. So they silently went to the side where there was a play area catered for small children like them.

Seeing them occupied, Wilford quickly rushed to the floor his uncle was at. He waited for the lift impatiently. When the lift reached where he was, he quickly dashed in and punched the button opto get him to level 3. He then dashed out of the lift when it opened to the level he intended to go.

Looking for the room number along the many rooms in the hallway, he finally found it and stopped at the one his uncle was in.

He glanced at the remaining time left, 33 minutes more.

Wilford's heart felt a sense of relief, knowing he still had time before time ran out. As he entered the room. His feeling of hopefulness dropped again.

His uncle's head, chest and left arm were all covered in thick bandages.

He slowly and cautiously walked towards him.

"Uncle?" He slowly said, as his uncle weakly opened his eyes, struggling to keep it open.

He smiled at the boy in front of him. "Wilford."

"Where's auntie?" He asked, full of concern and worry in his voice. He pulled out a chair from under the bed and sat on it, wanting to listen to what his uncle had to say.

His uncle's eyes became wet, "I wish, I was stronger." Was all he said, as silence filled the space between the 4 white walls again.

Wilford looked at his uncle, using his observation to study him.

"Wilford, I would like to tell you something." Ayub suddenly said seriously, despite himself getting weaker by the minute. Wilford looked at him with watery eyes. Ayub let out a heavy sigh. "Yesterday there was an earthquake in the area they were at." He paused, looking at Wilford for any reaction. When receiving none, he continued, "They didn't survive. Looks like I won't too."

Wilford's eyes widened instantly in shock, feeling his soul leave his body.

"Wilford, take care of Wilma and Willard. I have a friend that I trust with my life. Tell him that I sent you to him. He's the principal of a school. Or academy if that's what he wants called it." He smiled weakly and lifted his right arm to touch Wilford's face. "Wilford, I want you to live well. Don't take the wrong path in life."

'How is his life decreasing so fast?!' Wilford yelled in his mind.

[Target has said his final wish. System is now taking away remaining life force]

'What the hell?!' He yelled in his mind, tears overflowed his eyes and streamed down his face.

Wilford struggled to speak. "I...will…" He breathed out, as his uncle's eyes slowly turned lifeless and the arm that was on his face fell.

"Haha, I know." Ayub said. "Don't die again Wilford." He muttered softly, but Wilford didn't hear him.

He closed his eyes, smiling as Wilford just tightly clutched his uncle's hand which held his face.

*Beep…*

He then felt it became heavy. The heart rate monitor turned into a flat line.

He placed his head against his uncle's hand, and kept sobbing quietly.

[User first mission: Ayub's last wish]

He didn't bother seeing the reward, he just silently stared at the mission. He felt his heart ache more than before. He just sat on the chair without moving a muscle.

[User's past life ally has less than one minute remaining.]

He stared at the screen, eyes widened and looked around to see what the system was referring to.

However, he spotted someone standing on the roof of the opposite building.

In fact, two figures were there. One of the figures suddenly stood up and threw the other down. A red liquid falling with it.

His eyes widened in shock as he saw who was thrown down. Before he could do anything, the figure just turned around and left.
