Chapter 4 - His King's Right Hand

"Why are ya so late?" Professor Parrot squawked at the duo who just arrived in the house.

"Sorry professor sir, we had to deal with two sages that conjured up a hurricane inland. The sages today are seriously a bunch of degenerates, not caring at all about the other lifeforms in their vicinity whenever they start battles," Crandall explained.

"It's not just them, all the younglings these days are degenerates! Meteor Shower conned me out of my hard bought exotic fruits!" Professor Parrot complained.

"Excuse you professor, you conned me out of my housing deposit!" Meteor Shower corrected as he walked out of the kitchen with a pink guava in his hand.

"Hi Sylv I haven't seen you in forever!" Meteor Shower shouted in glee as he saw the silver haired figure. Back in Parrotise Sylv was his only humanoid friend. This was mainly because all the old fellows were much too mature for Meteor Shower to have fun with. They often ended up just giving him long lectures on what he should do rather than playing games, so most of Meteor Shower's friends were parrots. Of course, Sylv was older than many of the oldies in Parrotise but because Sylv was quite immature most of the time Meteor Shower found him fun to be around.

"Meteo-boi! It's been so long I missa-ded-ed you!" Sylv ran over to hug the preteen in tears. Meteor Shower was also one of Sylv's best friends since all of his friends were mature to the point they annoyed him. Take Crandall for example, always lecturing him not to bedazzle people. Smh!

Smash!

Meteor Shower pulled a wine bottle from who knows where and smashed it into Sylv's face to prevent the hug.

"I told you not to hug me while naked!"

"What wine is this, it doesn't taste too bad," Sylv asked, completely unbothered by Meteor Shower's act of wine bottle smashing and also oblivious to the comment about hugs from him.

"Idk, I'm not old enough to drink," Meteor Shower shrugged.

Watching their dysfunctional relationship Crandall sighed while relaxing his muscles. Of course, this meant less vasoconstriction so his bleeding increased.

"Crandall!" Professor Parrot screeched.

"Oops, sorry!" Crandall clenched up again.

It was at this time that Meteor Shower finally noticed the golden turkey leg bleeding out on the floor. And also that it could talk.

*_*

"Hello there lad! I'm Crandall, my king's right hand and I wish upon you to become a man!"

Later in the evening around the dinner table Crandall began to explain where he had been for the last 50 years. This was also the reason why Meteor Shower had never met the strange talking hand before, however the two got along surprisingly well.

Apparently, Crandall used to be the left hand man of the Golden Dragon King. However he always wanted to be his king's right hand so he went out of his way to go watch a meteor shower a few thousand miles from his home just to make a wish that he could become his king's right hand. He had heard that sometimes wishes made upon shooting stars could become true.

After camping out there for 50 days he witnessed a meteor shower and made his wish.

It came true!

And he was literally turned into his king's right hand!

Thus, Crandall, the right hand of the golden dragon king was born. Literally just the right hand. The golden dragon king, after hearing about this, did some DNA and dragon scale print matching only to find that Crandall really was her right hand. She found it so hilarious that she laughed for a year, got severe cramps and almost died of starvation. Since then, to make sure that she could continue to do her duties, Crandall left her side while remaining her right hand, forever.

Hence, when Crandall met Meteor Shower, he tried to wish on him. Unfortunately, this time his wish did not come true.

The closest he had ever been to returning to his old form was 50 years ago, when he found a mystical herb. Unfortunately, someone snatched the herb from him, wounding him in the process and resulting in Crandall falling into slumber. Then, when a bunch of sentient turkeys found him, they thought he was the fallen leg of some ancient turkey god. In a bid to emulate the parrot settlement of Parrotise, they erected Crandall up in the middle of a clearing in the forest and started Turkeyville, with him as the legendary turkey totem. Sylv noticed him while flying by and so decided to bring him along, saving him from his embarrassing situation and waking him up in the process.

Meteor Shower was completely enthralled by Crandall's adventures and so when professor declared that it was his bed time Crandall went up to tell him more of his stories.

"Professor, can I ask you a question?" Sylv asked.

"That is a question!" Professor Parrot squawked.

"Ok, then another one."

"Go ahead."

"Why were you in my house?"

This question was followed by a short moment of silence as Sylv turn to look directly at professor. Surprisingly, professor's green feathers on his head were turning red and steam was coming out of his ears.
